Perhaps i'll be kicked off this forum, but i am truly considering converting to a seventh day adventist church. It will not be an impulsive choice. Here is what has happened:

I have been praying for wisdom and insight for some time. Certain traditional preachings i haven't been able to accept after many many sermons preached in their favor. Other things i do believe as truth, i can't hear a sermon on no matter what preacher i try to listen to.

I finally heard this weekend some adventist sermons. I don't know everything about them yet, but i am taking it under serious consideration and would ask for prayer and godly counsel in this matter.

Always rely on scripture no matter what denomination you belong to. If you have a problem with what you are being taught go to the word of God and see if it is true or relevant or not. If it is not then forget it. If it is in scripture then you should except it and get over it.

The Seventh day adventist worship on Saturday and believe that everybody who doesn't worship on Saturday is going to go to hell. How ever they would tell you that on any of their websites. You only get informed of that belief after you are excepted into the church/denomination.

That one single belief is a judgment reserved for God only and that belief, should all by itself tell you what you need to know about them.

You are a very intelligent person so I know you will make the right decision. Look up criticisms of the church and weigh it all prayerfully and Biblically.

One thing that stands out in my very short research (all of 5 minutes for lack of time!) is that the religion was founded based by a woman, Ellen White, who had new revelations? We have the Bible in it's entirety and it seems when a new religion starts because a person SINCE the writings of the Bible has seen some sort of new light, or revelation, a red flag is raised. Joseph Smith, Constantine, Mohammed and a whole host of others have founded religions bringing new 'revelations' based on the Bible, but also extraneous to the Bible, or to previous beliefs based on the Bible.

You got that right Lady.

Fraught,

why jump out of the frying pan into the fire? Why not go the the Word of God? In Hebrews 3:4-8, it says that YOU are God's House...in 1st Corinthians 3:16 it says that YOU are the temple of the Holy Spirit.

I found that in Hebrews 7:5-18 that TITHING is a commandment in the Law of Moses and in verse 18 this law was done away because is weak and useless, but that God has given a better way to draw near to Him.

In Galatians 3:10-14 it says that anyone who does the Law of Moses is CURSED. Tithing is law. All the 'churches' tithe in some form or the other and all are cursed by God in His Word.

The only CHURCH that God recognizes is the One in Your Heart...being that you are the Temple of the Holy Spirit...so, seek...seek...seek (Luke 11:8-13) until you find Jesus in your heart.

The Law of the Spirit of Life (Law of Liberty) has set you free from the Law of sin and death (Law of Moses) if you care to believe.

God changed the Law from tithing, ten commandments, and sacrifices (which makes you a sinner)in Hebrew 7:11-end of chapter...and He changed it to the Law of the Spirit of Life (Which makes you PERFECT). This is very important, because Jesus COMMANDED in Matthew 5:48 for us to be PERFECT. He is coming!! He is coming for a pure, spotless Bride without blemish or any such thing. Ephesians 5:25-27.

In Jesus' Name, Teachtru...Avoid ALL demoninations, for all of them are cursed. Let Jesus' Church enter your heart!

Good advise teach.

:shofar: But His last command before ascending was to go into all the world and make disciples of all men.

How about that command?

i didn't say the only one. but the watching seems to be left out of a lot of other denominations.

Why do you feel the need to belong to a denomination in order to watch?

hey, i've sent a couple of e-mails with questions of my own and some i got from you all so i'll be checking out what they say.

in all seriousness, tho, we have all got to have a support network of real live people around us that aren't playing around. i guess that's what i'm mainly looking for and just haven't found yet where i'm at.

btw, no one has mentioned yet 2 of their beliefs which i figured would leap out right away. one is that we are not born with an immortal soul which leads to the other that there is no eternal hell. i would say those are two that are are very controversial, much more so than anything ellen white could have to say.

i'm not so sure you're right about Jesus having been michael - the teaching i heard named Him as the Son of God. but that i will find out about asap.

Just be careful what you are willing to accept because one watches. If you can, get your hands in one of their DVD teachings called The Final Events of Bible Prophecy, by Pastor Doug Batchelor. Watch it and take notes. Then, go to scripture and see how they place events and compare them to what God says. You will be surprised at how much is out of line with scripture.

May His Spirit guide you through all this and keep His hand on you!

God Bless,

Alan

Are you in touch with 7th Day Adventists? If yes, maybe God led you there, not to join them but to witness to them.

And about no eternal soul and no eternal hell? Another glaring no-no. Makes sense that they have their own translation,

I didn't comment because I didn't know that, wow! Thanks for the information though.

I do believe you can find some real life people who are serious Christians though, it is as you know just not always that easy.

SDA is attractive in that indeed they are a close knit group and they are serious. I would just say they are really wrong on their doctrine.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
