Therefore if a person believes they are at liberty to tattoo themselves and pierce themselves and their heart doesn't condemn them in what they allow, who am I to argue with these godly

Spirit led practices. :whistling:

rolleyes.gif Because tattooing scripture on your body is such a pagan thing to do whistling.gif

If you tag a wee bit of religion onto virtually any practice it gains respectability and becomes more palatable....

We all have the tendency to justify what we allow into our lives in this present moment, but often

down the line we see things differently and shake our heads at our own willfulness, or weakness.

I'm sure many Believers like yourself who do these things, do so out of pure motives...

I would just question the wisdom in embracing these practices and the potential for sending out a

mixed message.

Then why not apply the same argument to ear lobe piercing? I don't get it. That is the mixed message... that some piercings are ok and others aren't based on some arbitrary principle?

There are many things people do it look better... dying and cutting their hair, shaving their legs, nice clothes, jewelery... there should be a set way of determining which is OK for a Christian and which isn't. That is what bugs me. It seems this decision is not made based on some standard but personal preference.

Sorry just a tiny bit more... is anyone aware of the false religious practices involved in the early use of make up? It was to adorn the dead for their religious burial ceremony ohmy.gif. Hair dye and nail polish have been used since the dark ages as a social class indicator.

I think this debate has been had many times before in many different settings - take the most recent halloween thread and it's link to pagan practices, and just wait, there WILL be a christmas tree thread soon laugh.gif.

Somehow we manage to navigate through practices that likely have a pagan origin but the pagan component is long since removed. I do though, understand the danger in publicising your willingness to take part in such things knowing the knock on affect it can cause others.

So maybe I should keep my metal addiction quiet taped.gif.

It is rather funny to see someone say piercings are wrong, and then say a lobe piercing of the ear is ok. Nah no double standards here.

Butero - it happens here all the time.

I hate make up with a passion. I hate the way it is used in the media to form some kind of stereotype women must be able to achieve. I hate the fact that some women need to wear it to feel good about themselves. I hate the way my family (and most people) feel you are dressing down if you don't wear it.

No I don't wear it and make a stand against it because I hate how manipulative it is. I don't want to support an industry that plays at women's sensitivity.

I recently went to a wedding without make up on and my mother took me aside and said, Candice, don't you think you can respect the bride enough to make an effort? Huh? I was clean, in a nice dress... but somehow my drunk potty mouth sister was applauded for her looks and my upright behaviour meant nothing unless I "at least put on some mascara and lippy". Unreal.

I also refuse to buy into the fashion industry at large. If you have ever met me, you would know I wear boring clothes. For the same reason that I abhor make up.

I just don't use my body as a tool to make a statement and I have piercings but they aren't to fit into a clique group, they are there just because it's a personal decision I made for me. I think the way I carry myself makes it crystal clear that I am not a part of any crowd. I swear if you saw a photo of me you would think I'm a squeaky clean plane jane conservative chrirstian, even with my piercings.

This is what 4 of them look like

I'm really not fussed about it all lol.

I don't really see piercing your ear-lobes in the same light as piercing your body...it has become socially acceptable, and is merely another way of wearing earrings

but when it starts to go beyond this I personally find it reaches another level and even becomes socially controversial, especially amongst various Christians....holes for earrings

are understandable even if I don't like them....numerous holes and studs, lip-piercings, nose piercings et alia are for what exactly?

I totally agree that in so many things the pagan content has been eradicated or neutralised...reminds me of the song 'why should the Devil have all the good music'...

I am one of those who will have nothing to do with Halloween...when I was a kid and lived in the USA it was great fun, and I loved my skeleton suit....but now back in

England and a Believer to boot, I just don't buy into it as it is pagan commercialism...that is the only reason it has been promoted here....20 years ago it didn't really

exist.

I have no problem with make-up...except when I am trailing in the wake of a lady who has put on so much powder I am choking in the jet stream...or if she has a

lemon-scented perfume that effects my breathing and makes my eyes water. ...some blokes also over-do the after-shave.

Bro... I know what you are saying, I just don't think you realise how other piercings have become socially acceptable just like ear piercings have. I have a feeling I'm pushing the point though, and I don't want to appear to be a badger... so cool.gif me and my metal are gunna give the topic a rest.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
