Struggling with prayer

There are Christians who are so eloquent and seem so easily to say all the right things and pray in a way that seems to reach the very eaves of heaven. I enjoy hearing their prayers and I feel uplifted and blessed by them. I have a friend who is a beautiful Christian and she has Down's Syndrome. Her face is radiant in His Grace. Her prayers are simple and come from the largest heart I know. I remember being at the depths of a serious depression after losing someone I loved and she came to my bedside and curled up next to me and she put her hands on my face and said "God, please love our sissy now - she hurt inside and fix her heart God". That honest, sweet prayer meant more to me than any I had heard or could have prayed myself. Sometimes - we need to hear simple words because those are the ones that our hearts can understand when our minds are in such a state of confusion. Peace be with you.

Believer that is such and amazing story! WOW... I was reminded of Moses when I read what she did. Moses prayed in the same way to! He would fall down on his face in tears and pray with the same intensity I got here from reading her words. Wow... just wow...

I don't understand why everything has to be so hard for me. "Being a Christian" is, without a doubt, one of the hardest things I have ever attempted in my entire life. Where's this peace, love, and joy everyone else has? Wish they'd throw some my way!

Christ never promised that following Him would be easy. In fact, it was just the opposite! The joy is that our sins are forgiven and we have eternal life with Christ. This world and its troubles is just temporary. It isn't easy to turn away from worldly "pleasures" but the world's pleasures are not everlasting. If we can help you let us know. We all struggle at times and it is important to help each other along.

Have you talked with Jesus about it? I am sure that it is difficult to overcome this, especially if you attend a church that is likely to have little statues and such. All of the things that you mentioned in your first post can become idols if you believe they have power. They don't. They are just things like any other thing. Only Jesus has the power to save us. A cross might be a reminder of what He did for us, and it is good to be reminded of that.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

It is only faith through Jesus Christ that saves us. Don't put faith in anything else. Religious icons and rites are all man-made.

I behol the Christ in you

Creative in the image of God,

Endowed with qualities and abilities that makes you needed and important

Not only to me, but to God and His plan

I believe that you have the understanding

I bless you and have faith in you.
