In the submission thread I started, many people argued with me that a wife's submission is right and holy because the Bible is the unerring Word of God and is ALWAYS flawless, so we must follow it's commands.

KJV of the Bible says (diff translation in my Catholic one) - "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."

(Exodus 22:18)

"And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire." (Leviticus 21:9) - means imposing death penalty explicitly by the way, not condemnation to eternal torment. Judah was going to burn to death Tamar in chapter 38 of Genesis for this reason.

And so forth. So why don't you guys who follow the letter of the Bible as infallible follow these?

georgia, on the surface it can very definitely appear confusing. however, the Bible often lays down laws for different groups of individuals. for instance, the daughter of a priest... the law on that does not apply to the general public. it was also part of mosaic law, given to the jews at a specific point in history, and which Christ fulfilled the penalties of. mosaic law did not allow for the eating of unclean meat, required sacrificial offerings, etc. yet Christ, during His ministry, specifically addressed those laws as no longer being required, because He himself had fulfilled them.

other biblical commands and laws are universal in nature. witchcraft is forbidden both in mosaic law and later, as is homosexuality and adultry, murder and thievery, etc.

hope that helps.

Exodus 21:17

"Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.

Exodus 21:15 "Anyone who attacks [3] his father or his mother must be put to death.

Exodus 22:19 "Anyone who has sexual relations with an animal must be put to death.

Exodus 31:15 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD . Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.

Leviticus 20:11 If a man sleeps with his father's wife, he has dishonored his father. Both the man and the woman must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Leviticus 20:12

" 'If a man sleeps with his daughter-in-law, both of them must be put to death. What they have done is a perversion; their blood will be on their own heads.

Leviticus 20:13

" 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Leviticus 24:16

anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD must be put to death. The entire assembly must stone him. Whether an alien or native-born, when he blasphemes the Name, he must be put to death.

Should we kill Our kids?

Should you kill your kids if they start a fist fight with you?

Should we kill people who have sex with animals? (sick)

Should we kill thoughs who go to work on the sabbath?

Should we kill adulators?

Should we kill all gays?

Should we kill all who blasphemes God's name?

i can go on...

We would have a very small world if we killed each other becuase of these reasons, thats why im so glad to be living under grace!

TRINITY

Thats an interesting observation :

I have 2 points :sweating:

1. We are no longer under the old Law - the Law of the Old Testament -so those requirments do not apply to us who are now under the NEW COVENANT.

(There are a number of Scriptures particularly in Romans) ;)

2. The whole discussion of women's submission is often a one sided one, I agree, that the patriarchal system uses to maintain power and control.

Paul actually talks about MUTUAL SUBMISSION. ;)

Those advocating for the submission of women often forget the part that 'husbands are to love their wives as Christ loved the Church giving His life for Her...'

That's a pretty high demand placed on husband, wouldn't you say?

In Galatians Paul makes it even clearer:

"There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female - for you are all one in Christ." Gal 3:28 :D

3. THREE POINTS ACTUALLY, TRINITY

The other being that although you raise provoking questions, you are comparing apples and oranges - so to speak, in myopinion.

The craft of witchcraft is an abonimation to the Lord God who established Himself as the ONE TRUE GOD , especially for Israel and in this day to us HIS Church.

Submission to one another within the Church and within Christian relationships is a matter of discerning the Spirit of God for that particular context. It does not pertain to the sin of witchcraft in that sense :D

*************************************************

This is a rushed response

Others will differ form my perspective- to be sure

Thats what these discussions are all about anyway

Blessings -sachi

The bible is given to us as His word. Georgiabluesgirl, do you not believe that the bible is the word of God?

Thanks for pointing out the patriarchal point, no one ever agrees with me on that. Mutual submission makes more sense.

I DO believe the Bible is the Word of God - interpreted through the lens of mankind thousands of years ago. I DON'T believe it was dictation, although it is Most Holy and Inspired. We have to recognize that the Bible, the Word, was written in the words of men by men. That's why women are treated not so well in many places: it was the time period. God doesn't discriminate - after all, the Lord has not definite gender, God is above that...people do tend to freak if I say She instead of He though, so I've kept that to a minimum here...usually I use both.

4 Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, 5 but any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled dishonors her head -- it is the same as if her head were shaven. 6 For if a woman will not veil herself, then she should cut off her hair; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her wear a veil. 1 Cor 11:4-6

I agree...I don't know ANYONE who takes this 'literally'...

That was the old testament.

We now have the power to deal

with the spirit who works through

her without harming her.

The urging of mutual submission is slightly off base. In love and respect, yes, it is mutual, but it is clear that God has designated the husband as head of the household. It is clear that God has designated man to run the affair of the church. Man is not to use this to keep women down or any such nonsense. That is an abuse of God's designation.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
