What is the teaching of most of you here regarding the disciples that were sent out by Jesus ?

Were they gifted with powers and insight that no believer since then has been given?

Were they "set apart" different from all other believers?

The disciples where just people like you and me, given a unique oportunity, just as we are. They where no different to us, simple people thrown into something new and very different. They had the same issues we did, they lacked understanding like we do, they had lots of grace just like us and made lots of mistakes, just look at he number of times Jesus had to take them aside to expllain things to them. But we have far more than they ever did, and we will do far greater things then they ever did. The time is now. Our Lords day is soon upon us. The disciples had there day, its now the day for the sons of God to rise up and show the power of God to this dying world.

In His Love

Hi Franky, IMO when Jesus empowered and sent out the seventy the Holy Spirit backed them up when they needed, but when they returned they were powerless again.

Later Jesus commands them to wait after his death and resurrection, in Jerusalem untill they recieve power from on high. It is recorded that the Holy Spirit came upon them as tongues of fire and they were greatly empowered such that 3000 were converted that day, and after that experience they moved in great power.

Charles Finney a man steeped in the power of God, says that command is for all christians. We are to wait in our "jerusalem" untill we get Gods power.

IMO it is not indifferent or inactive waiting, but a seeking God and His face, repenting of all known sin, asking for power for service.

So far to my shame and detriment i have not done this.

I don't think they were unique from believers today. Jesus taught that the miracles will continue as long as believers are still on the earth.

(John 14:12 [KJV])

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater [works] than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

(Acts 2:39 [KJV])

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The only legitimate question is: why aren't we seeing a whole lot more miracles today.

The Seventy were chosen by Christ, as were the 12 disciples from the beginning. To be chosen, you had to be willing to be His disciple. You can read in Luke 9:57-62 the cost of being His disciple. They were not just the every day Christian, but dedicated.

It would be more accurate to say that the original disciples/apostles were/are unique in terms of their experience, calling and ministry. It would make sense that the gifts that accompany them would be unique (such as people getting healed under Peter's shadow).

That is not to say that God does not operate supernaturally through believers today, but no one today possesses the unique ministry that they had.

Then the Holy Spirit moved upon the Disciples and the 70. We, on the other hand, have the Holy Spirit indwelling us. The reason that great healing is not occurring today is because we do not have the faith of a mustard seed. We have faith, but there is also doubt; this doubt prevents the Holy Spirit from doing all He can do through us.

God is moving supernaturally today. I can't imagine anyone thinking He is not. The problem is that we get presumptuous in our assumption that because God did something through the apostles, that He should do the same thing through us. God is not obligated to us for that. It is very dangerous to take stories of the apostles and make doctrines out of them.

Did I do that?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
