Grace to you,

Okay well if the words inner self are used it is meant in terms of listening to God in you. Geroge Fox was pointing for others to follow God. This is the opposite of following one's own will.

Does this inner voice take precedence over the Word? When in conflict what takes precedence?

Peace,

Dave

how does one know whether the inner voice they are hearing is God's voice and not some other voice?

That is easy, God is love. The voice of love is God. We all know but some surpress it.

i could have sworn i'd posted... but my post seems to be invisible to me. EDIT: never mind, i found it, it is on the previous page. didn't realize so many other posts had been made since i said that! duh....

my question is, how do we know that this "inner voice" we are listening to is God's voice and not some other?

The answer is that we try the spirit to see whether it is of God or not. :)

However, I'm certain that this isn't going to be the answer you get. :o The Word of God is being moved aside in place of the spirit, which spirit we don't really know because were not allowed to try it against the Word to see whether or not it be of God.

The thing that is clear from the Bible is that God does not oppose His own Word but that His Spirit works in conjunction with the revealed nature of God as contained in His Word.

Peace,

Dave

i knew that LOL. i was wanting to see how seeker would answer! :)

if i'm understanding seeker correctly, the voice in our heart is what he thinks is God's voice... but God says not to listen to the heart because it is deceptive!

i have just found this account of George Fox and i am both excited that true Christians exist and subdued as i see now for 20 yrs i have been decieving myself that i am Christ`s just because i believe.

Edit links*

This mans life couldve been straight out of the book of Acts or the gospels, and its staggering that the same people that resisted Christ the truth are still resisting Him today, some here on worthy.

I care not if i get banned for saying such, what do i care im not even saved as I still sin and crucify Christ. I know i was called and i loved going to church and worshipping Him as I thought Him to be, but i didnt follow and i never truly obeyed and i thought i was saved from my sins while sin was still my master.

Satans biggest lie is that Christians still sin.

Whoever commits sin practices lawlessness; for sin is lawlessness. 1 John 3:4

As you have received Christ Jesus, the Lord, so walk in him. Col 2:6

I believe the Bible is the true Word of God (no if's, ands or buts).

I do not believe that the spirit of God dwells in all men. I don't think Scripture states that emphatically either.

I do not believe that Fox was an apostle, any more than any of his contemporaries or those who have come since have been.

Whenever, I've listened to my 'inner voice' - it has usually gotten me in trouble. I give all to God and He does lead me... the inner voice is too often my voice speaking what I want to hear.

Blessings.

That is easy, God is love. The voice of love is God. We all know but some surpress it.

so what makes us certain that the voice we're hearing is "love"? your "easy answer" is not definitive at all. it's very subjective. it sounds like "if it feels good it's of God". heck, pedophiles think their inappropriate feelings for a child feel good. homosexuals think their sinful lust for another member of the same sex is the voice of love. teenage girls who give into their boyfriends think that the voice they're hearing is love. teenage boys who are obsessed with the cute little cheerleader think the voice they're hearing is love. the mistress who is sneaking to a hotel room with her married lover thinks that she's hearing the voice of love.

so i ask you again. how do we know the inner voice we are hearing is of GOD?

Grace to you,

God is Justice as well. His Just nature does not supercede His Love and vice a versa. :)

How do you know the voice of Love? How is it expressed?

Peace,

Dave

Grace to you,

The Bible does not suffer us to listen to an un-named inner voice. :)

How do you delineate between the supposed Truth found in the Koran versus the Way, the Truth, and the Life found in the Bible?

All men do not contain the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God is imparted to the Believer only. This comes by Faith and Faith cometh by hearing.

Peace,

Dave

The whole bible old and new testimates are about following the voice of God. Read it again and check it out.

No the Word is the Inner Voice.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
