Did God give every Christian their own guardian angel?

Daniel 9: 20-23

20 While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my request to the LORD my God for his holy hill— 21 while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice. 22 He instructed me and said to me, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. 23 As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. 2 Kings 6:15-17

15 When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere. "Oh, sir, what will we do now?" the young man cried to Elisha. 16"Don't be afraid!" Elisha told him. "For there are more on our side than on theirs!" 17 Then Elisha prayed, "O LORD, open his eyes and let him see!" The LORD opened the young man's eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.

Their purpose is to encourage us and give us strength. They are not the focus of our spiritual growth with God but they help as God sees fit to send them. For some people he hides them and makes not their presence know to them, to others he opens their eyes.

I dont know if the one I have is the same person.. but I've seen him/her on several different occasions where I had high stress. So yes I believe I have a personal one.. but who knows if they have different shifts and there are several..

Do you mind sharing when you seen these angels? My grandmother seen an angel ones in her bedroom

One time I was really stressed out at work and was waiting in my managers office because he stepped out for a minute. I was praying really intensly for God to help me and immediately I saw an angel standing beside me. I was filled with peace and calm then because I took that as God had heard my prayer and he was answering it. Just then my manager walked back in but before he saw the angel it disappeared.

Another time I saw one in my room after a major break up with an old girlfriend. I was praying for God to save her and to forgive her for what she did again same thing, intense prayer very sharp focus on my message then an angel appeared in front of me. And again I believed my message was heard and I was really happy! That time though I was in my room with the lights off and when the angel came it came from behind me to appear in front of me. It made me jump because the light was so bright I thought that a car was behind me! (My room was on the second floor)... it looked like a man full of light and very bright.

Another time, I came home from church when I told the minister that I wanted to be baptized. As I opened the door and walked it, I saw an angel looking at me through the corner as if to greet me, he was smiling at me with beautiful pearly whites. And then left.

And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 2 Kings 6:15-17

Again I have... it was my first encounter with an angel. As I was walking home from work one day about 5 years ago I realized that about 200 meters away a man was hiding behind a bush looking at me. As I continued walking I suddenly realized he had a gun. I stopped and considered carefully where I should go as I was still looking at him. He looked like he had the intent to kill me. And I looked with my eyes to the left and right to which way I can bolt to. As I was considering all of this, I heard an angel speak to me. He said: "Don't not fear. God does not wish for you to die today." ...I was filled with so much joy when I heard that, it was the most beautiful voice I had ever heard. It was nothing like what you would hear on earth! Yet I was still full of fear. So the angel spoke again he said: "If you run away he will shoot you". So trusting in him I walked in faith in the direction I was walking towards home. And as I reached about 25 meters from him to my amazement the man who was behind the bush ran away to his getaway car and left! It was so amazing and it didn't make sense! He ran away!

I'n just talking with my daughter about guardian angels and as far as I know God gives every Christian their own guardian angel?

There is no teaching in Scripture that we each have guardian angels. There are instances where God has dispatched angels to help or protect people, but that is not the same as believing that we each have a guardian angel.

I believe that is a secular fairy tale meant to draw us away from trusting in the Lord. He is our guide, our shepherd. He is the one who watches over us and He is with us and dwelling within us. Why would we need an angel to guard us when we are hooked up with the Creator of the universe, the one who made us?

The notion of Guardian angels causes people to spiritually insecure and to attempt draw from an angel, the security and assurance that only comes from Christ. There are books that tell of people encounterng angels and having been transformed by those encounters. My contetion is that they did not encounter any angels from God. Angels are messengers sent from God. They are not emotionally involved in the lives of people.

Thank you, I do put my trust in the Lord and didn't really think alot of angels that's why this question came up, but its sure nice they are around If I'm right they are here to protect us , don't they also fight in spirituel warfare to fight demons if they try to get to us? (remember Lot?

The notion of guardian angels is a secular, not a biblical concept. It does not come from the Bible. It undercuts God's role as the One to whom we go in time of need.

Angels may help us from time to time, but the notion that God has assigned each of a guardian angel to look after us is rather pagan. Some may try to dress it up, but it is really chafing agasint the Lord as our protector or provider. It is a pernicious strategy of the enemy to get our focus on to angels and off of the Lord as our source of protection, provision and security.

"Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world." I have the God of the universe living in me in the Person of the Holy Spirit. There is NOTHING the enemey can do to me and no reason I need to rely on an angel.

Most likely he was allowed to see the angel.

I love hearing of things like this. it gives me hope for the future, because I can see us needing a lot of help in the next few years.
