Out of my 10% giving of my finances- I give to the Church as well as anyone/thing that I feel led by the Holy Spirit to give.

It could include buying something for someone - shouting them lunch - giving them money, whatever the case maybe. I give according to how I am led by the Holy Spirit - out of the 10%. If I get any extra money on top - I always give. I am not at all surprised that God covers me financially when I am in need.

My opinion, is that tithing is as relevent as do not murder. It's there to help us - churchs need a steady income to be able to pay everyones salries and survive. That being said, I also don't believe it's always cut and dried. I always tithed without even thinking about it because I was brought up that way - but last year I felt God tell me to stop tithing, so I did. I also haven't been attending a church regularly since then. Church. But not a specific church. Just floating at the moment and enjoying it. (And no that's not a sin.) Every time the bag comes round I usually pray and see what God says. Sometimes it's a small amount, sometimes larger, but he usually says something.

I think that 10% is a good base, plus offerings on top of that for different causes or visiting speakers and just being generous anywhere else it comes up. But as long as God has the final say, as you're led by the spirit.

Someone pointed out an interesting thought . . . and I'm not sure what the counter to it would be.

When the Lord commanded the tithe, it was to be 10% of the fruit of your labor, not 10% of your income.

Responses?

probably woul dinclude our income plus a lot of other stuff.

when I was growing up I lived in Wichita (for the most part of it, 1 & 2nd grade, 5th - 12th)

there was a man that went to our church (had gone there before I started going) when he accepted the Lord, he found the part about tithing and he asked what that really meant...

he started giving 10% and keeping 90%....

later, as his income increased, he kept the same amount of money, and added the increase to the tithe.... a few years (not sure the exact number of years) Mr. Storm was giving 90% and keeping 10% and the 10% he was keeping at the time was greater then the 90 % he was keeping when he first started tithing.....

what is it that is said? who are we that we should rob God of what is His? or how about what happened to Ananias and Sephira???? what about giving to God what is Gods and ceaser what is ceasers?

Mom and us never went with out what was needed, there were times us 6 kids did not get what we wanted, but then again, the word NO! meant NO! and it was respected as such..... Mom was not given much for weekly living, she gave as much as she could from the money she got, but she then also gave lots of time. mom gave several hours a week to work in the church, if we tithed our time, we would be giving 2.4 hours a day or 16.8 hours a week..... most people give only an hour for sunday school once a week, and then 1.5 hours once a week for morning service....... some people might give another hour sunday evening, and then even fewer will give an hour mid week..... total that would be 4.5 hours a week........

can you imagine if the church today did as the 1st century church did? EVERYDAY GATHERING AND FELLOWSHIPPING AND WORSHIPPING.... so long that a person would be sitting in the window for air falls asleep while the teaching was on going, and then falls to the ground below, and dies..... wow, what power the spirit has provided, that even during that , a man was raised back from the dead.

 I REALLY like that last sentence, HIS girl! (if that was in the Bible, it would have a 'therefore' in front of it!)

but.... "shouting them lunch"?? does that mean they eat your words instead of their own? :noidea:

LOL - "shouting" someone something in Australia means "paying FOR that person". :21:

(and not expecting to have the "favour" returned - because it's God's money not my own!)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
