Well I saw the commercial for the first time last night and guess what......

I laughed .......it was funny

IMO it is nowhere near as racy as some of the other commercials I've seen lately and have even commented on in another thread.

I think sometimes we get alittle carried away with our indignation.

What's the connection to the food?

Is it aimed at an adult audience or children?

Would it be as funny if it were mens private parts instead of womens body parts?

I don't get the connection. I'm an adult woman with intelligence and I don't see the "intelligence" of the ad and how it would motivate me to buy their food.

The connection is that they are selling Spongebob Squarepants kids meals...i.e. the kids really like Spongebob and parents might go for a 99cent kids meal.

It was aimed at adults...although my kids laughed at it too. It was trying to get adults to come in and buy a regular priced meal deal...and the bonus was you could get your kids a nicely priced Spongebob Squarepants meal too.

I actually think the commercial would have been just as funny if they had men with squarepants as well. Maybe even funnier... However, it is my personal belief that if it were men in the commercial, we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

It has NOTHING to do with being a woman. It has to do with being a parent who can get a sweet deal on a kids value meal. If you are a parent with kids then you might be motivated to save a couple of dollars at BK when you buy a meal deal...especially if you have kids that like Spongebob. Whether the ad was intelligent or not is subjective.

The ad does not entice me to buy it for my kids.

I hate the fact that my kids don't have many intelligent cartoons to choose from - generally the cartoons are plain rubbish - the intelligence factor IS an issue as most things today on TV desensitise people to the fact that one has a functional brain but to go with the "flow" and follow the worlds thinking is standard and good/current thinking ...because of the monopoly that the secularism has on all media, my kids are subjected to "B grade intelligence level" kids viewing - sorry Ax but it is waaay below standard...

I haven't seen the actual ad but I read the article and I am gobsmacked! :D

An ad like that would have NO airtime on Australian TV today but with the way Australia is going, (little America) I am afraid we may one day see this kind of trash as common selling points.

Please..somebody help me. What kind of trash???

It's square butts. Right-angled, sponge-shaped bottoms..phone book implants. If anything this commercial is making a point about how women will modify/alter their bodies after what is popular at the moment. Like spongebob. I'll be the first to admit that there are some racy, over-sexualized commercials out there...we've all seen them. This isn't even close to one of them. It isn't even intended to be sexy...its funny, sarcastic humor.

and in the work place, this would be labeled as sexual harassment, are you going to bend over and look as some womans backside as she is trying to get a file out of a drawer? making a comment about a womans back side again would end up in the eeo office, or hr office or for that matter in court. in the military, a person would be looking at rank reduction and fines.

as far as any of the commercials like that, I am offended, like I said, Dove products have no place in this house, nor in the house of any of my family members for their commercials..... Hardees the same way.... we do not like them, they are offensive and they belittle people.... sexual innuendos have no place in this house.....

we do not have cable, but to watch the weather, we do have rabbit ears... other then that we are on SKY ANGEL.... much better.

you do with your family as you wish....

I don't support old McDonald either. Hmmmmm think I just make my own burgers then it will definately be my way..... :24::24::24:

You can eat where you want...but the commercial isn't directed at kids.

So are we gonna start boycotting every secular business that acts just like we would expect the world to act? I don't think so. I'll take another Angry Whopper please. :whistling:

I saw this ad during prime time programming, and don't think it was directed towards kids either. I found it more stupid than offensive, just as I think all the Burger King ads are stupid. If it was up to me, they would pull the entire ad campaign with that stupid King character, but I don't see this as serious enough of an issue to start a boycott over. I was far more offended by the Tylenol campaign to homosexuals where they showed two guys in bed together with the caption saying, "My backache is keeping me up," and the other guy saying, "My boyfriend's backache is keeping me up." This was being promoted to homosexual audiences, and was in extremely bad taste. I have been avoiding Tylenol products since, and I wrote the company to complain.

When it comes to what is offensive, eveyone looks at things differen't. If you find the Burger King ads that bad, by all means, stand up for what you believe in and boycott them. I find them stupid, and hope you win your fight because I would love to see them pulled, but there are much worse ads on tv, and much worse things to fight over in my opinion than this.

By the way Axxman, I like the Angry Whopper too. I just had a triple Angry Whopper the other day. I got hold of one a couple of weeks ago that was so hot, I had tears running down my face. They had that thing piled with jalapenos. It was delicious. :39:

You are probably right, but this is just an example of how things have gone too far. Nobody should be able to file a sexual harassment grievance because someone looks at them when they bend over. The only reason men do look at women is because God created a natural attraction, and no amount of laws will stop the practice. I agree that men should not use disrespectful comments in the work place, but once again, businesses have gone too far. It has gotten to the place where even well intentioned compliments can be taken wrong. For instance, a woman might have dressed up one day, and someone might comment that she looks nice. In some cases, that might be called harrassment.

If it was up to me, we would go back to a 70s mentality, where women learned to defend themselves without the threat of the law. Jennifer on WKRP in Cincinnatti was always being harrassed by Herb, but she dealt with it. There was no threats of legal action. She just blew him off.

Butero.... a little off topic...

How hot is the Angry Whopper? I love hot food and it looks delicious, but being 7 and a half months pregnant has me a little leery that it might come back to haunt me..... :39::whistling:

desensitized are we? have we grown so numb to things that we do not see junk?

Dove, a dozen women prancing around in their BVD's, what does this have to do with toiletry products? why not just show the face?

Hardees, is another one using a woman acting out with a burger? yuck. moaning and groaning, gross.

these are only a few that have gone south. people have grown so numb that they no longer have any effect on us, we dont even flinch much anymore, even with the cursing we no longer notice it.

Is there anyplace we can even eat anymore? We have you boycotting Burger King, someone else boycotting Arbys and Quiznos (why I don't know) and now you've added Hardees. There are so many offensive ads on tv, far worse than these, I don't see how you can make such a deal over them. Every night I have to put up with one ad after another for Viagra and Levitra, smiling Bob pushing Enzyte, as well as phone date line commercials that are bordering on phone sex lines in appearance. Maybe I have become decensitized to some degree, but I do know you have to pick your fights, and I don't see the Burger King ad as bad enough to start a boycott over. I can see writing the company and asking them to pull the ads. Has anyone tried that? Does Burger King even know there is a boycott taking place? If they don't, your not doing any good anyway.

The one I got the other day wasn't that hot, but it depends on who makes it. It is the jalapeno peppers that give it heat. They gave me one that was loaded down with peppers the other week, and that one was hot.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
