The senior pastor of America’s largest Christian church said Tuesday that he not only would have no problem voting for a Mormon presidential candidate, like Republican Mitt Romney, he also would not rule out the possibility of some day voting for a Jewish or even Muslim candidate for the nation’s highest office.

“Sure I could,” said Joel Osteen, leader pastor of Houston’s Lakewood Church, in an appearance on Piers Morgan Tonight, which airs on CNN. However, he added, “90 percent of America is Christian so I’m pretty sure I’d find somebody who more shares my beliefs.”

Among those beliefs, said Osteen, is that the Bible explicitly instructs Christians to support the nation of Israel. Thus, said the pastor, “We stand with the Israeli people.”

Osteen expressed empathy with the Palestinian people, who currently are seeking statehood. “Our hearts go out to the Palestinian people,” said Osteen. “They want peace. They want to live their life in victory, as well.”

The popular pastor and his wife Victoria actually visited Israel this past February, where their “Night of Hope” worship service played to a full auditorium. Contrary to perceptions here in the United States, Victoria Osteen told CNN’s Morgan, the couple found Israel “very peaceful.”

The Osteens appeared on Morgan’s nightly show to promote the pastor’s latest book, Every Day a Friday, which this week hit Number 1 on the New York Times Advice, How-To, and Miscellaneous Hardcover best seller list.

Aside from presidential politics and Middle East policy, Joel Osteen was asked his positions on such hot-button issues as abortion, the death penalty and same-sex marriage.

The pastor reiterated his previously-stated opposition to abortion. “Every baby should live,” he told Morgan. But he was considerably more equivocal in discussing his views on executions and gay marriage.

“It would be against my faith to marry two gay people,” said Osteen, noting that, of the many marriages mentioned in the Bible, none were same-sex. Yet, Lakewood’s senior pastor and his wife said they would have no problem attending a same-sex wedding, if the gay or lesbian couple happened to be friends of theirs.

Osteen neither said he supported or opposed capital punishment. He told Morgan he had not really studied the issue sufficiently to make up his mind, notwithstanding the fact that his home state of Texas executes more offenders each year than any other state.

Now in several articles I read and including on some Christian forums Joel Osteen has been a debate topic.

Actually not so much a debate but a Christian view about his preaching being prosperity gospel.

Now he's being asked about his political views. I would like to ask do you agree or disagree with everything in the article with Joel Osteen?

Please read the topics in the article his views that he expressed and let's what are some opinion by members on this article.

1. You agree with Osteen that it would be ok to have a president that is Mormon, Jewish or Muslim?

2.Your opinion on Israel and Palestine conflict. Your input about America's involvement with Israels issues.

3. What do you say about abortion?

4. What is your say about gay marriage? Would you attend a wedding of a gay friend?

5. What is your view on capital punishment in comparison to Joel's view?

2.Your opinion on Israel and Palestine conflict. Your input about America's involvement with Israels issues.

3. What do you say about abortion?

4. What is your say about gay marriage? Would you attend a wedding of a gay friend?

5. What is your view on capital punishment in comparison to Joel's view?

Ive had issues with what he has said in interviews and some of his doctrinal positions.

In the article above, he said that 90% of the US is Christian. I cannot believe that any pastor would feel that way. It makes me wonder if he even has a grasp of what it means to be a Christian.

As for your questions ...

1. You agree with Osteen that it would be ok to have a president that is Mormon, Jewish or Muslim?

I could never vote for a muslim for office because of their hatred towards Israel and because of what I know first hand about an agenda and how they are working on that agenda. Ive been watching that unfold now for years. I could not vote for a mormon either. I live in an area with many mormon politicians and there has been a lot of corruption from them, especially when it comes to giving things out to other mormons. Nearly bankrupted my state in fact with one of those deals. As for a Jewish candidate, they would have a bias towards Israel, but so do I. I dont think that would be an issue for me.

2.Your opinion on Israel and Palestine conflict. Your input about America's involvement with Israels issues.

I dont know how much the US should get involved, but we should never abandon Israel. According to prophecy, one day we will (all nations will turn on Israel), but I would hope that could be postponed lol. I believe that Israel has the right to defend itself against increasing terrorism and the increasing antagonism of the world.

3. What do you say about abortion?

Abortion is murder and a sin. I wish it were illegal, but it wont happen in the US. Even the prolife Republicans wont really do anything about it.

4. What is your say about gay marriage? Would you attend a wedding of a gay friend?

Gay marriage is wrong and no I would not attend.

And that was something that osteen said that I disagreed with. He would attend such a wedding. To me, that would condone what is clearly a sin. I wouldnt stand out there with a placard calling them sinners, but neither could I share in celebrating a sinful lifestyle.

5. What is your view on capital punishment in comparison to Joel's view?

When I was unsaved, I voted for capital punishment. I dont really have much of an opinion for or against at this point, yet capital punishment does bother me a bit lately. I wonder if my vote when I was unsaved reflects a view that a believer should not have.

No to Mormon & Muslim. Yes to Jewish as long as bacon supplies are not affected.

America should support Israel.

3. What do you say about abortion?

Abortion is murdering children

4. What is your say about gay marriage? Would you attend a wedding of a gay friend?

Wouldn't attend

5. What is your view on capital punishment in comparison to Joel's view?

Disagree with CP

5. What is your view on capital punishment in comparison to Joel's view?

1. I would not want anyone first of all in office that couldn't do the job correctly. If you are going to be the president of the United States of America then do what is right for the people that put you there.

I wouldn't want anyone that was not Christian to be president.

2. Well as we know that Israel is God's chosen people. So I'm sure that by the time this conflict were over that it doesn't matter what Palestine

has to say. They will never be able to go against what God says. As for America well if we have to be involved at all then I would pray that it was the right thing to do in favor of Israel.

3. This subject is very saddening to me. I think it's a crime that any woman would go through with this no matter what the situation.

There's always another solution even if this abortion is the result of rape.

The unborn child didn't ask for this to happen. It didn't choose to not be here either. There are always lots of people that can't have children that would love those that are unborn. Sad just sad.

4. Of course I'm against gay anything..Gay relationship, marriage, adoption for same sex couples, the whole 9 yards.

I could only hope and pray that they would change their ways. As for attending the wedding...I don't think so. I would have to refuse politely.

5. As for capital punishment I really haven't thought about it but in having to answer this question I don't believe in it.

Yet again no matter how bad or viscous the crime was then give them a lifetime in jail sentence. Hopefully while sitting in the jail then if they want to repent from their sin they can turn their ways and be ready to have an eternal salvation with God if he says it is ok when they are judged.

I would be okay with a Jewish President but not a Mormon or a muslim.

We need to support Israel....always.

It's murder.

4. What is your say about gay marriage? Would you attend a wedding of a gay friend?

I say 'gay marriage' is an oxymoron. I would never be a particpant in an abomination such as a gay wedding.

5. What is your view on capital punishment in comparison to Joel's view?

I believe it's Biblical.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
