I am grateful for this forum!! :emot-highfive:

Interestingly, here in my Canadian province, there are lots of "bibles" and various books about a so-called "Jesus": some are "the bible of crystals", the bible of angels", angel cards, oracle something-something, the "true story about Jesus", something about the grail and various so-called revelations from archangels and angels about the "missing years of Jesus".

All these items are considered cool and non-threatening. So basically, as long as you talk about Jesus in a way that is contradictory to what the Holy Bible says, you are considered cool and enlightened. But the minute, you dare to speak about Jesus as presented in the Gospels... catastrophe!! You have to be silenced.

Book stores are filled with all these items mentioned above. No Bible in sight.

:taped:

I think it speaks about who owns and runs these stores a fair bit.

I find the same thing in most libraries.

There is however, one library nearby which has a really good selection of sound books on Christian theology and different copies of the Bible. In talking to the librarians there, I've noticed quite a few believers...

First of all I want to thank God for everything He has done for me.

I feel as if I am this "oddity" completely among my co-workers and people in my career path. I feel this total disconnect between my "Christian" way of thinking and lifestyle, and my work environment and all these people in my field( atheist, feminist, humanist, "religion is patriarchy", "religion is oppression against women"etc) .

It is ok, it is all very clear and I am ok with that.

Then today, I attended a meeting with workers from other places who have known me on other projects and here comes the big joke at my expense: in the middle of the meeting, someone says "Let's hope she (talking about me) won't change religious affiliations on us again!" Everyone laughs. Clearly, every one is making a joke out of my conversion from Islam to Christ. And clearly thinking I moved from one backward stupid religion to another.

Fine.

I collected myself and didnt say anything and brought the conversation back to the topic at hand.

Of course, no one laughed when that same lady mentioned the "amber necklace" she got for her 6 month old baby in order to "balance his chakras" so that teething won't hurt. So that is NOT "backward"?

What makes people look at Jesus with such contempt?

Literally they act as if my belief in Christ means I am retarded. Yet, someone believing in some crystals and chakra balancing theory, somehow, makes them more "enlightened"?

Just venting I guess. It gets a bit aggravating at times.

It is one thing to see and hear people disregarding God in their own life choices, but it offuscates me to see them being so "close-minded" when it comes to my faith.

Let me get back to reading Psalm 146... :)

I think one of the things I see in this post is that EVERYONE is keenly aware of your acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Lord. Their eyes are obviously on you in this regard...

Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men.

(1 Peter 2:12-15)

Hi sorry for the way you are being treated! Jesus said, they will hate you because they first hated me. Just stay in prayer and fight the good fight as Paul put it. It is not religion that is opressive to women it is people who have been taught wrong in religion who are opressive to women. Jesus is no respector of persons all are created equil in his sight. Read your bible in John you will find women supported Jesus in his ministry. Be strong and stand tough Christianity is not for sissys. God Bless you! You are in my prayers

This more than anything else proves the saying - in my words - People are reading the book you are writing - a chapter each day - in the things that you do and the things that you say.

They are curious, and your change has made them uncomfortable. They may have gone to Sunday school and church and have heard all that you freely accept from the Father and Lord and they are not comfortable. The easiest way to feel comfortable with your change is to mock and make themselves look 'smarter' and more clever. The best defence is an offence. Just remember - they do not mock you - they mock the LORD.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
