I dealt as a career with "sociology" - every single day. For more years than I care to count.... in and OUT of the ghetto. Racism comes in many colors, sizes and walks of life. I prefer not to label people simply because of where they live or have come from. It's out there ... and it's a conscious choice - as Fez stated in the OP - people can overcome if they choose.

The question is will they choose? If someone is reared or socialized to be a certain way, then the chances are that is how they will be. Why would a person who was reared to be a racist want to change? You say they can change. I agree. What will be the cataclyysmic event that will make them decide they want to change? Why should someone want to change if they see nothing wrong with the way they are? My major is not sociology, but I did have to take several courses in it for C.J. Admin. My good friend is a Sociology professor. He and I have had this conversation multiple times. He will quickly tell you that racism, poverty, alcoholism, etc. etc. are all heavily effected by social enviornment during childhood. I think you would be hard pressed to find an authority on Sociology that would refute what I am saying. Of course there are those who pull themselves up and better themselves, but the vast majority do not.

You can prefer to label or not label people. I do not label people as individuals, but it would take an Osterich to not recognize generalities and commonalites prevalent in certain areas and classes. What I refer to as the "ghetto" in my city has people of all races. What do they have in common? They are all poor. Due to that fact, generation to generation, the vast majority of them all remian in poverty. They do not break the cycle. They have no desire to. The women's ambition is to have 6 kids and them men's ambition is to smoke pot, drink beer, conceive the kids and abandom them. The real ambitious ones start their own meth lab or crack cook house.

I believe that there is less overt racism (white on black) here in the South as opposed to other parts of the country, because we were told, by law, that we had to desegregate. So we did. And, over the years we've just made that part of life - we work together, play together, live together. I know it's far from perfect, but I can say there has been real, tangible progress. Point being, maybe people need a well-placed smack to get them to try to get along. :noidea:

There is a store where I work that will not sell to white people. Sometimes I go in on duty and hang out just to annoy them.

I kind of find entertainment value in their stupidity.

That's just pure ignorance. :bored-1:

I grew up in a small community of well to do whites surrounded by impoverished aborigionals. I grew up hearing and repeating with zeal, hatred of the "natives" and their ways. Hearing the fact that the government gives gives gives and they just take and hate. Hearing of the abuse of the government housing by defication & ripping apart and burning of government given housing for fire wood. Seeing the result of the abuse of alcohol and at the same time receiving my very own personalized sex education at the age of 7 in the trail to the corner store where we'd buy candy... we got to see it, my friends and I. Through the blurr of their pain my pain originated and my prejudice took root.

One asked what would cause us to change the prejudice? Why bother? I'll tell you, when the Lord gives us a spirit of compassion fortunately he does not limit it to our race. I prayed for a spirit of compassion and now I see. I see the pain of this fatherless generation who's parents were taken from their parents and therefore have no clue how to parent. I see the pain of this fatherless generation who dull their pain and sences with whatever they can get their hands on. I see the pain reflected in the faces of victory when one of their youngsters speaks against authority. For they had NO voice to authority. They had no voice allowed in their language and were so abused that the pain is effecting generations after.

Civilizing them, thats what we were doing... taking them from their families to a school from sept to june. most couldnt afford to get their kids home for Christmas. The Lord revealed all of this to my heart after a lifetime of hate. Sure I had the "good ones" who were my friends... I considered them the exceptions though my 4 white indian friends is what I referred to them as... I'm now so very ashamed.

So what can stop the hatred & the prejudice? Compassion and forgiveness that can only come from one by the Holy Spirit. In praying for these people the Lord placed it upon my heart that in order for them to achieve forgiveness, there has to be accountability. It cant come from the government as that falls on deaf ears, It wont come from the church... It must come from the individual to the individual. One of my friends grandmothers wrote the book "stoney creek woman". This is a woman who choose forgiveness and left a legacy of prosperity as opposed to bitterness to her family. I'm amazed at how the healing of one person in Christ can effect every single generation that follows her.

Now as to the Church. I would speak out against it but pray for the Lords perfect words for each individual. I would start with those you know who attend. Again, prayerfully and spirit led is so important. I wouldnt go there and cast your pearls among swine or embarasse your friends by taking a stand. I would though take a stand individual to individual as the Holy Spirit leads you.

God Bless you & keep you and protect you. I sence an urgency in the prayers for protection of you and I will do this along with others I'm sure. You may have a difficult road ahead but remember with just a sling and a stone you can take down an army as you have our beautiful Lord upon your side! Bless your heart.

What is "ignorant" about what you put in bold text?

As one of my psychology professor said, "every person alive on this earth is prejudiced. The only question is prejudiced toward what?"

After working S.W.A.T. and Drug investigations for 16 years I have learned a few things. One thing is if they look like a gang banger, you better treat them that way. Is that stereotyping or prejudiced? Call it what you want, It keeps me alive. You are welcome to come ride with me one night if you want. I will give you $100 if you walk 1/2 mile through the ghetto on a weekend night. Call it stereotyping if you want, but I know where the bad areas of town are. Why are they bad areas of town? Simple answer. The majority of the inhabitants of the area are bad people. Has nothing to do with race. All races are equally good criminals there.

Keep your money. With any high risk profession that takes you into potentially dangerous situations - you'd be rather naive not to size up the situation and prepare to protect yourself and others... If you are in law enforcement I wouldn't want you for a partner if you didn't know the area you are supposed to be serving... I'm sure being such a pro - you take extreme measures to make sure you aren't confusing caution with intolerance.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
