Jesus had to be" anointed " according to Dan 9:24-27,and was done so at His baptism. This was done to fulfill Daniels prophecy. This was the start of His ministry or priesthood on earth. As you may Know, a man had to be 30 yrs old to become a priest in the temple and as our High Priest He was "fulfilling all righteousness". The fullness of time had come (463 yrs...7-sevens and 62-sevens). the next 7yrs represent the time that Christ confirms THE covenant with His people the Jews. In the middle of this 7yrs, Christ is sacrificed thus ending the need for the sacrificial system(He shall cause the sacrifice to end). The gospel and covenant was continued through mainly the Jewish nation until the final rejection of the gospel mission by the Jewish leaders as they stoned Steven 3 1/2 years after the death of Christ....thus ending the 490 yr prophecy of Daniel. The gospel mission was then opened up to the gentiles as Paul was soon afterward converted.

Dan9: 24 "Seventy 'sevens' [a] are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy. [c]

25 "Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree [d] to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, [e] the ruler, comes, there will be seven 'sevens,' and sixty-two 'sevens.'

Hi Bob,

The problem I see with your view, is that you say Messiah was annointed after 69 weeks at His baptism, but according to Scripture, He was cut off (crucified) after 69 weeks.

Daniel 9:26-27

And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Where in the Scriptures does Christ make a seven year covenant with many? I don't see how His baptism would be considered a seven year covenant, with Him being cut off in the middle of it. Wouldn't it make more sense, though, if there was such a covenant, that it would start at the cross instead, where He died for the sins of the world? But we can't see a seven year covenant beginning there either.

Zeph 3:13 has more to do with Dan 9:24 than all you have listed. For Zeph 3:13 says - The remnant of Israel will do no wrong, they will speak no lies, nor will deceit be found in their mouths.

So in essence they have; Finished transgression and Put an end to sin. These are two of the six tasks. So yes these are for Israel and Jerusalem.

You are using replacement theology. For Dani 9:24 is ALL about Israel and Jerusalem; AND no one else. The Seventy sevens are all about them. To put Christ in their place, IS replacement theology.

BTW, the "prince to come" or the "ruler to come" was Titus; and his people did destroy the city and sanctuary.

BTW, Christ did not put an end to sacrifice and offering. If one is to tithe his first fruits of money or anything else, (bring it into the storehouse) one is putting his trust in God. God will not only bless the first fruits, but He will also bless the rest. Which end do we trust God with; the First Fruits or the Last Fruits. This is offering, we do it on a regular basis.

You're right (and wrong); Yeshua` haMashiach did not put an end to all sacrifice and offering; some sacrifices and offerings are simply made in thanksgiving. He put an end to burnt offerings and sacrifices to make atonement for sin! There were many types of sacrifices and for a multitude of reasons. But, Yeshua` fulfilled the NEED FOR MAKING ATONEMENT - WHICH completed the second and third tasks of Dani'el 9:24! In THOSE, He finished "the sacrifice and the oblation," ending them from God's perspective! Any additional killing of animals for that reason was futile; it was just so much slaughtering of animals.

The book of Hebrews, whether written by Paul (traditional belief), Apollos (Martin Luther), Barnabas (Tertullian), Priscilla (Adolf Harnack and J. Rendel Harris) or Philip (William Ramsey), was most likely written BEFORE the destruction of the Temple in A.D. 70 (Heb. 10:11; 13:10, 11). The author of Hebrews said,

Hebrews 10:11-22

11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. (a reference to Psalm 110:1)

14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,

16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. (a quote from Jeremiah 31:33-34)

18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh (a reference to Matthew 27:50-53 when the veil was torn);

21 And having an high priest over the house of God;

22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water (in the mikvah, the Jewish baptism - a cleansing ritual before sacrifices were made).

KJV

I'm okay with "the prince that shall come" being Titus in 66-70 A.D. and you're right that "his people did destroy the city and sanctuary." I agree! Therefore, this person is NOT an "Antichrist" of the future!

