The true atheist is NOT out there attacking Christianity; they don't believe in God, so they DON'T CARE about it. The subject is boring and nonsensical to a true atheist. It is only the pretended atheist--a true God hater--who bothers to attack Christianity.

Why Do atheists Attack Christianity? sure there are peaceful atheist out there but most of them seem to want to try soooooooooooo hard into disproving God like if if there where right the would gain something out of crushing someone else's faith??????? when Christians try to turn someone to God it is out of love rather then hate when MOST atheist try to disprove God it seems they do it to get joy... thats just sad and sorry not to mention why dont the go after other religions as well such as wiccan, jewish, buddhism, hinduism and so on.... even on this board alone there are alot of atheist... why whats the point? if they dont believe in God why not just go on living their life? whats the point in joining a board to try and crush someone's faith?

im sure i will get jumped on for asking this but i truthfully want to know.

I have asked the question many times....why do atheists come to Christian sites, such as this one, and argue endlessly against the existence of God? After all, they don't believe in Him. No atheist has ever given me a logical answer. IMO, they are driven to do this even if they don't understand why. They are puppets of the enemy and, subconsciously KNOW that God exists. Many of them come here to 'debate' and when they realize they'll never get anywhere, they become nasty and hateful. Some pretend to be seekers or even Christians (as if everyone doesn't see through such deceptions!) and attempt to influence believers through a more benign form of attack (note the never ending threads on evolution and the idea that man is just another animal and the universe a random accident). This is a futile exercise as well. They simply must do this before their time runs out.

I doubt if anyone is going to jump on you for telling the truth, Autumn. Btw, the reason they don't attack other 'religions' is because their master isn't concerned about those, he knows they're irrelevant. They will tell you they attack all faiths; it's a lie. For the most part, ALL of their energies are directed at Christianity.

Because Of Jesus

Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Psalms 2:1-7

This would be the case if Christianity would not try influence policy, and therefore also the lives

of atheists.

I make an example. I go sometimes in Italy where I know some very virulent atheists. They tell me,

that if the Pope or the Church would not try to impose them their moral laws, then they would not

care less about Christianity. I am fortunate to live in a country where assisted suicide is legal, but

in Italy you are not allowed to end your life even if you suffer terribly for many years and have no

hope whatsoever. And this is because of Christian teaching of the Catholic church. This is exactly

what drives atheists to pick up a fight and I understand them. I subscribe to D-9 answer.

Now you understand my own discontent when I see public schools teaching atheistic based theories such as Evolution as fact (not proven yet) and other opinions...but I have to sit there and take it because at present it is part of the Australian education curriculum.

With regard to Western law and policies, sure some stick in your throat but on the whole I guess you enjoy a society that forbids stealing others property, condemns murder etc...all commandments straight out of the OT....remember, these laws are not Anglo Saxon originate but Semetic...from Ancient Hebrew....Thank God literally that theses commandments were given to Moses to hand to the people of Israel to then find it's way to a society you happen to be born into. If it wasn't for Chrisitianity spreading around the globe, you wouldn't enjoy these laws that protect you.

Also your country the Superpower of the Western world has had a motto of "In God We Trust"..in my thinking, that is one heck of a Christian admission to other countries it makes me think that no wonder America has been blessed with all the good things that have come its way over the hundreds of years....this is no co-incidence you know.... ( I am assuming you are American...)

There are 2 kinds of anti-Christians. Those who believe in God and reject Him anyway (what are they thinking !!), and those who do not believe in God or a hell and satan. But whether they believe in satan or not, they are both children of his. And it is their duty, whether they realize it or not, to kill and hurt God's children.

I find it intellectually stimulating to discuss such questions, which I have been interested in since college where I learned a little about the philosophy of religion. Is that not a logical answer?

As to why atheists 'attack' Christianity, I think it is helpful to distinguish between, for example, attacking a person's personal faith in God, and attacking Christianity in the political sphere. There are very good reasons why atheists attack the latter since it affects them directly. As to the former, I would never question a person's private faith in God unless they were open to the conversation, I think it would just be rude otherwise.

Anglo Saxon societies forbade murder and theft. In fact, I cannot think of a single society, ancient or modern which has not done so.

In any case, most secularists, whether reigious or atheist, would prefer to see a society where the state enforces rules to which all reasonable people could agree. It's not reasonable to expect that a person consents to a law which is justified only if one accepts the veracity of a particular religious text. There are good reasons which will convince any reasonable atheist as to why a society should outlaw theft or murder. Not so when it comes to other issues, like keeping holy a sabbath day, not eating pork, or criminalisation of homosexual acts, etc.

I hear you tommy - what do you make of ancient Roman society where peadophilia was rampant and acceptable especially amongst the wealthy and prestigious members of its community? And what do you make of cannibalism which has roots in many cultures including the Anglo Saxons?

Eating pork and keeping the Sabbath - are you suggesting Christians try to make folk observe these OT laws? I eat pork and I don't keep Sabbath according to OT laws - does that make me a pseudo Christian?

I think it's not a good idea to base the laws of today on the laws of the past regardless of what culture we're talking about. Just because something was done in the past does not mean it's a good idea to do it now- as you show with your example of cannibalism.

Some of the laws which have been observed across many cultures are good ones and we should definitely keep them, but others are not and should not be preserved. What we need is a way to figure out which are which. I think any reasonable number of people can get together, be they Christians, Jews, Atheists, Hindus, etc., and come up with laws that everyone can agree to abide by.

There are other laws which are given by God according to some people's beliefs (like not eating pork if you are Jewish or Muslim) which I don't think should be the law for everybody else. This is because eating pork only makes sense as being immoral if you believe that God thinks it's wrong to eat pork. Since not everyone does believe this, and since it's not right to force religious beliefs on people if they're not harming you, it would be unfair for a Jewish majority, for example, to pass laws making it illegal for anyone to eat pork.

It *is* fair to force people not to kill or steal, however, since this is objectively harmful behaviour regardless of what you believe.

I am not sure if all Jewish folk abstain from eating pork..

And I think you are missing the point when it comes to cannibalism etc - a society didn't just wake up one day and decide that eating other human beings was bad - no - it flowed on after Chrisitanity was introduced to that society and the people were now "enlightened" ....this is most definitely the case in New Guinea where cannibalism was still rife in the 20th Century. (we now know today that cannibalism gives the same symptoms as the Mad Cow" disease which hit GB and Europe not too long ago)..

On the whole, the US is considered a "Christian country" that sits on a Christian foundation stemming from the Hebrew Bible.

How do you feel about the fact that your founding fathers brought Christianity to the Americas and built your country on that particular foundation rather than say certain American Indian religious views or Hinduism? I wonder how the US would look today if it was founded on atheisitic belief system. Vastly different? Not much different?

Do you think Christianity has helped the US become the great nation that it is? Because there is no doubt that the US has been the leading Western country for many many years... anyone from any religious background can see that.

The problem is that some practices are forbidden by certain religions that people not a part of that religion believe should be accepted and legal practice. Do you force them to accept this practice?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
