Marriage is a covenant of love between two human beings (a man and a woman) in which they unite their lives to form one life (Matthew 19:5-6). Since life is physiological the only way they can unite their lives is by uniting their physiologies. Among all the physiologies we have, the only physiology in which two human beings can unite is in reproductive physiology. Since reproduction is only possible between a man and a woman union of reproductive physiologies is only possible between a man and a woman. Therefore, marriage is only possible between a man and a woman.

This was confusing to me.

Why a man and a woman?

Because God said so.

I need to keep it simple.

In Love,

Adam and Eve were married just after God created woman (Eve)

Genesis 2 : 25

And they were both naked,

the man and his wife,

and were not ashamed.

God must have married them... for she was mentioned as his wife.

‘God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.’ (Not my line - I heard it in a sermon; but it makes the point very well.) God created us male and female; this is the model He gave us and He did this for a reason: Genesis states it is for companionship and procreation.

I think the purpose of marriage is wonderfully summed up in the traditional marriage vows used by the Church of England:

Marriage is a gift of God in creation

through which husband and wife may know the grace of God.

It is given

that as man and woman grow together in love and trust,

they shall be united with one another in heart, body and mind,

as Christ is united with his bride, the Church.

The gift of marriage brings husband and wife together

in the delight and tenderness of sexual union

and joyful commitment to the end of their lives.

It is given as the foundation of family life

in which children are [born and] nurtured

and in which each member of the family,in good times and in bad,

may find strength, companionship and comfort,

and grow to maturity in love.

Marriage is a way of life made holy by God,

and blessed by the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ

with those celebrating a wedding at Cana in Galilee.

Marriage is a sign of unity and loyalty

which all should uphold and honour.

It enriches society and strengthens community.

No one should enter into it lightly or selfishly

but reverently and responsibly in the sight of almighty God.

The Bible indicates that there is more going on in the union of man & woman than the biological process of procreation.

C.S. Lewis wrote that humankind is a sort of spiritual amphibian, living at once in two different worlds; the spiritual and the physical. If this is accepted as an axiom then the joining of man and woman results in a creature that is more, much more, than other forms of life on this planet. The human child is imbued with spirit at some point in gestation. The extension of this logic implies that not only is the joining of man and woman important, but that there is some sort of sacred quality about it. This is the reason that heterosexual fornication and adultery is forbidden and why abortion is murder.

The reader should also be reminded of the Biblical revelation that the world is engaged in spiritual warfare. It isn't only about human appetites, habits, traditions and willfulness. Spiritual entities that are concerned with perverting God's perfect creation are actively involved in disturbing human judgment and behavior.

When I use the word 'judgment' I am referring to personal decision about obeying God's ordinances as well as the attending consequences of such actions. The first sin, recorded in the garden account in Genesis, was twofold. First, it called God a liar and second it judged human actions to be completely autonomous in nature. Sin judges human action to be outside the restriction and regulation of divine law and apart from even natural processes. Morality thus becomes a four letter word.

Having breached the walls of God's kind law, the sinful human ventures into activities, to quote the famous song lyric, where even angels fear to tread. Now acting outside God's law, the sinful human is also outside God's merciful protection against satanic influences and in the realm of self-destruction. It is well documented by those who have escaped satanic slavery that sex outside God's prescribed law is very much like 'bait'. The unknowing human animal is lured into spiritual slavery by means of sexuality. Only the blood of the lamb shed upon the cross can set such a person free.

If all of this seems to be a bit 'over the top', as it were, consider also the extreme level of demand placed upon society by those who choose to violate natural law and by those who cry loudly that God doesn't exist or that the Bible isn't what it claims to be; God's Holy Word. If all this isn't an issue that goes to the very heart of what it means to live in a world under God's law, then why cry so loudly? Why do the heathen rage?

but that's just me, hollering from the choir loft...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
