I liked CR. I didn't know he was sick at all. Total shock to me.

When would a doctor need to stop from aborting YOU? When were you "human"?

As I said, the criteria I use is a functioning brain. The brain is functional before birth. So a baby after it is born is already a human being. Has been for some time. Just not since fertalization.

Its the mind. The identity that we protect. Not cells or DNA. You will not enjoy immortality by preserving a sample of your DNA in a petri dish (I understand you have a different way of seeking immortality). It is the preservation of the mind and identity that we seek. Your particular beliefs have expressed this in the form of the soul and salvation. Other beliefs seek to become one with the universe. But all are focused on preserving the identity or figuring out what happens to the identity.

Current abortion practices tend to move along this line of process. Before the third trimester there is not sufficient brain for an identity to arise. Sometime during the third trimester the brain has developed enough to begin creating a mind. Thus the resistance to performing an abortion during the third trimester.

This is not meant as a defense of abortion. It is merely informing you of the reasoning behind some prochoice types out there. I do not wish to disturb this forum with a debate that we already know the outcome of (neither side budging and everyone being angry at each other).

The final arbitrator on the eternal destiny of Mr Reeve will be the L-rd....we do not know what can go on in a persons heart even at the last minutes of life or during a coma..we are not called to pronounce judgement but to preach the Gospel.

Sorry. We did sorta get off the subject, didn't we. I thought Mr. Reeves was a good actor and loved seeing him in the movie where he goes back in time (a romantic movie with Jane Seymoure).

Superman wasn't for me, personally.

I always liked Christopher Reeves, and was sad when I read about his passing.

I know you will take this as a bad thing, but Reeve played for our team. Christopher Reeve was an open atheist.

When asked about whether he turned to God for inspiration after the accident he said he felt it would be dishonest to turn to something he had never believed in before the accident.

I understand your hope for his salvation is meant as a good thing. But Reeve did not believe he needed salvation. He believed that when he died he would be dead.

He was a courageous man. He was an inspiration to many. He will be missed.
