Thorough his sacrifice on the cross, Jesus established a new and eternal covenant between God and human beings. This covenant is a covenant of love, in which, Christ the bridegroom, purifies his bride, the Church (the people of God) by sacrificing his own life. Furthermore, He maintains an intimate communion with his people by feeding them with His sacrificial body and blood. Through this communion, his people not only establish a personal relationship with him, but also make him the Lord of their lives. Therefore, at the celebration of His Last Supper when we re-enter his sacrifice on the cross, we are celebrating the wedding feast of the Lamb in which He gives himself completely to us and we by receiving him accept his life as ours. Since, how we love God goes hand in hand with how we love our fellow human beings, the above form of love must also be present in marriage; which is also a covenant of love. Therefore a husband must completely give himself to his wife and the wife must completely accept him as her life. Furthermore, just as God is always faithful to his covenant with us although we betray him and are unfaithful to him by our sins; we too must faithful to our covenant with our spouse even if there is betrayal and unfaithfulness.

Define love in biblical terms.

Isaiah 59:20-21

"Then a Redeemer will come to Tziyon, to those in Ya'akov who turn from rebellion." So says ADONAI. "And as for me," says ADONAI, "this is my covenant with them: my Spirit, who rests on you, and my words which I put in your mouth will not depart from your mouth or from the mouth of your children, or from the mouth of your children's children, now or ever," says ADONAI.

Jeremiah 31:31-37

"Here, the days are coming," says ADONAI, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Isra'el and with the house of Y'hudah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers on the day I took them by their hand and brought them out of the land of Egypt; because they, for their part, violated my covenant, even though I, for my part, was a husband to them," says ADONAI. "For this is the covenant I will make with the house of Isra'el after those days," says ADONAI: "I will put my Torah within them and write it on their hearts; I will be their God, and they will be my people. No longer will any of them teach his fellow community member or his brother, 'Know ADONAI'; for all will know me, from the least of them to the greatest; because I will forgive their wickednesses and remember their sins no more." This is what ADONAI says, who gives the sun as light for the day, who ordained the laws for the moon and stars to provide light for the night, who stirs up the sea until its waves rorar -- ADONAI-Tzva'ot is his name: "If these laws leave my presence," says ADONAI, "then the offspring of Isra'el will stop being a nation in my presence forever." This is what ADONAI says: "If the sky above can be measured and the foundations of the earth be fathomed, then I will reject all the offspring of Isra'el for all that they have done," says ADONAI.

God promised to renew the covenant with His set apart children who call upon His name for salvation, He promised that when He did He would do so with the sealing of the Spirit upon all who confess His name. God also said the above that when the covenant is in full effect the Torah would be written on our hearts and minds, that no more would we be teaching one another His word but that all would be able to come to Him in Zion and hear it themselves. God also promised that until the sun, moon and stars are still in the sky His Torah will stand for all to learn of Him.

shalom,

Mizz

Weary from the years of battle, I hesitate to speak up... but if you will notice in the very passage our dear sister quoted from (Jeremiah 31:31-37) HaShem clearly stated that the New Covenant would not be like the Old Covenant. It is not a renewal at all. Those who teach that it is are clinging to the old covenant and imposing it upon the new which the Apostle Peter and the Apostle Paul opposed...

Galatians 3:24-25 (KJV)

24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

But, the Apostle Paul also taught that we are not without law:

1 Corinthians 9:19-21 (NIV)

19 Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.

20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.

21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law.

There are two laws or two Torahs. The Torah of Moses and the Torah of Messiah. Think of Torah Moses as the law of gravity and Torah Messiah as the law of aerodynamics. The law of gravity is still in effect only as one breaks the law of aerodynamics and finds themselves in free fall. Torah Moses is not for those who are under the covenant of Torah Messiah. The new covenant is not a renewal of the old.

Wrong. There is nothing in the Bible about re-entering the sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Jesus' work on the cross is finished. He is not being re-sacrificed for us over and over. You are presenting a false teaching. We have relationship with God through the once-for-all death of Jesus on the cross and we delviered once-for-all from the bondage of sin through Christ by grace through faith. We do not have to keep re-entering His sacrifice.

Nor does He continue to feed us His body and blood. That is not a biblical teaching. His body was broken and His blood was spilled one time and that is sufficient for all.

