What in the world is Holy Laughter?!!!

Botz, I appreciate your posts. You have helped clear alot of it up for me.

I was getting confused, because some people are saying that laughter is not of God, so I was beginning to doubt what I had experienced. I didn't know anything about "holy Laughter" or "Kundalini", I just was so immersed in the presence of God I laughed. Sometimes I cry (most of the time I cry), but this particular time I laughed. I know it was real. I have been saved for a long time and I think I am pretty good at discernment.

I believe that the Holy Spirit has a genuine use for laughter. I would challenge anyone to demonstrate how genuine laughter in the Spirit will contribute to someone's spiritual decline

I agree :t2:

Laughing uncontrollably because of what God has done is not wrong. Just like everything some people let their flesh in and it becomes wrong. :D

Huh?

Did someone say it was wrong to laugh or rejoice? No.

The problem is that some people have turned this into a new test of orthodoxy, to separate the truly "spiritual" ( ) from the rest of us mere mortals.

Called...  .....I love the overwhelmingly joyful presence of G-d...and like you when I was baptised in the Holy Ghost many moons ago...I was rolling on the floor laughing...with tears of laughter and a deep deep joy...I eventually had to be gagged as I was waking up the neighbourhood. That particular moment in my life was very very dear to me and sustaining through the years ahead...and suddenly made real to me in a very personal way..that I was special to G-d and that He loved me. Springs of living water gushing forth...and my spirit now crying out "G-d my Father"...the Holy Ghost's indwelling being my evidence of a Heavenly future.

When people pour cold water on my faith I just think of myself as a duck.

I appreciate all who are truely concerned about error...and I always weigh things up with the Word of G-d and I look at the motives of those that point out supposed error....but at the end of the day...'I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.' Christ dwells in my heart through faith...and I am rooted and grounded in love.

May the L-rd always be your Chief Joy.

Want to hear something strange?

I heard this from a pastor with a degree in counselling/psychology - something like that - about an experiment done on a woman. I don't recall how it was done, but they were able to stimulate areas of the brain. In this experiment, they tested three spots that were right next to each other in a cluster. When they stimulated one spot, the woman had a deep worship experience. When they stimulated a second spot - again, this is right beside the first - she began shaking all over. When they stimulated the third, she actually had a sexual experience.

Kind of wierd, isn't it?

Why are motives important here? You mean that anyone who disagrees with you has evil intentions? :)

If someone says that 2 + 2 = 4, and has impure motives for pointing it out, does that make it untrue?

Let God read peoples' minds and judge them accordingly. That is not my place, or yours. Let's us just be concerned with finding the truth.

I think where the confusion on this thread is some people are just thinking of "laughter," in and of itself, while others are familiar with what has officially become known as "holy laughter" which was popularized by "the Toronto Blessing."

Nothing is wrong with laughing. But, losing control of your faculties and being controlled by an outside entity that does not exhibit the fruits of the Spirit in those being controlled is certainly something entirely different.

If anyone hasn't seen that DVD I highly suggest that you do.

Blessings...

Psalms 2:4

He who sitteth in the heavens (that is Jesus...and us~Eph.2:2,5,6) shall laugh; the Lord shall have them in derision.

Psalms 37:13

The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming (talking about the wicked~see whole chapter for context).

Psalms 52:6

The righteous (Jesus, head and body~we are the body) shall also see, and fear, and shall laugh at him.

Psalms 59:8

But Thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; Thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.

Ecc.3:4

"...a time to mourn and a time to laugh...."

Luke 6:21

Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep: for now ye shall laugh.

If the LORD, who is holy, sits in the heavens and laughs, then that would be holy laughter, right? And if we are joined to the Lord and He laughs, would we not laugh with Him? I do believe the emotions of God are to be experienced by the believer when He experiences them. Unfortunately, the only emotion we seem to accredit to God Almighty (who is the very author of peace and joy) is grief. Oh that we may know Him........

I will never forget the time when Gary Garner came to our fellowship. He is a no nonsense, finished work teacher who very rarely speaks over thirty minutes. He believes that too much at once just gags the sheep. He wants what is said tasted, swallowed, digested, and a part of the sheep before he moves on. He was teaching on the believer's union with Christ in the death and the resurrection and said, "He who sits in the heavens shall laugh" and then said, "If you are seated together with Him....." and just left off. I burst into laughter at the revelation of Jesus inside of me. It was not a disorderly, try to get attention laughter. It was spontaneous, having bubbled up from the inside of me. Now folks who don't really know me might want to think I do stuff like that all the time but those who do know me know that I don't. I have been accused of being "stoic" and somewhat "unexpressive" for the most part and I cannot (and will not) do something like that just for kicks. For me, it has to come from my spirit because I hate anything imitation.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
