Half and Half Christian

All of Colossians 3 is relevant, but here are a few verses...

Col 3:1-3 MKJV If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Be mindful of things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life has been hidden with Christ in God.

Col 3:16-17 MKJV Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And everything, whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him.

Doesn't this answer the question?

Can you work in this job as if you were working for the Lord?

If he owns the station i do not see why he would have no control over what was aired on it.

As for the christian lif being seperate from the work life, i don't see that at all.

We're called to be Christians everywhere, not where its convinient.

I agree that one cannot fully serve God and profit from enterprises that are Ungodly. There are many Christians who work in all types of industries that work there to support themselves, their families, have health insurance and benefits. I know people who are Christian who work in check cash and pop-up 'bank' establishments that are little more than loan sharks. It's important to behave as a Christian and have Christian values in all parts of your life - at the same time, I can imagine that a lot of people would be unemployed and homeless if they didn't work schedules that were required (sabbath open, holidays, etc.). Saying you are a Christian and working in a job that is UnGodly and involving profit from the exploitation of others - is different and wrong. imo

But what is an "unGodly" job? I mean sure, some are obvious, but there are many I am sure we would not agree on.

I know a Christian who works for Anheuser-Busch, is this wrong?

The company I work for is one of the largest in the world and makes millions upon millions in profits, could some not say this is the exploitation of others?

Very true, somewhere between stripper and pastor there is a large grey area, and many christians are quick to point out how much 'better' their jobs are.

You are correct - I guess almost every job is has some aspect that is not pleasing to God. In specific I was speaking of people who work in obviously corrupt and unGodly jobs - sex workers, pornography, deliberately taking advantage of people for profit to yourself. No, working for a beer company in my opinion is not wrong - being behind a bar and deliberately 'over-serving' someone is wrong (and illegal). I'm a statistics analyst for the state government (don't laugh)...

I did not think I was judging another Christian, If I did RG - I did not mean to.

Here's my question....(I have asked him this question and his answer is I'm being too religious) If a person claims to be christian is it right for that person to own a radio station that promotes drinking, worldly songs, promotes dance parties,etc... and then for that person to say that's my job side of my life but my job has nothing to do with my christianity. I would think since he is the owner of this radio station doesn't he have the right to decide what type of content he will include? Or am I wrong?

No I don't think you are wrong. How can a person that is truly born again with a regenerated heart for Chrst promote the things of the world without receiving conviction from the Holy Spirit? The man owns the station and could just as well use it to promote Christ, and be blessed in the process.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

i felt like i was a failure, because if people who knew me didn't know it was me doing that, then i must not be living the christian life visably enough.

I will start by saying that it is wrong to say his job has nothing to do with his Christianity. You cant be an effective Christian and have separate lives.

But I would ask you these questions:

Does his radio station promote over drinking? Is drinking itself wrong?

are worldly songs "wrong"

is dancing a sin?

Is there a job out there short of being a missionary or a pastor that does not have some "worldly" aspect to it that could be seen as "bad"?

I am a manager at a major discount store chain and we sell alcohol, we sell worldly music, we sell "dance revolution". Should I not have this job because of these things?

I would not work for a company that does these things, I would not up and quit my job immediately, but I would ask God to help me find another job. Much of the wordly music is pure garbage and trash, alcohol destroys more lives than any other drug, dance revolution is scary, not pure I'm sure. None of these things will be in heaven. I would feel like I was aiding and abetting the devil. No doubt you are a good christian, but I would spend some time thinking about what I said.
