About Billy Graham -

Whatever criticism anyone has to say about his theology or things he has said or the fall-out rater from those who came forward during the crusades, there are two things that I do not believe can be denied:

1. He called people forward who wanted to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior.

2. More people have genuinely come to the faith through him than probably all of us on the Board combined - probably several times over.

Billy Graham is an evangelist. An evangelist's job is simply to call people into the Kingdom.

Joel Olsteen is a pastor. A pastor's job is to shepherd the flock. Evangelism is a part of that job, but not the primary job. Shepherding the flock means leading, guiding, training, nurturing, and disciplining.

Both their jobs is to speak the word in truth!

Pastors like Joel can be beneficial for new believers.

I disagree. He would only lead new believers into error.

But if you want meat and potatoes . . . you probably need to look elsewhere.

The meat and potato's is, God's word, the pure uncorrupted word of God, for the nourishment of our souls

(No offense to anyone here who likes him; getting back to basics is beneficial on occasion, as are reminders of grace and mercy.)

There is no basics with Joel, he preaches the prosperity gospel.

sure is easy to criticize and find fault when you're not the one in the public eye, ain't it!

I do not think any of us is in the position to judge Christians who have devoted their lives to preaching the Gospel and reaching the ears of those who may not have heard. I'm sure that only God knows for sure how many people have devoted their lives to Christ and started living lives pleasing to God because of men like Billy Graham. I don't know much about Mr. Osteen or some of the others mentioned here. But I do know that it takes a special person to lay bare their hearts and souls before people who often do not believe and give them words of hope, peace, mercy and grace. Then to show them the way to Jesus. I don't know if I've reached someone in that way - I hope I've lived my life as an example of a Christian. No, I don't think any of us should too strongly criticize people who are trying to bring the Gospel to hearts in need. Blessings.

If anyone is teaching something contrary to what scripture teaches they are a false teacher teaching a different gospel, therefore a heretic. You don't agree?

Anybody here watch any of his preachings on TV? I strated watching him a few years ago and have read both of his books. He always has uplifting messages and stories to share. Iv'e heard from a few people that Joel doesn't preach from the bible, but I havn't ever heard him misuse a quote or anything...

Well if he isn't using the Bible then he is a humanist not a Christian. We need Christ's message not man's message. All the good without Christ is not worth much.

IF and that is a big IF - someone were doing that .... it may be construed as false. I don't know if the people you think are heretics are though... People we don't agree with? who have an interpretation different from ours? Could be wrong... I'm not willing to label them as false unless I know for sure by study and hearing them.
