This was something I never understood (blasphemy of the Holy Spirit). I mean people would say it was the unforgivable sin, but I never KNEW what that meant exactly. Well in Bible study we studied the passage mentioned in the title of the thread (Matt 12:22-37) and it was like a light clicked on and slapped me over the head! Even though I read it many times before, this time I got it!

What I gathered was that (in the simplest terms) it meant crediting something you know the Holy Spirit has done to Satan. It was what the pharisees were doing in verse 24. As we were discussing this my husband says, "well, that's a pretty stupid thing to do" and we were all like yeah it is! See, because I never really knew what it meant and I couldn't grasp the concept of an "unforgivable" sin, I (and I'm sure others) worried whether they had done it. Like I worried about a time when something traumatic happened and I yelled at God and told him I hated what he did, but later took it back and was sorry and asked forgiveness, I worried that what I had said was unforgiveable. So really a better example of the unforgivable sin would be if I had a disease and asked God to heal me and when he did, I thanked Satan for the healing or told people it was because of satan's power I was healed (yeah, I'd say pretty stupid thing to do!) That is what the pharisees were doing. They were calling Jesus in essence the son of satan (prince of demons) and crediting that power ( not Jesus authority as the son of God) with driving out evil spirits.

Ok, sorry for my ramblings, but I was just excited to finally understand something I didn't and I was amazed and thankful for God leading me through my study! (don't know why that should amaze me, but it does!) :)

Blessings to all!

Okay. I get it now. Thanks. I never really knew exactly what it meant either.

Isn't that what alot of ppl do when they see unexplained things happen though? For instance, I see alot of ppl knocking certain televangelists who have "healing ministries" and such. Now, I'm not saying I agree with those ministries..however, this is one of the reasons I think we should be cauteous about calling one another "of satan" and such. Unless we know for sure that it is satan at work, I think we need to be very careful about labeling ppl that way.

I hear more people saying it's fake or not real at all when it comes to a lot of these healings, but you made a good point about not attibuting it to satan, if it is atually from God.

Right on Tess...this is why I refrain from answering anything concerning lambasting an evangelist or minister...I do not want the Lord to ask my why I spread such things about his servants....That is VERY scary for me!...Also the fact that I know that the Lord will deal with those that need to be delt with!

Yes, I totally agree

If we have problems @ a ministry we need to bring the concerns to the Lord nd leave the matter in God's hands.

I noticed on this board several posts with ongoing dialogues about certain TV preachers. Its in poor taste for a board of this quality, patriculalry a Christian Website, I think ...

I'm not sure which TV preachers you are refering to but there are some that teach outright blasphemy and are heretics. Shall I name names? When Jesus refers to he blasphemy of the Holy Spirit the works that were in question were undeniably the work of God and God alone.

I think that Jesus knew that the Pharises were envious; I think Jesus knew that these men had followed and seen things that only God could do! I think Jesus knew that these men knew God was really working miracles through Jesus, and the Apostles through Jesus Name. So Jesus saw in their hearts that they were deliberately calling what they themselves witnessed to be from God,( the miracles, words, and fruit of the Spirit) Evil ! They were knowingly calling the Holy, evil, to protect their own ministries! Woe to them that call good evil, and evil, good!

Blaspheming the Holy Spirit is a deliberate act of calling the working of God through the Holy Spirit, evil, or from the devil.

That takes a very prideful, envious, and hateful heart to blaspheme the Holy Spirit; it's deliberate and very hard for a true Christian to commit.

Many people think that these tv evangelist/prophets/healers, are bogus, maybe even from the devil! Maybe they even think these ministers are Satans decieving ministers of righteousness , with lying signs and wonders, and these ministers know their master is the Devil!

But you see this really could be true! And some of these ministers really are now allowed to do signs and even miracles to decieve Christians!

Now its best not to accuse them since there is no true biblical order in most of these churches to call them to account; they would just throw you out!

But if someone did call them out being convinced they were false and needed to be exposed; even if this man was wrong in his accusation ; he has commited an offence and a sin, but he did not knowingly call the working of the Holy Spirit , Evil ! This man was decieved; but it's been more often than not today that the stuff we see on tv is at best bad doctrine, but there is so much counterfeit garbage, the true Holy people of God are very hard to find.

Blessings to you all.

What we must understand is that healing, salvation and casting out demons is the work of God. Just because someone might be a false prophet or teacher they can still have miricles in the name of Jesus.

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

These people were doing great things in the name of Jesus but to their destruction, they were also workers of iniquity.

I make sure i never accuse someone of being possessed by a demon especially when they claim to be a Christian. Disagreeing with what a preacher is teaching is Not blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is saying that a Holy Spirit indwelled Christian is possessed by a demon. Its calling the Holy Spirit a demon, that

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
