No. It seems you, Onelight, have changed the focus to Obama, but I am continuing on with the subject being about Warren.

I looked a bit further into the article in question " A christian Response to: A Common Word Between Us and You" and continue to believe Rick Warren did indeed sign the article in question along with over 300 others.

With the transcript of what Rick Warren has said that has been brought up, verses what this Chrislam type document states, the two items do indeed conflict with each other.

If Rick Warren is now out of agreement with an article he previously did sign in 2007, why does he not withdraw from this Christian/Muslim statement, as a few others have done in 2008?

A portion of the Christian Post article:
http://www.christianpost.com/news/influential-evangelicals-withdraw-from-christian-muslim-statement-31130/
"Administrators from one of the most influential evangelical colleges in the country removed their names from a controversial letter addressed to Muslim leaders that some say compromises the Christian faith.

Wheaton College president Duane Litfin, provost Stanton Jones and chaplain Stephen Kellough decided to back away from the letter that they had originally endorsed along with nearly 300 Christian leaders in November in response to an October statement ("A Common Word Between Us and You") from 138 Muslim scholars and clerics who called for interfaith cooperation for world peace."

"I signed the statement because I am committed to the business of peace-making and neighbor-love,” Litfin stated on Friday in The Record, the student publication of Wheaton College. “I did not savor the document’s unnuanced apology section, but swallowed that in order to be a part of reaching out a hand to these Muslim leaders who had courageously taken the initiative. Though the statement was not written in the way I would have written it, it seemed to me that I could sign it without compromising any of my Christian convictions.”

The Christian-endorsed statement – which included such signatories as Rick Warren of Saddleback Church, Billy Hybels of Willow Creek Community Church, and Leith Anderson of the National Association of Evangelicals – urged for interfaith dialogue that would build relations and reshape the Christian and Islam communities. Christian leaders also asked for forgiveness of sins committed against Muslims in the Crusades and excesses of the war on terrors in the letter.

Titled "Loving God and Neighbor Together: A Christian Response to a Common Word Between Us and You," the statement emphasized the "absolutely central" commonality between both religions: love of God and love of neighbor.

The response drew sharp criticism from highly respected theologians R. Albert Mohler, Jr., president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and John Piper, pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church, and other Christian leaders."

Now that I've seen Willow Creek in the midst I'm pretty certain this is false. My father also knows Bill Hybles of Willow Creek by name. He's also worked closely with Hybles and Willow Creek for nearly 30 years. My parents have been church planters overseas for nearly three decades. Willow Creek is not a part of the Emergent Church movement either.

Going to just say that this IMO this is miss-information. Sorry B3L13v3R

This certainly resonates with the signing of the document as well:

"Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, speaks at the annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America on July 4, 2009, in Washington, D.C."

"Different Books, Common Word"
(Site source NOT recommended with it's Chrislam base, will PM site if asked, also a search engine should pull it up...)

Quoting Rick Warren from the video at the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) on July 4th 2009 :

"I come to you today with a spirit of love and a spirit of friendship. A spirit of deep respect I love my dear dear Muslim friends, my next door neighbor and so many that are friends... And I love you.

Now dear friends as globalization draws us closer and closer together... One of the most pressing questions we have to ask ourselves, is how do we deal with our deepest differences? It is a fundamental question we have to wrestle with. How do we live together in peace and harmony? And not only that, how can we actually work together maintaining our separate traditions, maintaining our convictions without compromise, but working together for the greater good, of everybody in the world.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Commenting on the above:
As Christians, we do love all the lost looking to reach them in Christ alone. The above statement mixes "us with them." In allowing them to keep their "convictions", we are sending them to Hell. Generally speaking, a "love only" gospel will send folks there also.
Sinners need to know they are sinners first, then repent for their sins towards God, pointing them to the love of Jesus Christ God the Son and his shed blood  for their sins, dying on the cross for them.
This is a salvation message people will hold onto, and appreciate just what The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ has done for them.

On occasion I run into and preach to Muslims, and in the love of Christ reach out to them in the spirit of Truth, oftentimes I'll speak of  the Ten Commandments that they do believe to be brought from Moses.
In questioning them as to how many they have kept, when they realize they are sinners, swing them towards God the Son, Jesus Christ, the only one who can forgive them and bring them true peace that is found in the One True God alone. Allah becomes null at this point!
Other times they may reject the message, but that's OK! I go on praying for their salvation hoping for the same at some point in their future.

In the context of the world though, as to them being "my dear dear Muslim friends" no, never. No friendship with the world.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

The only "true peace", this side of eternity anyone will ever know, is through Jesus Christ and Him alone:
John 14:27  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 16:33  These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

As Christians, "globally" living with the lost in "peace and harmony" will not be coming, as a matter of fact things are going to get worse, and we will be hated, from the looks of things, America will be no exception in the very near future:
Matthew 24:6-9
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
Matthew 24:35-37
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe (Noah) were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

In the truest sense of total "global peace" there will be no such thing until the new heavens and earth are created by God, after this heaven and this earth are destroyed by fire.
2 Peter 3:10-13
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

However, as the world comes together as "one" globally, there will be a false peace that all embrace without Christ:
1 Thessalonians 5:3-4
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Matthew 24:14  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary (In part:)
Gospel
GOS'PEL, n. [L. evangelium, a good or joyful message.]

The history of the birth, life, actions, death, resurrection, ascension and doctrines of Jesus Christ; or a revelation of the grace of God to fallen man through a mediator, including the character, actions, and doctrines of Christ, with the whole scheme of salvation, as revealed by Christ and his apostles. This gospel is said to have been preached to Abraham, by the promise, "in thee shall all nations be blessed." Gal 3:8.

It is called the gospel of God. Rom 1:1.

It is called the gospel of Christ. Rom 1:16.

It is called the gospel of salvation. Eph 1:13.

1. God's word.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:11-12

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
