You've taken this out of context Steven. My purpose in creating this topic has nothing to do about giving or tithing.. I just want to know if God has any thoughts or principles in the Bible on setting goals while we are living here, on this earth. We put things in eternal perspective making sure that we think about Eternal gains and loss... but what about our lives on this planet?

1. Are we to live day-to-day aimlessly about? Just counting in God's provision everyday? Always afraid to take the next step because it may or may not be the Lords will?

2. Or are we to count on Gods provision every day yet making plans to conquer cities and towns and overtaking them while entering into the promised land above (..Heaven)?

Which one is it? To live with goals, or without them????

Why one extreme of the other? What about somewhere in the middle?

For me, I set plans and allow Him to make them come true, if they are of Him. I have no high goals, just what is necessary to get by and do His work. This, I am content with.

I think goals are fine, depending on the goals, no I do not have scriptural back up but I do have an example. If you set a goal to be closer to him, or a goal to bring more people to him, is this wrong? So other goals are a good thing, a goal to get out of debt, like I have, is not a bad thing as debt is warned against in the Word. So setting a goal, planning your steps is not a bad thing, as long as you let Him direct your steps.

Often it's a matter of progressive revelation, brother. As you are faithful in the small things, he will give you more..but until you've done the small things, He may not give anything at all.

And there are also the times of testing where you have to trust in doing what you know is His will. In other words, when faced with a decision, you choose the one that most honors Him and then you find out why it happened this way.

Amen!

Right, and I agree. I would also add that sometimes, the answer is given to us in the Word, and it is hidden and we need to diligently search for it and study to find it.

Waiting for a loud booming voice from heaven to tell you whether or not to marry an unbeliever is not wise, because God has already answered that question  . Similarly, I believe He has given us guidelines to follow in the Word that we are to apply to situations. His directions for us, will never contradict what He has already said.

Personally again, only in my humble opinion, is this, regarding your current situation, The same thing. Plan your steps but let him direct your paths, and if your unemployed and in debt then anything that takes care of you and your family that is your career goal for the moment, once that is taken care of even if its a menial job, then you can focus on what other goals you may have.

Blien I am very abstract at times and mean no harm by it! Intresting comment you have made here in bold! Pointedly it was Christ's # 1 priority The Father's Will be done.

I have began this type of living fully realizing that in my own effort I will miss the mark. I will fashion my life after the one He (Christ) lived instead of the one the world fashion for me. I do not expect to be widely accepted but it was the advice of Paul-

1 Cor 11:1

Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

NKJV

You sound like Napoleon

If I have planned to set myself to follow His Still small voice that would be a goal? Yes?

Which one is it? To live with goals, or without them????

for me one goal that is to die to self and live for Him. The really great truth is we shall stand before Him and give an account of ourselves to Him. Therefore we work out our salvation in fear and trembling because He has set a mark that can only be attained through the working of Himself.

Phil 3:12-20

12 Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. 16 Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.

17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern. 18 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