Ts'fanyahu's prophecy is certainly entailed in all this; however, which came first the chicken or the egg? Many people try to do good deeds to IMPRESS God as though to MAKE Him accept them. That is a fool's mission! The Scriptures show time and time again that is "putting the cart before the horse!" One must first ask God to forgive him or her and be merciful to him or her, recognizing himself or herself as a sinner. Once God chooses to accept one on his or her faith in His ability and His love for him or her, to justify him or her, ONLY THEN can he or she do good deeds in the power of the Ruach haQodesh (the HS) out of thanksgiving and love for God! Thus, when one has NOT been "born again," no amount of good deeds will do; after one HAS been "born again," no amount of good deeds are enough to say "thank you!" However, we do not do good deeds to gain acceptance by God; that won't work. God accepts us unconditionally for the Messiah's sake, we are "accepted in the Beloved" (Eph. 1:6), and we do good deeds AFTER the fact because we love Him and want to thank Him. God does not have a performance-based standard for us; He totally accepts us unconditionally as His own children! Some people don't know what that means because their own father or mother may have unwisely had a performance-based standard for them, but God doesn't. God doesn't keep score!

The phrase "none shall make them afraid" is found four times in the KJV: While the first one, Isaiah 17:2, is in the context of a prophecy against Damassek or Damascus referring to sheep pasturing carefreely where "the cities of Aroer" once were when Damascus one day becomes a "ruinous heap,"; the others, Ezekiel 34:28; Micah 4:4; and Zeph. 3:13, all speak of Isra'el being where "none shall make them afraid." Let's look at them all in their contexts:

Ezekiel 34:16-31

16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.

17 And as for you, O my flock, thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I judge between cattle and cattle, between the rams and the he goats.

18 Seemeth it a small thing unto you to have eaten up the good pasture, but ye must tread down with your feet the residue of your pastures? and to have drunk of the deep waters, but ye must foul the residue with your feet?

19 And as for my flock, they eat that which ye have trodden with your feet; and they drink that which ye have fouled with your feet.

20 Therefore thus saith the Lord God unto them; Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat cattle and between the lean cattle.

21 Because ye have thrust with side and with shoulder, and pushed all the diseased with your horns, till ye have scattered them abroad;

22 Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle.

23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.

24 And I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the Lord have spoken it.

25 And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.

26 And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.

27 And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the Lord, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them.

28 And they shall no more be a prey to the heathen, neither shall the beast of the land devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none shall make them afraid.

29 And I will raise up for them a plant of renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.

30 Thus shall they know that I the Lord their God am with them, and that they, even the house of Israel, are my people, saith the Lord God.

31 And ye my flock, the flock of my pasture, are men, and I am your God, saith the Lord God.

KJV

Micah 4:1-5

1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.

2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the Lord of hosts hath spoken it.

5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the Lord our God for ever and ever.

KJV

Zephaniah 3:1-20

1 Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city!

2 She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the Lord; she drew not near to her God.

3 Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow.

4 Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.

5 The just Lord is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.

6 I have cut off the nations: their towers are desolate; I made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.

7 I said, Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off, howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.

8 Therefore wait ye upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey: for my determination is to gather the nations, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them mine indignation, even all my fierce anger: for all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy.

9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent.

10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering.

11 In that day shalt thou not be ashamed for all thy doings, wherein thou hast transgressed against me: for then I will take away out of the midst of thee them that rejoice in thy pride, and thou shalt no more be haughty because of my holy mountain.

12 I will also leave in the midst of thee an afflicted and poor people, and they shall trust in the name of the Lord.

13 The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.

14 Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

15 The Lord hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the Lord, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more.

16 In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not: and to Zion, Let not thine hands be slack.

17 The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

18 I will gather them that are sorrowful for the solemn assembly, who are of thee, to whom the reproach of it was a burden.

19 Behold, at that time I will undo all that afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.

20 At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the Lord.

KJV

In all three of these cases, it is abundantly clear to me that they occur AFTER the Messiah has returned and Isra'el is safely within the Messiah's Kingdom. Thus, these occur AFTER the seventy Sevens have been completely fulfilled!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
