Italy: American effort in Haiti a 'dismal failure'

I don't know about y'all but I am SICK of the snide, backstabbing comments from those who don't do nearly as much or expend nearly as much effort and money to help when a disaster strikes.....apparently the peanut gallery is having nightmares about our military. And a 'Single civilian to take charge'? Like who? Xavier Solana, maybe?

Well, 'Guido' is on my last nerve.....he's fine for small scale stuff but Haiti is....what's the word? It's GONE. There are two million people homeless, over 200,000 estimated dead and many thousands more missing. And they don't have that fine Italian infrastructure, stable government and money; they had very little before the earthquake, now they have nothing, not even a government. Only an army can stabilize Haiti. And saying that our soldiers are just there for photo ops??? I'd like to have a one on one with Mr. Bertolaso.....

The relief effort in Haiti like all other before them is a public relations activity for the goverments that provide them.The local officials see it as a chance to make money for themselves.From the donations which we give only a trickle arrives to the ones that need. The italian is right in the sense that somebody else gets the credit for helping which he wanted for himself. It shows one more time how powerless we humans are without God. Haiti and its people will soon be forgotten.

Maybe he should be out protecting his Prime Minister from being punched in the face instead condemning the efforts of US as they undertake helping a country that is almost completely physically and financially devastated.

We MUST always support Israel but....they aren't in desperate straits like Haiti. It seems the world's interest is already waning and that country is becoming more, not less, desperate by the day.
