Not familiar with the term, Bob...

Maybe I can help answer your question Steve. A spirit filled church is a church that follows the leading of the Holy Spirit. They believe and practice the gifts of the Holy Spirit. There is life, unity, fire and excitement. A spirit filled church allows it's members to worship God, however they feel led and in my experience are more involved in winning souls than a dead church. A Spirit filled church is a joyful place to be.

I hope this answers your question because I think that the purpose of this post was not to discuss what a Spirit filled church is, but to help a fellow sister find what she is looking for!

God Bless!

Debbie ;)

Boy do I need a church like this! Lord help me!

Now Sister, you know you are only two hours away from my church. Do you want it bad enough? Hmmmmm? -_-

Yup ;)

Seriously...Let's see, I spend two hours a day getting to work and back, that's 10 hours. Add four more to go to church on Sunday and then four to go to cell during the week...that's...(let's see that Foley education at work)...18 hours a week in a car, on the interstate, on a car that already has 126,000 miles. Hmmm. What would you do? ;)-_-

I have to agree- And you know my restrictions- work. God knows the desires of our hearts- He'll find a way out!

And if not, we'll just have our own little Bible study during church again :x: It's hard to attend a church that doesn't have the same doctrines as you :t2: --- not to mention the music being very boring :x: ;)

Hi Heidi. I didn't catch what area you are in, but here is a link to Calvary Chapel churches, you can click on the map to find one in your area. I LOVE Them. They are spirit-filled, and basically non-denom. I haven't been to one yet I didn't like!

You can check them out here

I recently moved to a very small town, and haven't been able to find a Spirit filled church.

When my wife and I moved to a new city a couple of years ago, the first thing we looked at was whether there was a church of our fellowship in the area. One that shared our beliefs, and our values. Fortunately, there was. But if not, I wond never have moved here. :t2:

Its almost impossible to find a real church that abides by the principles as dictated in the New Testiment. There are no real Apostles that I know of, and most of those bold enough to proclaim themselves to be prophets or gifted propheticaly are false!

The churches are instead dominated by Pastors, and ingnore the giftings, and workings, of the true church, unless they can be head over it! Or the pastor may claim to have all the gifts to bypass any need for the others! Or a self proclaimed Prophet may try to take the reigns!

But most commonly it's just a dead church controled by a pastor, or a board, using reasoning instead of gifts, and a fancy church, with a great chior!

We have tried many, upon many, until the Lord called us out to small fellowships.

Even if you do allow a pastor to userp all the workings and gifts, a pastor can only pastor say fifty people at most, thats why the first churches were always house churches. Pastors are to intimately know each sheep, some of the larger ministers have over a year waiting list to see their pastor!

When the house was too small ,and or, there were to many sheep for the pastor to really keep up with, the new church started up! Thats how you got training in your gifts was in the old church, bringing you quickly into your gifted area. You see the main purpose after salvation was to mature the saints so that they could minister in the body; you did not go to school for it, thats an abomination! The elders in the church would lay hands on the converts and true gifts, and ministries, would come forth. After a year or so the whole congregation would be trained up and the more essential gifts would more on to start up a new church. An apostle would usually gather some elders, one gifted in the prophetic, a pastor ect., and oversee the new church for a short time. You can't go to school to become gifted in anything; though a gifted person might believe he has to go to school to make more money by having human credentials!

So to answer the question one must find true servants, start a small fellowship, discover your true gifts, and pray that the Lord leads enough together to operate as the true church! Even two or three gathered together in His name is better than a church opperating out of order, or with false gifts (holy laughter and such), or a dead church, which is a bussiness!

There is a ministry called Media Spotlight, by Al Dager; which is trying to get house churches started across the nation. You can find him on the web. under Media Spotlight, he will find true seekers places to fellowship in their area!

1- There are no real Apostles that I know of

2- Even if you do allow a pastor to userp all the workings and gifts, a pastor can only pastor say fifty people at most

3- some of the larger ministers have over a year waiting list to see their pastor!

4- You see the main purpose after salvation was to mature the saints so that they could minister in the body

5- The elders in the church would lay hands on the converts and true gifts, and ministries, would come forth.

1- Nope. They're gone.

2- Romans 15:14

I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, complete in knowledge and competent to instruct one another.

Hebrews 5:12

In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over again.

Why should the work of the ministry belong only to the pastor? Is there no one else around to share the load?

3- I guess no one ever told me the "rules". Whenever I want to meet a pastor, I just go and meet him.

4- Yup.

5- Is that in the Bible somewhere?

2Tim:1:6

Wherefore I put thee in rememberance, that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

James:5:14, Speaks as to call the elders to pray, for one who is sick, and annointing with oil. But it is clear the elders were the ones people came to for the laying on of hands for gifts and prayer, Paul was also an elder and appointed elders in each city.

An elder was one greatly matured in the faith and gifts, and able to direct and dispense the will of God to the brethern.

It is obvious today that if the people were matured in the word and gifts, they could no longer sit in a church that appealed every week to just the basic salvation message. The basic message is what should be taught in the streets, or a side room in the house , so that the main group can always grow EACH DAY to maturity, not just on sundays or saturdays.

It woud be a threat to the pastors authority, if the people actually recieved their true spiritual gifts, and began true ministry, and grew beyond the pastors power, through maturity in the Holy Spirit!

If you keep the people babies in the faith they become dependent on the pastor for everything, this is where their empires are built! If you want to see a man controlling the sheep, instead of true spirit controlled people, and propheting by it, look at the empires they build! I tell you these are unholy empires! The true way is hard, and isn't always pleasent, with tribulation, because the devil and the world really oppose the true ones! Be careful if the world says good things about you, if the world hated Me, it will also hate you, narrow is the way and few find it. A true christian can be known by their fruit , but also they suffer persecution, and tribulation by the world, the devil, and false christians! Many are called and few are chosen, you may say I believe, the devils also believe and tremble, but they do not DO, His will!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
