Who would you go to?

I dont know whether maybe I should put this into another board not general discussion but ah well, its here now

Just another thought towards christians...

I was thinking earlier about the age difference between young and old christians and thought i would put this forward to you all

If faced with a spiritual problem who would you think it would be best to go to for help and advice?

A) A person who has been a Christian for 1 year

or

B) A person who has been a Christian for 11 years

You love both these people equally and they would both try to give you advice to the best of their abilities.

Based on this knowledge I would logically chose to go for person B and I'm sure most - if not all of you - would too.

Now if i asked you the same question but in a different way, what would your response be;

A) A good christian, 40 years old, goes to church every week, loves God.

or

B) A good christian, 18 years old, goes to church every week, loves God

You love both these people equally and they would both try to give you advice to the best of their abilities.

When I started thinking about this I figured that most people based just on the second piece of info would most probably go for person A.

Why is this? ...

We need to stop looking at physical maturity and start looking at spiritual maturity. Just because a person may be younger in physical age, does not mean that they are young in spiritual age.

Just something to think about.

I totally agree with you.

Spiritual maturity should be number one when we are looking for fellowship. Physcial age is just a number, except in extreme cases, but overall what your saying hits the nail on the head.

Of cource one would lean to the more spititually mature whether they be twenty, thirty, forty of otherwise.

Before a decision is made, you should look at their fruits- that's the deciding factor. I've seen many Christians, who have been a believer for decades have less fruits than one who has been a Christian for 6 months.

One does have to ask as to what is the definition of a true Christian?

Is it by their fruits? So many Christians that I know have two different entities. One is their outward public Christian and underneath their public picture does not match.

You're exactly right Daisy!

BTW- Daisy, FrenchPhenom and scrambled_brain- Welcome to Worthy! Be blessed!

We all see lukewarm Christians everyday- and I know because I used to be one! It's very sad and very scary at the same time, because the word says in Revelation 3:16, God spits them out of His mouth.

Dear S, I would definitely start with the prayer for wisdom and understanding (Those are ministering spirits of the Lord ).

Isa 6:2  And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

and for leading thru the scriptures. And than ask the Lord to confirm thru the Christian fellow.(If there is a need) That what I usually do. He has never let me be ashamed.

Jude 1:24  Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

25  To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Blessing to you.

Irina.

Greetings Scrambled Brain,

I would normally gravitate to the oldster, but I've known some oldsters in the church that I couldn't trust to recite John 3:16, and I've known some fine youngsters that just blow me away with their knowledge of the Word and their humility. So here is what Paul says to one of his favorite students:

1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

It would totally depend on the people.

However first and formost you should take the problem to the Lord and read the entire bible with the problem in mind as you read through and in prayer.

I know of many who didn't need to take the problem to anyone but the Lord this way and you don't have to put your trust an any single person. It isn't a quick fix, but good results are seldome really quick or easy.

It would also depend on the spiritual problem, all things are different and need different responses.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
