Let me ask you this. The commandment against a man sleeping with his daughter-in-law is not repeated in the NT. Would you argue that such activity is now permitted? Of course not.

of course not, but not because it was in the OT, but because it would go against the words of Jesus in regards to adultery

what if the daughter in law is also a widow?

Which is still rooted in the OT. There is not ONE NT ethic that is not found in the OT. The NT is in part, an illumination on the OT. It expands upon it and explains it. Everything Jesus taught was based on the law of Moses, and He quoted extensively in all of His teachings.

The law is not at odds with the NT. The NT is very Torah-positive.

A Spirit filled Christian would know that it is wrong. And outside of marriage it is wrong in God's eyes, and marriage to your daughter is wrong by the laws of most governments by which we are also held.

But mostly even the thought should sent your conscience into a cringe. That is the new deal, you don't have to play what if. The Holy Spirit gives you the answer. You do not have to make pointless arguments about the law any more, except on this forum.

Isnt the new covenant of salvation broken by people every day as well? WE repent and believe, yet people lose faith and fall into sin every day... does this make the NEW covenant void to everyone?

Like the Abrahamic Covenant, the New Covenant is based SOLELY on the grace of God and SOLELY on God's faithfulness to His Word.

The Mosaic Covenant was not like that - it was based EQUALLY on the obedience to the Israelites to the Law and on their faithfulness to God.

The New Covenant, like the Abrahamic Covenant, is based SOLELY upon God's faithfulness to His Word.

It does not mean we have a license to sin. But if we do sin, as the N.T teaches, we have AN ADVOCATE with the Father - Jesus Christ THE RIGHTEOUS (who is "THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS"

And NO. We don't STILL NEED a blood-sacrifice. IT WAS DONE ONCE FOR ALL TIME. IT IS FINISHED. And WHEN IT WAS DONE, THE LAW WAS FULFILLED. The Roman Catholic Eucharist teaches that we need a continuous blood sacrifice in the New Testament. It's not Biblical.

So we no longer need the blood of Christ to cover us?

The blood that Christ shed on the cross 2,000 years ago covered the sins of all the righteous AND BELIEVING saints who came before His time (Abraham BELIEVED God, and it was credited to him FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS - and it was not Abraham's righteousness that was credited to him for righteousness, it was his FAITH IN THE WORD OF GOD that was credited to him for rightousness - yet Abraham still needed the blood of Christ that would be shed for Abraham's sins 2,000 years later. Without it, Abraham will not rise from the dead and will nor inherit eternal life).

And Christ's blood that He shed 2,000 years ago on the cross covered (past tense) the sins of all those who would still come into this world and who would BELIEVE.

His blood was shed ONCE FOR ALL TIME, and covers all whose faith was/is/will be in the Word of God and faithfulness of God to His promises.

Also the law was ONLY fulfilled by Christ, not us, and though we are under grace we are STILL held accountable for our sins

Think about what you just said

NO. It's not a renewed covenant.
Sorry, but the fact that the Bible uses "Brit Hadashah" means it is. You may not like it, but its the truth, and no amount of ranting will change it.

It was broken by the people and needed replacing. Jesus said the only grounds for divorce is adultery, and Israel broke the marriage-contract. A NEW covenant was needed, and God graciously provided a NEW covenant. Hadashah does not mean "renewed". It means "renewal" - as in something completely new - replacing the old - like a new day and like the new heavens, new earth and new Jerusalem.

Sorry, but I read and speak Hebrew. Dashah is word used to describe the recurrence of the seasons each year. It is also a word used to refer to the resharpening of the dull edge of sword. As used by Jeremiah, it means to renew the covenant that was broken. It certainly does not mean to replace or abrogate God's law.

Can't you see how you're contradicting yourself, Shiloh? Every new season is a completely new season - it does not "renew" the old season. Each day is a completely new day - it does

not "renew" yesterday. As used by Jeremiah, "hadashah" means renewal in the sense of something replacing what preceded it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
