Super Jew,

If you are replying to my post, then please note that I never said God doen't allow things to happen. I said He doesn't cause things to happen to His children.

Big difference.

I see. So you admit that God uses pain and allows it, but doesn't cause it. That makes more sense.

You trying to manipulate me.I do not admit God uses pain at all. Pain is a state of being, a condition of the physical. mental or spiritual circumstances of one's life. God does not cause or take of advantage of it. It has nothing to do with God whatsoever, but the fervent, effectual prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Ja.5:16. So if you are in strife of any sort, pray about it, but don't blame God for it, And please dont try pulling my chain, because it won't work.

Jesus is awesome! I love Him! Just wanted to share that! No matter what happens in our lives Jesus is the one constant. Always there, always listening, in spite of hard times and bitter pain... We should keep our focus always on HIM! :il:

Excuse me, but maybe you haven't read the book of Job...the story of Joseph...the book of Hosea....or read about Paul? Oh..and let's not forget Christ Himself...

Also, what about the scriptures that refer to God being glorified in our suffering? For instance: I Peter 4:19, James 1:2-4, Phil. 3:10. And how do you explain Paul? Job? How do you explaing Psalm 23? Isaiah 43:1-4? Throughout the Bible God promises He will BE WITH us THROUGH hard times.Through the fire, through the storm, through the pain ..... not that He will remove all of it, but that He will be there WITH US THROUGH IT. I think He wants us to find comfort in knowing He's there...not in hoping He'll take all the trials away.

Do you think God has ever used pain and suffering to get your attention? If so, what was He trying to get across to you?

I think God used my mothers death to get my dad's attention. He was not a believer before she died, but since her death he has been going through her books and different notes and has come to realize that God is very real. He is even started to read the Bible and pray on his own now. My dad is convinced that an angel touched his hand on the night of my mother's funeral, to comfort him in his grief. And who are we to say it didn't happen, he felt so comforted by the touch it still brings tears to his eyes when he talks about it. So yes I do believe God will use whatever it takes to get our attention.

Jesus is the great healer

Does God Use Pain?

YES! It is during our hardships, troubles, illness etc., that we lean on God... It allows Him the opportunity to test, teach, love, provide us with peace and comfort. Does He cause thes things? NO, but He does allow them to occur for His purpose... Which I believe is to always to bring us closer to Him, at least this is what I have experienced in my life.

I am reminded of that story "The Blessing of Thorns" Click Here to Read

I'll spare you all the posting of the whole story but will share three paragraphs...

"I learned to be thankful for thorns," answered the clerk quietly. "I've always thanked God for the good things in my life and never questioned the good things that happened to me, but when bad stuff hit, did I ever ask questions! It took time for me to learn that dark times are important. I have always enjoyed the 'flowers' of life, but it took thorns to show me the beauty of God's comfort. You know, the Bible says that God comforts us when we're afflicted, and from His consolation we learn to comfort others."

"Well," the clerk replied carefully, "my experience has shown me that thorns make roses more precious. We treasure God's providential care more during trouble than at any other time. Remember, it was a crown of thorns that Jesus wore so we might know His love. Don't resent the thorns."

"My God, I have never thanked You for my thorns. I have thanked You a thousand times for my roses, but never once for my thorns. Teach me the glory of the difficulties I bear; teach me the value of my thorns. Show me that I have drawn closer to You along the path of pain. Show me that, through my tears, the colors of Your rainbow look much more brilliant."

Manipulate you? I'm simply using scripture. Please, do not try to judge my motives in my posting. I am simply conveying my thoughts on the scripture. We know from job, paul, James 1, etc that God allows pain and then uses the circumstance for His own glory.

Simmer down Tess,

God did not cause Job's Pain, satan did under God's supervision, Not for Job's benefit and not for satan's benefit, but for His own benefit, so that He may be glorified. Did God throw Joseph down the well, did God sell Joseph to the slave dealers, or do Joesph any other sort of mischief? God may have allowed it to happen, but he sure never caused all the things that befell Joseph? And who got the glory in the long run. Not once does it say that God used Joseph's misfortune as punishment. Not once does it say in that story that God withdrew His blessing from Joseph. On the contrary if Joseph had't have been under God's blessing, he would never had got out of Potipha's jail. Well of course we all know what hardships Paul had to suffer, but was that for Paul's sake, because Paul deserved it? What about the christians in Sudan that are being slaughtered as we type and read, is God punishing them for something? Is there something to learn here? are you telling me that God is allowing this to happen to the Sudanese so that the pain they are enduring will teach them some kind of lesson? Are you another one that is trying to tell me that God uses pain to get some sort of message across? Now God may allow us to have pain, but you nor anyone esle can tell me He causes it or uses it.

Marilyn asked.

Do you think God has ever used pain and suffering to get your attention? If so, what was He trying to get across to you?

My own opinion. Why would God inflict pain to get your attention, when it's the job of the Holy Spirit to convict you. If you step out of line He doesn't cause pain, He just withdraws his blessing from you until you come to your senses.

And if I think someome is trying to take a rise out of me, then I'll tell them so. Seems to me there's a lot of people who don't know the true nature of our Father.

cheers.

True nature of the Father? Again, no one is asserting that God causes pain. That is against His nature. God does allow pain for many reasons. God can and will allow pain to cause us to turn to Him. Sometimes God will allow someone close to us to leave us knowing it iwll cause us pain. Yet He still gets glory out of it in that we turn to Him.

God does allow pain with the ultimate goal being that He gets glory out of it...yet this isn't to say we won't be humbled in the process...

Also, I wasn't trying to get a rise out of you. I thought we were agreeing and I was stating it to see if we did...

I think God should let us know how he wants us to handle the situations that cause pain to us.

Sometimes we do not understand the point he is making and we are trying so hard to do what is right. :x:

Sometimes we need his help because the wait is too long, we have been very patient and want him to let us know that we are doing what he wants.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
