Easter is not Eastre.

Easter, a Christian festival, embodies many pre-Christian traditions. The origin of its name is unknown. Scholars, however, accepting the derivation proposed by the 8th-century English scholar St. Bede, believe it probably comes from Eastre, the Anglo-Saxon name of a Teutonic goddess of spring and fertility, to whom was dedicated a month corresponding to April. Her festival was celebrated on the day of the vernal equinox; traditions associated with the festival survive in the Easter rabbit, a symbol of fertility, and in colored easter eggs, originally painted with bright colors to represent the sunlight of spring, and used in Easter-egg rolling contests or given as gifts.

The Story of Easter:

John 19:17-John 20:31

The King on a Cross

And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, 18 where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center. Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was:

JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Then many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.

Therefore the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate,

You all are precious, and Father God loves you very much.

However, what place does Passover have in our lives? Does it really matter if we're not biological Jews? We've all been passed over when it should have been us who died for our own sins instead of a sinless savior taking our place.

Easter is a holiday which incorporates pagan traditions with a religious observance, but Passover was instituted by Yahweh God, the great I AM. He and He alone was the sole initiator of the feast that revealed the plan for the Messiah's death and His victory over sin.

We need to pray with OPEN minds and hearts as to what holiday or feast WE SHOULD be celebrating this time of year because we ARE NOT OUR OWN. WE'VE BEEN BOUGHT WITH A PRICE BY THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF OUR SAVIOR, YAHUSHUA JESUS.[/bd)

Hugs to you all,

Darlene

:emot-hug: It's kind of hard to celebrate Passover when you don't have people to celebrate it with or who will celebrate it with you.

~~~~~~
But today is the day we celebrate what on the Jewish calendar would be the Feast of Firstfruits.
Date: Nisan 16 or Sivan 6.
Gregorian Calendar: March/April, May/June
Spring or Fall: Spring Feast
Scripture: Leviticus 23:10, Luke 24:7
Significance: Firstfruits speaks of the Lord's triumphant resurrection; death simply could not hold her foe. On the third day, Jesus rose victoriously from the grave.
Paul wrote: "But now is Christ risen from the dead and become the first fruits of them that slept" (I Corinthians 15:20). Paul had in mind the first sheaf (firstfruits) of the barley harvest (Leviticus 23:10). When God accepted the firstfruits, they became the guarantee that the rest of the crop would indeed be harvested, for Jesus (Yeshua) himself is the "first fruits" (I Corinthians 15:23). . . . Jesus was the first to be resurrected from death and the grave, never to die again. He alone is the "Firstfruits."
AS a Blood bought child of the Living God I have freedom in Christ, and no condemnation is allowed to come against me!
He has given us victory, and all that the enemy has stolen He will return unto all of us who walk in victory in Him.
Satan may try to pollute these days that we as christians worship our Risen Lord, but we donot set our mind on the things of this world, but set our faces like flint and keep our eyes on the KIng of Kings
Has anyone ever read about the history of easter? It's quite mind blowing!!
Yes I have reseached it indepth and here is what I found.
According to the Bible the last supper of Christ took place on the day of the feast of the Passover which is the 14th day of the first month Nisan, of the Jewish calendar which is our month of April and it was on this same day that Jesus was betrayed by Judas and crucified on the cross (the Jewish day starts and ends at the setting of the sun and it was after the sunset) This day also represents the day the sacrificial lamb was killed and its blood used to save the Israelite people from the angel of death just before they exited Egypt (Exodus 12:6). Though Easter Sunday lands on different dates, those dates are always after the 14th of Nisan. Even at the time of Polycarp there was a deep division in the church between the Jerusalem Church and the Roman Church as to when the Passover should be commemorated. The tradition of celebrating the Passover (according to Polycarp) was to be done on the 14th of April which was in line with the apostolic teachings of both of the apostles John the Revelator and Paul of Tarshish, and it was three days later on the 17th of April that Christ was raised from the grave just before the sunrise. This would mean that the day the church would celebrate the resurrection of Christ would take place on a different day of the week each year because the day of the Passover feast migrates backwards on our Gregorian calendar for three years and then is propelled forward 29 days because the Jewish year has fewer days in a year then we do. In 1992 for example the 14th of Nisan fell on April 17th, in 1994 the 14th of Nisan fell on March 26th, in the year 2005 the 14th of Nisan fell on April 10th, in the year 2007 it fell on March 20th, and in the year 2009 it fell once again on March 26th.
But the Roman church wanted the celebration to fall on the same day every year and they wanted it to be what they understood to be the first day of the week so they changed the celebration to Sunday the 16 day of April. But the Jerusalem Church continued to calibrate the resurrection of Christ according to the apostolic teachings until sometime in the 4th century. If it was an apostolic teaching then even today we should be celebrating the resurrection of Christ just as the Apostles did, which would be according to the Jewish calendar and indeed the Orthodox Christians still do. When the Roman church instituted the change many of the early Jerusalem church leaders were very upset that the Roman church would disregard the apostolic teachings so easily with little regard for the consequences of an act of what God considers rebellion against that which He has already decreed.
Anatolius of Laodicea in Syria was one of the front line scholars of his day in the field of physical sciences and Aristolelean philosophy. He wrote 10 books on arithmetic and a treatise on the proper time of the Passover or Paschal celebration and wholly disagreed with the date change. It was the Council of Nicaea which was presided over by Emperor/Pope Constantine, which changed the date of the resurrection of Christ from a true date to a false date, which some would say, is a minor problem. But in the eyes of God it is a sin like any other sin because God commemorates dates for his reasons and we have no right to change that which God has designated. God orchestrated the death of his son so that it would fall on the Passover holiday because his son was the sacrificial Lamb and he sure enough didn
I know I am going to catch flack for this but what the hay. This is only a small part of a book I wrote about our Christian holidays and my book has been picked up by Tate Publishing. Praise God it will be in stores in less that a year.
What is the name of the book and when is it scheduled to be published?
    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.
      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.
      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.
      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.
      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”
    • Understanding the Enemy!
      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!
      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.
      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,
      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.
      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!
    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,
      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.
      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."
      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
