Recently a friend asked me what the differences are between the spiritual heart soul and mind. I wasn't sure how to answer (we were texting) and I said I would answer later. What are the differences? I need some help with what to answer.

The heart houses the emotions, the mind the thoughts and the spirit is who we really are without the body in whole. That is the simplest I can make it.

We as humans are created as tripartite beings. Simply put, I am a spirit, I have a soul, and I live in a body.

The spirit of man doesn't have sensation---we are not aware of it, but our soul, which relates to it and receives from God out of the abundance of His promises which are deposited there in a believer, is the seat of the mind, will and emotions. The personality is housed within the soul. The character of a person is there and it is shaped by the filtering through of Godly attributes---fruit---that originate from the born again spirit.

From the soul, the body receives the truths of God, such as healing and health, and it prospers as it obeys God's word as it is put under subjection to the truth.

As I understand it, the soul is one's mind, will, and emotions.

The spirit is your core being, sometimes called "heart" in the Bible.

Hebraically the idea that the heart is the seat of ones will, it houses our emotions, intellect, thoughts. When we accept Him and ask Him into our heart we are asking Him to align our heart or will to His. It is about His will on earth as it is in heaven and as we strive to allow our will to die and allow His to take hold in us I would think thats what some call the 'spiritual heart'. Its His will done in our lives and where He leads us.

My understanding parallels this. Further, the spirit works from within the heart (which is mostly analagous to the soul) and brings us understanding from the Lord.

The spirit of a man is the lamp of the LORD, Searching all the inner depths of his heart. Proverbs 20:27

But there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding. Job 32:8

When we are indwelled by the Spirit of God, then we are one spirit with Him per 1 Corinthians 6:17. He guides us, moves us, teaches us, communes with us, gives us knowledge and understanding, instructs our consciences from within....Spirit-to-spirit. The spirit is the master of the soul, which in turn, is the master of the body.

blessings,

Watchman Neo :)

Gee Nebula, Mizzdy sounds like she's in a "performance" based relationship rather than an intimate one wouldn't you agree?

This comment is entirely inappropriate and in violation of our TOS, particularly:

Debate the subject, not the person. It is possible to disagree about a doctrine or subject under discussion without insulting the person with whom you are debating. Also remember that the fact that a person disagrees with you does not mean they are attacking you as a person. Respect each other in the love of God! This is the main reason that threads get stopped, shut down, and even deleted! Users that cannot respect others will be banned. (Lev. 19:18)

It would be lovely to see an apology offered rather than any administrative action taken. Ball is in your court Stargaze.

As Candice has stated, it is against TOS and well its just done right rude to 'call' out someone especially if one doesnt have any real understandings of the Spirit or mind of God.

I would like you to show me how what I said is acting as if I base my relationship on performance? Lets review what I said:

Hebraically the idea that the heart is the seat of ones will, it houses our emotions, intellect, thoughts. When we accept Him and ask Him into our heart we are asking Him to align our heart or will to His. It is about His will on earth as it is in heaven and as we strive to allow our will to die and allow His to take hold in us I would think thats what some call the 'spiritual heart'. Its His will done in our lives and where He leads us.

Now the op was about the mind and soul, my answer is how its seen in the Hebrew thoughts how is that 'performanced based'? It is true that we are to align our hearts or our will to His, we develop a relationship with Him in this way. Scriptures tell us that we are to do His will here on earth and how would you go about doing that if you do not understand His message, His directions for you if you do not have the same will? You cannot line yourself up with His will unless it also what you want also. So tell me stargaze, what is wrong with that and how does that make it a 'peformance'. In my book its love, love of God, love of our fellow brothers and sisters in Messiah as well as love for all of man.

shalom,

Mizz

In another thread I made similar statements about how I approached my relationship with God back when I was a Christian [similar to Mizzdy]. I mentioned having God's will done through my life as a major goal, along with a steadfast prayer life. Nebular responded by saying that it sounded like I had a performance based relationship and no wonder I left the Christian faith. I responded by saying that he wouldn't have said that to a fellow Christian here and he/she stated that he/she certainly would call them out.

I wanted to see if Nebula was true to his/her word. I don't think Mizzdy has a performance based Christian life, I would never make such an accusation.

OK, how you explained it here was a much less personal way than your previous post. That said, I really don't think that Mizzdy has done or said anything for which Nebula needs to call her out on.

I was hoping that what I said would have been taken in a different light, meaning that I was calling Nebula out on something - not taking a jab at Mizzdy. Here's what I said to Nebula a while back:

"When I was a Christian it meant wanting to be an instrument for God doing his will whatever that was. It meant daily communion in prayer, I used to have a job that allowed me to be in prayer quite a lot throughout the day. It meant being willing to let go of what my personal pursuits are and accept what God gave me instead. This was my understanding or at least how I approached it."

I was told this sounded like a "performance" based relationship. I thought Mizzdy's comments reflected my own.

I see what you mean. It might have it was thought that you were scheduling your prayers or something along those lines and we see that in islam as well as in Judaism, making it seems somehow performanced based. Next time send Nebula a pm or you could somehow put a post together asking to see if theres similarities or how they differ? Calling someone out in the open forums really is frowned upon, against TOS.

I can see in some ways how you were trying to align your will to His, often times though we need to step back and make sure we are the ones who are not really leading ourselves in what we think He wants. Its hard to get rid of our fleshly desires, I would say impossible this side of His Kingdom but we strive daily to be what He wishes us to be.

shalom,

Mizz

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
