Using American assets already in place in the area is the perfect way to handle this matter. The expenditures (versus large aid packages costing billions we don't have) are more or less minimal, since the assets are on-site.

Do you think the 'American assets' on site were unaffected by this horrible earthquake? They were not, they sustained damage and are having difficulty getting mobilized to help, too. They are just as affected as the other surrounding areas. It's not just the US giving aid to a valuable ally... others in the world are rushing to give assistance also.... Not just government resources, but private, charitable and other resources as well. If you are so worried about US giving billions - maybe you should consider giving to a non-governmental charity to assist. Or would you consider that unacceptable also?

America's will to give during times of trouble, (weather with money, troops or mission work, etc.), is one of the reasons our country does not suffer in abundance as many other countries does. Yes, we are in a trying time... It is the reason why lawmakers (centuries ago) has placed actions into writing for these times as our train of thought may be challenged should as today...jobs declined, gas prices, wars, countries in unrest...

Our Lord has already shared in His word, that we will always have someone or something in need, but the case is not why, but what to do when it arrives. ....A generous man will prosper, he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed..Proverb 11:25.

God Bless America!!

I agree that we should use assets in the area, I have said so in the original post. What I object to is handing out money we don't have. It HAS to stop somewhere.

Yeah, we should pull our troops out of Afghanistan so we are not wasting our money and people's lives in a military action that is doing absolutely nothing. We should cut off all money to the UN and foreign aid to any country that is not our ally. We should cut off all funding to things like Planned Parenthood and ACORN.

I am not an Obama supporter of any kind, but in this instance, I support what he chooses to do. This is one of the top 5 biggest quakes in recorded history. Lots of people are dead and there is a lot of damage. Those people need our help, plain and simple and I am 100% for giving it to them. Helping them is not only the merciful and morally-correct thing to do, it is the Christian thing to do.

That's pretty much what I was going to say so I'll just go off and organize my spices instead. :whistling:

Oregano do you put that before or after the Basil??? A puzzle that has plagued me for years....

God forbid we aide a country who's in dire need of help. Japan is one of our biggest allies, and they are a nation of kind and intelligent people. Not to help them would be irresponsible and immoral. And also, ACORN no longer exists thanks to the exaggerated hype Fox News spread around. I won't get into the Planned Parenthood situation because I've already debated with other misinformed people about it, so I'll pretty much apply the same comment I did with ACORN with that.

And yes, we should be out of Afghanistan. We should never have gone to the Middle East in the first place.

Jas 3:17

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and compliant, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

Isa 58:6

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

Isa 58:7

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? when you see the naked, that you cover him; and that you hide not yourself from your own flesh?

1Jo 3:17

But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother have need, and shuts up his heart of compassion from him, how dwells the love of God in him?

1Jo 3:18

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

1Jo 3:19

And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

Jas 1:27

Pure religion and undefiled before God the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Which man did more and was a neighbor to him who fell amongst thieves?

Lu 10:30

And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

Lu 10:31

And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

Lu 10:32

And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

Lu 10:33

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

Lu 10:34

And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

Lu 10:35

And on the next day when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the innkeeper, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever you spend more, when I come again, I will repay you.

Lu 10:36

Which now of these three, think you, was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?:noidea:

I guess it comes down to this. Are you an American first or a child of the Kingdom?

Don't get me wrong here, by all means, we should participate in rescue and recovery operations with our available assets in the area, but

That is is a strong statement of self....

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
