To say that God didn't allow something is to say that something happened without God's permission, which contradicts the idea that God is all powerful.

Yes we only have to read the book of Job.

We can disagree if God makes bad things happen or allows bad things to happen but one thing is certain. Nothing happens on earth without God allowing it to happen.

What if i somehow inherited 100 million dollars tomorrow and having all this money i then started to become focused on how to invest it and how to keep this wealth secure. So much so that i started to loose focus on God and His calling to me (what i should be doing to serve Him) Would a loving God allow my investments to fail? Would he allow a con-man to defraud me of millions? would he allow the companies i invested in to go bankrupt and so on to take away the money that was causing me to loose focus on God? Would He allow me to ruined financially to take away what had become a block in my relationship with Him?

Well i Hope He would :P

I have said this before but it is still a great saying that i love.

A blessing is anything that leads me to God a curse is anything that takes me away from Him.

So what people commonly think as being blessings (like inheriting 100 million dollars) can actually be a curse. While things that people commonly see as a curse (bankruptcy) could actually be a blessing.

Romans 8:28

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

All praise The Ancient Of Days

Cool analogy :t2:

-Sorry John buoy, got a bit carried away and did a soap box. Nothing personal John, but it is one of my pet peeves. The same as I say God never sends anyone to damnation. They send themselves there by being disobedient.

I'hop off the box now,

Hope you don't mind if I quote Somebody else on this topic :t2:

"God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world." - C. S. Lewis

I'd say good ole C.S. Lewis Said it pretty good.

God Bless,

Dave

After reading through this thread the Spirit reminded me of a verse and I want to share it with everyone.

Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of highest privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God's glory.

We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us--they help us learn to endure. 4And endurance develops strength of character in us, and character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation. And this expectation will not disappoint us. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. Romans 5:2-5

Let's rejoice in the pain and realize that God is building character in us. Everything that happens to us must pass through His mighty hands first...He must approve it, therefore we know that it is for our own good. He loves us so much and ALL things work together for good to those who love Him...Let's all desire to be placed in the Refiner's fire, when He is finished purifying us we will look like His Son. :)

Our God is amazing...all glory to Him alone... ;)

In His Love,

Debbie ;)

Oh Man! I forgot to answer the question, after that long post! YES, He will use pain... :);)

I think God uses pain when He wants to. I also think that sometimes He either allows something bad to happen or causes something bad to happen to avert something worse from happening further down the road. For instance, my grandpa got his eye put out in a blacksmith shop. It was an awful thing to happen to him, but because of this 20 yrs later, he couldn't go and fight in WWII where he may have been killed. Remember that movie, "It's a Wonderful Life", I think that is a wonderful movie and it's a reminder for me that God works in mysterious ways; His ways are not our ways.

What I do not understand is when God does not intervene on behalf of children. Every time I hear of a child being abducted and murdered I just don't understand why He allows it. All I can think of is the incredible fear and pain that child goes thru before death and that is the one time that my faith wavers. That's the one time I wonder, is Jesus even really there at all, and if He is WHY doesn't He do something....anything....give the abductor a flat tire, have the kid's mother show up right then, have a police car drive by. I don't get it. If and when I get to heaven, this would be the question I would ask God. This is the question that really bothers me.

hey marylin,

yes i do believe that god uses pain to get our attention. just about a year ago, i started letting my pride get the best of me and stopped talking to god about the things i did wrong. i stopped talking to him altogether, sure that i could make it on my own. then my mom and i started having serious serious problems with our relationship. i felt i had no one to turn to. but i still refused to speak to god. my pride came first. the whole time i felt god trying to give me a hug and whisper words of forgiveness and comfort in my ear, but i didnt want to admit that i was doing something wrong, so i ignored him even more by finding ways to not go to church. then one day, about a week ago, i finally broke down and came to him. my pride had been shredded by this hardship i was going through, so there was nothing left to stop me from talking to god again. i asked his forgiveness and i promised not to let our relationship be put on the backburner like that again. you see, god had to let my relationship with my mom get so bad to the point of, well, thats beside the point, but it got really bad, and thats what god had to do to get my attention. ive realized my mistakes and never again will i let my pride go before my relationship with god, who should always be first. i didnt understand at the time of the pain why he was doing this, but now i do and i thank him. great post, girl! :)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
