Adam was the one who Scripture says, brought sin into the world.  The Bible does not blame Eve, because she was decieved.

Of course, I do have to agree on this point as it is scriptural....

Romans 5:12

12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

In HIM,

Jesus Christ Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

The KJV (only :t2: ) text says: "She gave also to her husband with her, and he did eat." The Hebrew indicates Adam was geographically 'right there, with her....'

It is evident Adam had heard the entire exchange, and was also taken in by satan's lies (1. You will not die. 2. God's been holding out on you, you're not like God. 3. If you reach for this thing, outside yourself; if you do some WORKS, then you'll be like God).

Notice also that Adam isn't so bold as to try it first himself, afterall, God said 'You'll die,' so he lets Eve do the 'taste test' and see if it's really poisoned. (Is this guy your hero, ladies, or what!??!)

With a blessing,

Leonard, a sinner

Greetings All,

I think Shiloh's and George's answers are closest to the mark. It is always wise when examining the Old Testament to see if there are any corollary verses that might apply in the New Testament - because - The New is in the Old concealed, the Old is in the New REVEALED.

I believe this story gets into the hairy area of the differences between the sexes. You might say that the story of Adam and Eve eating the apple is about "Dumb and Dumber". But I digress.

We see a pattern in the NT how sin occurs:

1) Our "eyes" behold the offending action/deed

2) Our "mind" contemplates it

3) Our "desire" begins to burn within us for it

4) Our "deeds" then fulfill the action and sin is fully bloomed.

We see another pattern in the NT.

Man is made in the image of God.

Woman is made after the image of Man.

Man is the "head" of the family as Christ is head of the church.

Woman's "covering" is first under her father's, then when she is married, her husband becomes the "covering". (Ha, Ha, Ha, NOT in todays society!)

Man is taught by the Lord - so Adam got the Word directly from God.

Woman is taught by her dad, then her husband - so Eve was "taught" by Adam.

Man is responsible directly to God.

Woman is responsible directly to her father, then to her husband.

The woman was "dumb" because she was so easily duped by the serpent.

The man was "dumber" because he had personal revelation direct from God, yet for the sake of 1) his wife, 2) the appearance of the misdeed (it was good), 3) contemplating "the lie", 4) lust reared its ugly head and lastly 5) it was all just too overwhelming for Adam and he took and he ate.

So let's update this so that at least men might see this in relation to modern day happenings. Say you are a postman. On your delivery schedule is the one woman who puts all other women to shame with her beauty and charm and over the years you have often thought - "What if?"

So you deliver a package to her door one day and she opens the door, purrs in her soft words for you to come in and throws open her robe to let you know what you are in store for. All the elements of "sin" is there. It would take a Joseph like character to see the deception of evil and its ruinous effect it might have if you engaged in pursuit of that temporary pleasure.

Now consider another situation. You are a pastor. You are married to the wife of your dreams and have a beautiful family of a dozen kids or more that you dearly love. You are faithful to God and to your congregation and it shows. You are deemed a righteous pillar of God's Kingdom. But your "church" begins to grow, you find you have less and less time to devote to your wife and kids, but you hurt so badly for both the church and your family, it is like you are always being caught between a rock and a hard place. You know that God is telling you to visit and pray for this one particular family. Your wife has a dinner planned and has planned out an evening for you. God is telling you one thing, your wife is expecting another. Whom do you obey?

I bring this up, because I see ALL TOO MANY preachers/pastors, etc. that would obey their wife's wishes OVER the wishes of God. Though I haven't gotten into the messy details with two previous pastors, I believe that it was due to their wives wishes that they are no longer in ministry. Whatever the reason may have been, I do not know, but circumstances appear to have revealed this is what happened.

Well, I am sure to be hammered on this, but I think if it weren't for Eve sinning, we would all be in the Garden right now. Adam first "listened to Eve", as Eve "listened to Satan". How could he have resisted?

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

Adam received the command concerning the tree before Eve was made.

He ate the fruit from her hand in order to share her fate, whatever that was going to be, because he loved her.

See Revelation Ch. 5. Is it possible that that book is in someone else's hand who is also sitting on the throne with the father?

I think the fruit was more of what we consider a book than it was food.

(Gen 3:17) And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree

The answer is simple. You need to look no further than scripture:

.

.

.

.

.

He listened to his wife. :x: :x: :x:

That is a good answer BigJer. Does it explain his motive though?

That the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise -- with no regard for the consequence "in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die"?

You know guys. We only think about one thing, right? :x: :x: :x: Maybe she made the ultamate threat.

We just do not know Adam's motive. The Bible doesn't say. We simply know that he was there.

There were couches in the Garden of Eden?

Com-on, they were innocent. This was before all that.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
