Before you answer, please be sure to understand what I mean by what I'm asking.

Philippians 1:21 - For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Question: Why is to live "Christ"? What does this mean?

Matt. 10:7 - "And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'

("Hand" meaning: approached 10, approaching 7, came 1, came close 1, came near 1, come near 2, comes near 2, coming near 1, draw near 3, drawing near 2, hand 7, near 5)

Question: What does it mean that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand as far as we and our lives are concerned?

Psalms 116:15 - Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His godly ones.

Question: If we think of our death being precious to the Lord because it means we are with Him in Heaven, why would He hold our blood accountable to a murderer who killed one of us?

I'm not sure I'm hitting the depth of what I'm pondering, but hopefully enough will come across for responses that will assist my pondering.

That's an interesting question Neb, I need to think on it a bit more. But this comes to mind...

Joh 15:13 CJB

13 No one has greater love than a person who lays down his life for his friends.

Laying down your life is the greatest love because your life has such value?

Philippians 1:21 - For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

Question: Why is to live "Christ"? What does this mean?

It means putting ones life in the hands of the Lord. Everything. It means enduring everything the unbelieving world throws at us. Not buckling or wavering in the faith. Christ was faithful even onto death.....we should live as Christ lived. Without fear.

The kingdom of heaven is open to whoever wants it. It's right here......all we have to do is ask.

Psalms 116:15 - Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His godly ones.

Question: If we think of our death being precious to the Lord because it means we are with Him in Heaven, why would He hold our blood accountable to a murderer who killed one of us?

Because the murderer is going against the commandments of God. "Thou shalt not murder".

Born

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:12-13

To Walk

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16:24-26

In Master's Foot Steps

Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.

It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 2 Timothy 2:10-11

And he said to them, When you say your prayers, say, Father, may your name be kept holy and your kingdom come. Luke 11:2 (BBE)

The KING

The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:35-36

And The Kids

And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. Galatians 4:6

The Family Table

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:4

And The Family Name

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. Jeremiah 15:16

Lambs

How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?

And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.

Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:12-14

His Word

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12:47-48

His Name

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. Luke 21:17

And For His Joy

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2

He Gave His Holy Blood

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 1 Peter 1:18-19

Showing Glory To The Faithful

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:7-9

And Judgement To Those Who Just Will Not

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Hebrews 6:4-6

Believe

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalms 126:5-6

Simply

For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:2

Jesus

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12

Believe

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Your questions are the subject of a five day preach

Why is this life valuable to the Lord? The short answer is we were created to display His Glory and to worship Him. As a believer, besides the Love He has for His creation, we are valuable in that we are to spread the good word, "Go into the nations and make disciples".

Only until the whole world knows Him will things written come to pass. It is up to us to ensure the whole world does know Him.

So we are valuable to Him in so many ways (this does NOT mean he owes us anything at all.... We live only under His Grace)

Laying down your life is the greatest love because your life has such value?

That's a good thought!

OK, but why does my or anyone's life on this earth have such value?

Because of it's intrinsic value. You are made in the image of God and therefore are a pearl of great price. The value and potential that you have are immeasurable in Christ. Your a diamond in the rough.

To live is Christ =living for Christ(being a witness) was Paul's goal and desire.Killing the old man and becoming the new.

OK, but how is this a contrast to "To die is gain"?

And how does your response fit with the question: "Why is this life valuable to the Lord?"

It means putting ones life in the hands of the Lord. Everything. It means enduring everything the unbelieving world throws at us. Not buckling or wavering in the faith. Christ was faithful even onto death.....we should live as Christ lived. Without fear.

OK, but would you relate this to my OP question, too? Thanks!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
