I was just reading through these boards, and I've only just really noticed that the title of this section is "Faith vs Science". I had seen it before, but it's only occurred to me that the "vs" in that Board Section may not necessarily be necessary. By setting Faith and Science up as adversaries, it appears (at least on the surface) that we are viewing them as mutually exclusive concepts that cannot coexist in the heart of a single believer/non-believer.

As I see it, Science deals with our empirical world - what can be observed, and what can be guessed at by those observations. Issues of Faith, God, miracles, and such, cannot be addressed by science. Their very nature disqualifies them from being dealt with. Faith, on the other hand, deals with the spiritual observations of our world. These are not necessarily things we can see, feel, touch, taste, smell. They are truths that we believe based on our world views and holy texts. For us Christians, we believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God. Science cannot tell us whether it is our not, because science does not ask that question. History cannot tell us whether the Bible is inerrant or not, because historians do not deal with innerrancy either.

For lack of a better breakdown, science deals with the "HOW" of this creation. Faith deals with the "WHO" of creation, and the "WHY". They are not enemies to be set up as a Streetfight ("vs"). They are both vehicles which we can explore our world, both equally important to a full understanding of our existence. They both simply ask different questions and arrive at those different answers through different criteria. Needless to say, I don't see anything that requires Faith to be set up in opposition to Science (or vice versa).

Just a few thoughts. Any feedback or comments from others would be appreciated :emot-hug:

~ Regards, PA

Hi PA...I entirely agree with your premise on the issue of Faith vs Science. :emot-hug:

I had noticed it some time ago...it is a bit like saying History vs Geography, or Latin vs Physics.

It would probably be better to have...Faith vs Unbelief; or Creation Science vs Secular Science.

I think it's pretty much the science folks that have created the opposition.

Well Said ParanoidAndroid. I'm also tired of hearing Faith vs. Science. Especially since the science they are talking about is an unproven theory-evolution.

"O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called." (I Timothy 6:20)

Boltz I really like the creation science vs. secular science, sounds like you may have listen Dr. Kent Hovind.

I think it should be renamed "Creation Versus Evolution" or what Botz said.

Faith vs Unbelief

I dont' think it should be renamed to this, because both sides have faith. And, it requires a lot more faith to belief that evolution occurred the way they said it did.

The LORD Looked

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.

There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.

Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.

Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Psalms 14

Another Take On Science

Science Deals With The Exploration Of Tiny Bits And Pieces Of God's Creation Through Observation, Careful Measurements And Repeatable Tests.

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:"

Romans 1:20

And Because Not All Science Is Science,

"Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen."

Romans 1:25

Faith vs. Science Is A Proper Place For Man's Rebellion To Meet God's Holy Word.

"But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

2 Corinthians 4:4

Another Take On Faith

Whereas Faith Deals With The HOW Of Creation

"Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him."

Colossians 1:15-16

The Why Of Creation

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."

Revelation 4:11

The WHO Of Creation

"And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ."

Ephesians. 3:9

And The Creation Yet To Come

"For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy."

Isaiah 65:17-18

And The Answer To HOW WHO And WHY Is JESUS!

Some Folk Still Chant "Science" As They Build Fantasy Castles

Thinking To Hid From The Truth

From The Sight Of God

" For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

John 11:25

They're Still Running From He Who Loved

"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Hebrews 12:2

And Still Calls, Come Sinner Come

"I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."

I just joined this forum, and reading about faith vs science is leading me to ponder this question.

In the bible it is written God created the heavens and the earth, it says little on how he created them. Could it be science might be finding the tools that God used in creating heaven and earth? :whistling:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
