My friend and her husband are trying to talk me into going to one. How do you feel about them?

First, I will admit that I have never gone to one, so I speak out of ignorance on them. Yet, I always wonder why someone has to go to a conference to get healed? From what I have read about them, they cost good money. I have also wondered why they charge to do Gods work? Is that not charging for a service, therefore, profiting from His gift?

Amen!

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I'm with OneLight on this.

You don't need to go to a conference, you need to go to Jesus. It's free!

Amen!!!! Salvation and healing are free! Lord have mecy on ignorant people who want to benefit financially from a gift of God! Can't they trust him for their finances? I don't recall the apostle Peter going to healing conferences to heal the sick. It was done in Jesus name. I do remember a gigantic tent revival in Irving, Texs when I was a child, though, of ORAL ROBERTS (before he changed from Pentecostal to whatever he calls himself now??????) and he was praying for the sick. He had been with Jesus Christ, not a healing conference. I will never forget the annointing and power of God coming from that man as long as I live. The demons knew him and came out screaming when he commanded them to. He said, all of you people bow your heads in reverece to God, the cast out demons may come your way and enter you. Now THAT was a miracle healing service. The young people of today may not have ever been to one. It's a pity. But God knows what his children need, another miracle revival would be great.

May I ask you if you mean what you said underlined in red? IF so, can you elaborate on this because it sounds like you are saying that those saved will be possessed by demons.

I agree with you all. I was invited but I think I will decline. Something inside is telling me that I should not go. I'm just very skeptical about stuff like this. Like others have said, why can it not be done in the privacy of one's home? Why the need for so much publicity?

I guess I kind of see this as prayer. And as it is said in scriptures, prayer should be in private (in our closets and shut the door, Matt. 6:6).

I have very mixed feelings about this.

Don't get me wrong, Jesus healed in public places for His glory. He can heal anywhere He wishes. It is the hype, the "come see me" attitude that takes away from God and places it on the person who is given the gift. To hold something like this in a place where people have to pay to get in is not right. They should hold it outside where people can be prayed for at no cost, even if it takes them days to do so. It is more personal and one on one. I never read in scripture where anyone healed a whole group of people at once. It was always personal, one on one.

I totally agree.

And I too speak out of ignorance on this subject.

Do you want to turn this into a debate about whether or not a christian can be demon possessed? I am just telling you what Oral Roberts said. He always said to bow your head and respect God when he was casting out demons in his meetings. Christian or no, if someone would not reverence God as he requested (and why wouldn't a christian do this????), then there was a possiblity the cast out demon may enter them. There was fear and trembling in that place for the most part and I mean the kind where people fear God. Remember the story of Ananasis and Sapphria being struck dead when they lied to God about a sale they had made and brought to money to the apostle Peter? (spelled wrong I'm sure)? Great fear came on the christians when they heard it.

I do not believe a christian can be demon possessed as long as he/she is following Jesus. I don't mean to start an argument here. I enjoy this forum and I know there are some good people here. However what God has done is real and as far as I'm concerned it shouldn't be debated about, unless you folks think I am lying about it. And that's not an option because I am not lying about it. Furthermore (not referring to you especially, so don't take it that way), it seems that too much "analyzing", "debating", quarreling, etc. etc. goes on here. Oh well, I suppose few want a deeper walk with God and to know his love and power and hear about exploits done in His name. The debating is more fun to some. As for me, I want to help people, as I am sure you do also. Perhaps I don't belong in this forum, so I will say goodbye.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
