No one "understands" the Trinity. The Trinity is a mystery that the Bible expects to accept and believe. We are not asked to understand it.

If a Person Thought That Jesus Was Not God Can They Still Be Saved

Well that depends on why they don't believe Jesus is God. Ignorance is one thing; ignorance can be educated.

If a person professes to be a Christian but rejects Jesus as God in the face of Scripture which claims Jesus to be divine, and they reject Jesus' own claim to be God, then they really need to reexamine the authenticity of their profession of faith. A true Christian would not oppose or reject the Bible's teachings on the Divinity of Jesus.

Correct. I don't try to understand why God made things the way they are; I just know He will explain them when it's time.

Pr 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.

7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Here is an excerpt I'd like to share from a book on creeds I read 20 years ago or so:

". . . the nature of man is an intelligent being. Just because he is intelligent the Christian, of all men, has to learn to discern with agonizing clarity what is conceivable by him about God Himself. What cannot be thought through critically and expressed with reasonable clarity cannot demand the allegiance of man's whole being. Understanding is necessary for man's full commitment. Hence faith must be spoken and made intelligible. That is not to say faith must be enclosed within the limits of reason, but it does mean that faith must never require neither the closing of the mind nor the sacrifice of the integrity of the mind."

With all the verses about "understanding" and the exhortations to seek it, I am hardly content, unless I am actively in pursuit of it as a promise of God to those who diligently seek Him. Hence my signature verse . . .

roman's 10:8-10 says that if you believe with your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and that God raised Him from the dead, you are saved.

what it does NOT say is that one has to grasp the concept of the trinity or understand that Jesus and God are one. it says you have to believe and confess that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead.

how many thousands of children each year accept Christ as their saviour and don't yet understand everything about Him? i was seven when i accepted Christ. i don't know if i understood it all back then. but i do know that i accepted salvation and was saved, and as my relationship grew and i matured both chronologically and spiritually, my knowledge of who Jesus is deepend.
