I felt compelled to share a personal testimony regarding this issue.

Yesterday, my husband and I saw the movie for sale at Wal-mart (for those who are going to buy it, it's there.) We had seen the movie at the theater and thought it was very good.

But, I have to say, after all that the Lord has been speaking to me lately about the church becoming intertwined with the "things" of the world, and how it is an abomination, I could not rest easy about bringing this DVD home. Here's why:

I feel an unsettling in my spirit, about the fact that now that this FACT, that JESUS DIED ON THE CROSS FOR OUR SINS, has been mixed with a venue that we as people, generally view as "entertainment", i.e. - renting a video, I wonder if it does not demean the very TRUTH, of what Christ did? When we reduce such an AWESOME EVENT, into an normal evenings movie viewing, what does that say? I just can't take something that was so HUGE and reduce it to a couple of hours on a tv screen, it just doesn't feel right. I cannot reconcile it within. I cannot come to terms with what that might say to my children about HIS ACT OF LOVE. That we now think of it as something we've combined with our usual Friday night movie viewing for entertainment. Oh, I know it's not entertaining, but it seemingly has been reduced by even allowing it to become just like any other DVD, I might have sitting on the shelf. It just doesn't seem right now, in looking back. I cannot fathom the death of the Lord Jesus Christ, now being mixed with commericalism, merchandising, money and WALMART! They just don't go together.

I'm sorry if anyone has been offended, but I just HAD to speak this now.

In His Love,

Suzanne

btw...does the criticisms of this movie remind anyone else of how the Pharisees criticized Christ for healing on the Sabbath, fellowshipping with "sinners", etc.?

Let's not forget that it was the Pharisees who always questioned Jesus' methods and ways. And we know what Christ thought of the Pharisees.

Tess I find this a bit of a sad comment really.

True some of us did not like the movie for various reasons, but give us credit for thinking long and hard about it,praying and responding according to our own understanding...I for one am pleased that in spite of my misgivings people have been saved through the medium of this film...In fact I am told that many Moslems have been remarkably touched by the film..even though they flocked to see it because they heard it was anti-semitic.

Jesus the Messiah may have had some very strong words to say at times to the religious leaders including the Pharisees...but He loved them, and ultimately He died for them...Jesus said strong things to many people including the Apostle Peter ...but there were many Pharisees and other religious leaders that really respected what Jesus taught and ultimately came to faith in Him. :t2:

I appreciate your feeling, but remember this movie is a tool to bring people to the Lord. Have you forgotten how many people have repented after seeing this movie?

I just thank the Lord this movie was made... :t2:

And I feel compelled to add this comment to those criticizing, for one reason or another, this movie.

If you criticize something that BRINGS people TO the Lord...ultimately, the only WINNER is satan...remember that... ;)

I can only say that I do not know if TRUE CONVERSIONS have been made because of this movie, or merely more psuedo Christians who have not included true repentance for the conversion of the heart. That is where the enemy REALLY gets a foot hold.

That is wonderful Called. I'm assuming there was someone there to counsel her about repentance and sin?

If so, praise the Lord that there was a witness to testify.

She grew up in church, so she already knew about repentance and sin. In fact she is on the boards here and she goes under the name Born Again. :t2:

I see the point you are trying to make though. Alot of people may have seen the movie, had an emotional response and thought that they were saved because of that. Hey, that happens in churches every Sunday! But, don't assume that it happens in every case. I am sure many people were truly saved by seeing that film.

God Bless!

Debbie ;)

I do certainly hope so! As I said above, I don't believe there's anything more deceptive nor destructive, than one who "thinks" they have been saved, when in fact, they have not. I've witnessed to many in this state, it is terribly prideful and deceiving.

If you can show me how the Holy Spirit can work in a person, from the scriptures, who is depending on works and sacraments for salvation, the means will be justified. Those who justify the means by the end have no standing. The bible says
Ro 10:17  So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The bible also says

2Ti 4:3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

What saith the scriptures?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
