Welllll....I don`t have any use for television, or movies, or radio even for that matter. I find it all very depressing, foul, full of filth and sinful ideas. as much as I do like HGTV, I don`t like all the gay people being portrayed in 75% of the home and garden shows, so even that has become distasteful to me. The childrens programming has the same problem as HGTV. Sad that our world has come to that.

I don`t read anything that isn`t Christian or research anymore either, just doesn`t feel good.

But wine I don`t have a problem with...drinking with non Christian friends I have no problem with, because they know where I am in my spiritual life. Abraham drank and fell asleep naked in his tent...his son was cursed because he didn`t respect his father`s nakedness. Genisis 10 I think it is. Says nothing about Abraham sinning here. I am not saying we are okay to be drunks...we are not...but sometimes when you are drinking with friends you do get drunk. Not a good thing by any means, but there is nothing wrong with being social with non Christian friends...many of them come to Christ. When you eat with friends you often don`t feel well because you ate too much too:)

Wine is wine is wine...juice is juice is juice...ever try drinking bad juice... It sure doesn`t taste like wine. Wine is made on purpose...you cannot drink bad juice.

I have a neighbor i drink with once in a while...he is an alcoholic and a drug user. Been praying for him for 5 years, preaching too, drinking the odd time...a couple of times in excess. Guess what...today he doesn`t drink anymore...no drugs either as far as I know. he`s starting to get in touch with God...his heart has been changing over the last year in a big way.

Rusty, I'm with you. One Light that is just what I was thinking of: Ro 12: 1-2. When I am in public and I overhear someone exclaim the Lord's name in vain I shout out "Praise the Lord!" a few times. Yes, license is not the spiritual focus here. But for those who seek license:

Gal 5:22 "But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

As I said we are to be different from the world... a light. Those who confess Jesus are to be those lights, I dont' believe you can do with a drink in your hand or watching movies that take the Lords name in vain.. I guess the question is, if Jesus were to come back and you were drinking or watching a movie with everyone taking the Lords name in vain would you be proud of that?

Jesus managed to be a light with a drink in his hand and ate with those who took the Lord's name in vain

Matthew 9:10

King James Version (KJV)

10And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.

Luke 22:20

20Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

There is a vast differece between having wine with a meal and going out drinking with some gentile buddies. Messiah nor the apostles were walking around with a wineskin full of wine while they declared the news of the coming kingdom. And yes certainly every single person on this earth will hear a cuss word or two as well as other things yet it does not mean we should be allowing those things from our mouths or into our lives.

There are good people, good believers who can listen to cuss words, watch some questionable movies who are not in danger of falling prey to the entrapment behind it, there are also others who are in danger of being around all that and falling prey to it. The best course of action we can take is to avoid for ourselves the things we know are a danger, we also should avoid going out drinking and having a grand time with gentile people. By our actions we are judged by all those around us, you can say thats right or wrong but its the way God set it up, His chosen elect should portray all the godliness Yeshua did, and we know that Messiah never got drunk, with anyone, nor did He go around cussing and all that nonsense. By our actions, our deeds, our words, through our lives we are to be set apart for the world to see His glory and grace and by that others would want to have the shalom and blessing only He can give. And frankly one can not shine His light when they are stumbling around drunk with the unsaved or cussing like a sailor either.

shalom,

Mizz

No one said anything about getting drunk or cussing.

Just because you "go out drinking with some gentile buddies" doesn't mean you have to get drunk.

Just because you watch a movie with cussing does not mean that you have to cuss

Matthew 15:11

King James Version (KJV)

11Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

I in the last couple of years have observed some things in the Body of Christ and it has broken my heart.

I see the "church" believers accepting things and approving of things that are in my opinion just plain wrong. Believers wanting to ignore what scripture says and trying to twist it to fit their own belief system.

I know what it says about in the last days many will fall away and turn from the truth and that is just what is happening. I'm hearing Christians say things about alternative lifestyles that "well maybe God did make them that way who are we to judge?" Or I have heard Christians say, I see nothing wrong in drinking with my non Christian friends, I want to fit in and not seem "holiere then thou" I actually have a Christian friend who will watch movies with all kinds of cursing in it, when asked if it bothered her she said yes but she will still watch them.

I am more convinced now more then ever we are coming down to the wire. We as believers are going to have to make a choice. Are we going to blend in and not rock the boat? or are we going to be that light that Jesus called us to be? I have seen to many Christians trying to stand with one foot in the world and the other in the Kingdom of God and that never works. We are not to be a silent people. Someone once said if we could just get a split second glimps of hell we would be out stopping everyone on the street telling them about Jesus.

I'm asking you as I did myself, are we going to keep silent, or are we going to be those who God called us to be, preaching the gospel to all the world and making sure that those we meet has a chance to join us on this journey to eternity with God.?

As I said we are to be different from the world... a light. Those who confess Jesus are to be those lights, I dont' believe you can do with a drink in your hand or watching movies that take the Lords name in vain.. I guess the question is, if Jesus were to come back and you were drinking or watching a movie with everyone taking the Lords name in vain would you be proud of that?

Jesus drank wine. Alcohol is not a sin when controlled by the person imbibing. There are some things which we as Believers are to work out for ourselves. Be careful here. I don't watch certain TV shows when they champion some particular godless cause, but I don't throw the baby away with the bathwater either.

Well, here it is again. A thread that is trying to point to how we are to be like Christ that is turning out to protect the desires of the person with what they can and cannot do ... how sad. I guess it shows where peoples focus lies.

Glad to see others noticing, Rusty! Through the past few years, there have been threads on this board pertaining to this very subject, but they get hijacked about what we are allowed to do and what we are not allowed to do, instead of the message of being Christ like. Too many today are trying to find that fine line they can walk up to, but not willing to cross. What people fail to realize is we are what we feed ourselves ... of as Neb puts it ... garbage in, garbage out.

Romans 12:1-3

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

Scripture does not say that we are to remove from us those who are in the world, but it does say that we are not to conform to the world. Can we be an example of Christ by remaining Christ like? When participating in the worlds activities, does one just ignore the inner workings of the Holy Spirit and follow their flesh? How are we to be an example if we do not stand apart from the worlds activities? Where is the difference?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
