I think the finding show that Nefertiti was not Tut's mother. But they do know which mummy was his mother.

That is true. The video I saw on YouTube was a few years old. It's all pretty interesting though.

There is a running theory (and it does have its detractors) that Neffertiti was the mother of Tutankamen. In fact, some archeologists and anthropoligists believe that Akhenatan was the brother of Neffertiti and the two them married and that Tut was the result. That might explain his physical problems. I think there are some links to that info the article Neb provided.

I was on YOUTube watching a video about Neffertiti and why she is so disgraced by the ancient Egyptians. There is a archeologist who believes she has found the body of Neffertiti and it was badly damaged and the damage appears to be on purpose.

As the article state, Neffertiti and Akhenatan tired to abolish the polytheism of Egypt in favor of worshipping only one god. I personally wonder if it had anything to do with Egypt's contact with the Israelites when they were in slavery.

In the YOUTube video, they did a facial reconstruction of mummified head of the woman believed to be Neffertiti, and I must say, whoever the woman is, she was absolutely beautiful even by today's standards.

Akhnaten the heretic abolished the worship of AmenRa and pretty much ticked off the wealthy priests of that cult who were more powerful and wealthy than even the pharaohs. They plotted and were able to get their religion restore. At that point, per the beliefs of that time, they obliterated the names, memorials and memory of Akhnaten and his family. Ensuring, according to their beliefs, that they would cease to exist in the afterlife too. Tuts original name was Tutakhnaten. His advisors, influenced by the still angry priests of AmenRa reestablished the main religions and wiped out the cult of Aten.

Akhnaten has fascinated me from an early age. Besides abolishing the religious system, he changed centuries of artistic style from the rigid depictions you all recognize to the Amarna style. One of the symbols of Aten exists to this day as the ankh.

For all that Akhnaten was monotheistic, his god was still false.

Marrying brothers and sisters was common among pharaohs, as they alone were seen as a form of god and therefor should never marry commoners. Queen Tiy, a possible antecedent to Tut, was a commoner and that was a major scandal of the time.