The last supper / communion is a memorial to the Lord's sacrifice... we are not commanded to remember his birth or even his resurrection (unless you can find it in scripture, I can't)... we are commanded to remember his death. And that was intended to be in the Passover Seder (which itself commemorates Jesus in a dozen ways or more). The superficial things the Gentilized Church has made this and many things about the faith into will get the basic message across but it lacks the intended richness and fullness of the Hebrew faith which God intended. Like reading only the New Testament provides a black and white picture of the faith whereas the testament of both testaments gives rich color in high def so that every subtle nuance is shown and understood.

The bread of the Passover Seder (unleavened / matzoh) which is broken is a special piece of matzoh from the center pocket of a three pocketed cloth (symbolizing the triune nature of God and the middle one is the one who became the broken bread for our sins). This bread is broken and half is wrapped and hidden (symbolizing the death and burial of our Lord). Children hunt for the hidden piece of matzoh (called the afikomen) and a prize is given to the one who finds it (and a child shall lead... the kingdom of heaven is of such as these (children), if you enter not as a small child you cannot inherit the kingdom of God... This piece is what is broken and partaken of by the congregation. There was a time when Jews who went on ocean trips took leftover afikomen with them as it was believed it kept them from drowning (Jesus walked on the water)...

When witnessing to unbelieving Jews, I often brought up the elements of Seder that point right to Jesus (Yeshua) and they can't answer why they don't believe in him from all this evidence other than it is deeply instilled in them that a Jew does not believe in Jesus (or they cease to be Jews).

It's not true. Even if it were true, the Jewish Messiah is the ultimate... being Jewish is not the ultimate. And God the Father adores all who love his Son.

John 16:26-27 (NASB95)

26 “In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I will request of the Father on your behalf;

27 for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came forth from the Father.

You ask in the OP what is the New Covenant? This passage I quote is the New Testament in a nutshell.

You want to feed your spirit?

Pray to God and read and study his word.

You want to strengthen your spirit?

Exercise it by resisting the devil and the flesh (your temptations).

God has already placed within us his Spirit so we cannot grow any closer to him certainly not through works. Our problem is we don't hear his voice because we are not listening, or we do not know how to listen (which we find from studying the scriptures and resisting temptation). And we must be very certain it is actually his voice we hear when we hear what we think is his voice.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 (NASB95)

21 But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good;

1 John 4:1 (NASB95)

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit {including what you think is the Holy Spirit} , but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Acts 17:11 (NASB95)

11 Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NASB95)

16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

.... There are two laws or two Torahs. The Torah of Moses and the Torah of Messiah....

Both

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:19-20

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Romans 3:27

Were Given

And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. Exodus 33:11

By The LORD Jesus

All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Matthew 11:27

So What's Not To Like

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matthew 5:17-18

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:19

___

Words Of Wonder

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength: Isaiah 26:3-4

Words Of Life

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. Jeremiah 15:16

You cannot make that which is set aside for the burning up~ Holy! That which is not burnt up is The Holy we may set our hearts upon!

When I take communion- it is not the wafer or the juice that I recognize as anything but the represent of the Body and Blood that which I shall see in my eye and hear in my ear on The Throne forever... Jesus My Lord and My God; just as Thomas also myself in future hope of present assurance-> so by His Word and in Him is no lie the Covenant from beginnings... Love, Steven

Who is the author of the covenant? Who gave Moses the law, why did Judah and Tamar follow Torah when Torah had not been given? Who is the author of the Torah? Was the Torah ever meant as any means of salvation? Torah is not meant to save only Messiah can do that, Moses Torah was not meant to save either, Yeshua did not do away with His instructions. What most do not ever seem to understand is that no commandment other than to believe in who He will be and who He is, its by faith in Him that brings us into the covenant nothing more and nothing less.

Again define love biblically, according to scriptures we are to love God with all our hearts, we are to put Him first, we are to carry that love and service to everyone we meet or encounter. Yet God tells us if we love Him we will keep His Torah once we come to faith in Him that obedience is the natural step, so what do we obey? love? abstain from meat offered to idols and why is that, its a Torah command and not one repeated by Messiah. Seems that the Torah of Moses was given to him by God, Messiahs Torah is the same Torah with more a twist, He made it harder to follow yet He also gave us His Spirit so we can overcome.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
