Angel Food Ministries are country wide (USA), I believe. I was familiar with churches in Ohio and now in Illinois that offer Angel Food. There is one church in my little town involved.

It is not really a "helping hand" per se as far as "free" food. It is an organization that does offer bulk food for a price once a month. It used to be $25, and now has gone to $30 a month. You order it each month from the church involved, and pick up yourself at the church.

Each month some of the offers change, a majority meat products (most frozen food).

It is great for families, and I know several people involved. It is purchasing basically at a discount. I checked into it a couple times, and figured out the prices, was over half at that time from the original prices, depending on the food. It does change each month.

Again, this is not free, but food you purchase at a discount.

it just so happens that my family helps run a program here out of our community center hunter

ive found that it is geared for a family of 4

its not junk food

you kinda know what your getting but its whats avalable

you know like chicken ,,,or pork chops,,, hambergers

fresh veggys like potatoes beans

canned goods ect.ect.

i feel its a good deal but the portions are a bit small

we dont use it but have tried it (we have 4 kids lol) and its reasonable if you lived in the city and had little access to farm prices it would be good but we grow most of our meat and ppl here share fresh veggys durring the growing season

all around i think its a good thing ,,, it is cheaper (a little ) and comes in in good order

i have no complaints about it and there are some around here that use it all the time

Hunter,

I used it the sum total of one month. No doubt you'll get alot of different feedbacks on this, but my personal experience was this . . . . the food looked tired. Kind of like when you go into a used clothing store and everything looks . . . well, tired. Blessings.

it can be a bit inconvenient, yet it can be cost saving.......that is if you use the items that are in the package, if you do not use the majority of the items then it may not be for you.....

the extra packs are good deals also, that is, if you would normally use them....

if a person does not use dried potatos or beets or tuna, then the package having those items would not be a good deal for them....

just like coupon shopping, we clipped coupons for a long while, and when we checked out the items, we found we would buy an off brand and actually save more then by using a coupon, even doubled....

if a person goes to a SAMs store, and buys their food there, they may get a wonderful deal on certain things, but if they are not careful, they will end up paying more over all then if they split their shopping up a bit.....

the quality of the food is good, not the top notch quality, but it is (as was said before) not junk.....

we do not buy it cause we have to go out of town to buy it and then we have to go out of town to get it...... a person with a freezer can really do good, when a package deal comes up that they really do use, they can buy several of that package and then freeze it ( or for dry goods, store on shelves)...

My experience with it was not real positive. It is less expensive, but I was disappointed. Many people in my town use it and are happy with it, but most of it we ended up feeding to our dogs. Don't get me wrong - it was OK, and I think a real benefit to those on a tighter budget than I am. Much of what was offered the month I bought it just wasn't anything I would care to buy - for instance Dunkables. Blueberry waffle wedges to be dunked in syrup. We never did eat this. Like was mentioned before, the food was just "tired". Another thing I didn't like was the fact that you had to order and pay for it ahead of time, then go stand in line with your own containers to carry everything (it happened to be during a heavy rain and everyone was drenched - the food was inside, but the line was outside and long). If I had been unable to pick up the food, say I got sick or something unexpected came up, I would have just lost the money I spent.

All in all, I only did it once and won't do it again.

Yes, in fact our church is involved in the Angel Food Ministries. We have also ordered the food and it is really good. It's just my husband and I so we will order say for example this month, and it will last us until next month. We also help with boxing the food when it arrives at our church. It's a good witnessing tool and also it will help families who are in need. It's good when you have elderly shut-ins to order for them. There have been people order the food for Christmas presents. In fact, they have meals especially made up for Sr. Citizens. It is a good ministry to be involved in. If for some reason you decide you don't want your order the church will give it to a family in need. If you can't be there to pick it up, you can have someone pick it up for you.

There is the regular box, Senior box, and a new allergen-free box, then you have 6 different specials. On the back of our menu's we put our church information, our services and the time they start etc.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
