"lemon" smear campaign?

They are throwing sour fruit?

Yes... standard operating procedure for pre-election, don't you think?

Oh..i thought you meant a particular type of slander.

I think the coalition are trying to keep Ruddy from hiding in the shadows.

Would Gillard, and some policy changes, be a better option for labour right now in view to salvaging this election?

Throw Ruddy to the lions?

Australia is not ready for a female PM, it won't happen. And besides, we know little of Gillard. She is a mystery. She doesn't relate well to the majority of Australians.

She is a working woman with no children, and seems a bit aloof from the challenges every day people face. She also comes across as very smug, which I hate.

She wouldn't get my vote.

Wow, Australian elections sound exciting. So who do you think the best candidate is, andy, and who is going to win? And WHAT is 'double dissolution'?

There is no winners and 22 million losers out of this election. Unfortunately.

I think the Liberal party has the better candidate out of the two major parties (the other being Labor) and it always boils down to a two horse race anyway.

The Liberals (which are conservative, not liberal!) have a coalition with the National party which should see them over the line.

We should see Tony Abbott (affectionately known as Captn Catholic), the leader of the Liberal party, elected as Prime Minister this election.

Kevin Rudd (current PM and leader of the Labor party) has to face his party tomorrow where they will vote to either turf him or keep him on as leader (and the choice is between him, and his deputy Julie Gillard).

We have two levels in government, the house of reps and the senate. When it becomes impossible to pass a bill through the lower house and senate, the PM may call a double dissolution election to break the deadlock.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_dissolution

The most famous case of the double dissolution is in 1975 with Gough Whitlam

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gough_Whitlam

from which the famous cry of "God save the Queen... because no one can save the Governor General" came.

None of the families I know can make any form of connection with Gillard.

I just think Gillard is their current choice, not because of ability, but because of Rudd's toxicity. No one wants Rudd anywhere, a bit like nuclear waste :noidea: .

This is nutty... if she pulls this off...

this will be the first time a party has ever successfully ousted the PM from his throne, and

first ever female PM (although, non-elect)

Someone pointed out today that we have now had 4 female premiers and a current female Governor General.

So if Gillard gets in, we have a trifecta... female premier, female PM, female GG.

Someone quipped that if she gets elected, she will be the first woman to move into the Loge, and she is moving in with her boyfriend. Living in sin, in the lodge :noidea: .

This is just so bizarre I'm having trouble recovering from the shock.

Lord, please speak to our hearts and reveal the person who You would have us support. Please allow us to see through the media spin and hype to see things as they actually are. We pray for wisdom and discernment. Please move through this election, and may Your will be done on earth here in Australia. Amen.

Amen.

The present government has broken yet another promise by using public moneys to advertise the positives of the new mining tax. This same government lambasted the Howard regime for using public moneys to promote "work choices" prior to the last election.Shame shame shame.(apologies Derryn).

At the moment the DLP is my preferred senate party ticket but no sure yet how I will vote in Fadden. It will not be for one of the two party preferred if at all possible.

You mean that there is governmental problems in Australia too, and I thought the USA only had problems with government. Fellow Americans we are not alone.

My friends in Australia, I don't know when your elections are but I pray everything works out for you.

Most Australian Liberal Senators know that the best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with their own leader, Tony Abbot.

I'm sick of the election campaigns already.

Labor has made this an issue from the start.I don't know why, but in the lead up to the election there was a plethora of articles on this topic, and now we see that they are pushing something that is usually not an election campaign topic, into the spotlight. Makes me wonder why? I think it is because they know that while most people in Aus don't actually support it, it makes Tony Abbott look ugly when he speaks out against it.

I suspect this was not an attempt to get votes directly, but to portray Abbott as the "Mad Monk" woman hating conservative. Being labelled conservative in the context of equality like this, is very unpopular. :noidea:

Enjoy! Whatever you get, it is going to be a politician. Sort of like any election anywhere, a lose, lose situation :24:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
