I don't know what it is... but some people are just very belligerent about the KJV.

It is my favorite translation, right after the NKJV and the NASB... but it isn't magical in any way...

I have a KJV and NIV...some verses are rather startling in thier differences in meaning between the two. When I really want to know the REAL meaning that is being put out, I trust the KJV much more

I was raised going to church with KJV, and the years trying to understand the version it is written in easily lost my interest from not being able to relate to the literation.

Twenty years later after my falling away from church and studies. I went in search for a Bible that I could understand. I checked out the Catholic version, I liked that I was able to see what the Bible looked like before King James condensed the Bible.

With the NIV I didn't find that version traditional enough for me.

The version that has a hand in transforming my life is the New King James Version by the International Bible Society. The translation is one that I can easily understand and am able to apply scripture correctly to my life. Without having to guess what part of verse may or may not mean.

I do believe people should have a bible that they can relate to. The principles and guidelines on how to live life with God's favor is in every version it's just a matter of how a person chooses to apply that guidance in their lives.

Sent with love in Christ.

And I agree with you. That is why I said I wasn't a big fan of the NIV. It's not a horrible translation, just not the most accurate for study. I think that should have been something I brought forth in my original post as well. There are some bibles great for reading and than some for studying from. NIV delivers a simple text that is easy to understand. It does offer the gospel and does not change the major meanings of the text....yet, I would not use it, for example, when I do my theological studies. I would than use a KJV or a NKJV.

I have also used the NASB for studies and reading. I believe this to be quite a strong version of the original in a more recent text.

Whereas all the major translation agree on about 90% of the text, almost ALL the translations since KJV leave out enough total verses to comprise the ENTIRE BOOK OF JAMES. This does not seem insignificant.........

Absolutely this is significant. There are many versions I wouldn't recommend though. such as the New World Translation. The Living Bible is also one I wouldn't recommend. Such versions as the NIV though, may take out a text yet in the footnotes it tells you that it was/wasn't in the original manuscript and than tells you what it is. So, it's in the bible, just not where you are looking.

And notice how you said ALMOST all...find one other version other than KJV and the KJV only propagation is blown out of the water. I will challenge anyone to find egregious errors within the NKJV. The NKJV much like the KJV is a "word for word" translation as opposed to an "idea for idea" translation.

My friends, if you are truly saved and sincere, as long as the version Glorifies God, you can read it and get to Heaven.

However, the only version that has stood the test of time and has no errors at all is the KJV Bible. I give all who read any other version a challenge to put all the versions together and read them. Then spend time running references to the original Greek and Hebrew in each. Here is what you'll find...

All the modern day bibles will lead into error in many many places.

In the KJV Bible, after honestly running references, which does take time, you'll find nothing but the Pure, Holiness of God with "no mistakes."

May I ask a question which probably will cause a few to get a bit upset...?

How many spend at least one hour reading your Bible and praying "every day?" How many watch "more than one hour" of TV or read other books, or spend lots of time talking more than the one hour daily reading Bible and praying?

If you will spend more time with your Bible and praying, God will plainly show you which Bible version to read as well as you'll be a much stronger witness, and Child of the King, Jesus.

Yes, Bible versions that you read will either make you love Jesus more or love Him less. If a person keeps telling you what a great Christian they are, and how much they help others, then...

Watch their actions in what they do more than what they say, and you'll know "if" their actions speak louder than words.

The same applies to Bible versions.

Watch those who read another version besides the KJV Bible and simply compare what the majority does. Then you won't have any problem knowing what version God truly anoints.

Sam,

I spend hours and hours a day reading the bible as well as posting on here (when work doesn't call of course  )

But your proclaimation that the KJV does not contain errors is incorrect my friend. On the beginning post I posted a couple of links. I suggest you look them over and compare them to your KJV bible. Now, I don't want to come off as a "basher" of the KJV...I have no intent on doing such a thing. As I have said, it is a wonderful version. My only debate is how some claim it is the ONLY reliable version. The NKJV as stated previously, was written the same way as the KJV was, yet with elizibethan english taken out...Do you really believe God speaks in Old English? He calls the Hebrew language the PURE language.

Read over that link my brother, read it with an honest open heart and than tell me theres NO errors. God said He would preserve His word. He has done so. We have a wonderful bible, yet the original manuscripts are the only God inspired writings...some errors did happen when being translated for lack of using the BEST word.

Take care and God bless you.

I do want to state one thing off topic if I may. Though some disagree on this post, all have been very respectful and loving at telling their side. I do appreciate and admire that. Thank you all. Keep it up.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
