Should the Supreme Court strike down the healthcare law?

Still waiting for someone to come up with a better plan.

Here it is:

1. Go to the US Archives and get the original copy of the US Constitution. Have a huge burning ceremony. This will just formalize what is already "de facto" anyway.

2. Make all health care providers government employees. Then, our taxes will pay their salaries.

3. Have the gov't takeover all hospitals and clinics.

4. Everyone who shows up to be treated will be treated. First come, first served.

Then, everyone can form a circle and sing the praises of Government Run Healthcare. Hail Obama!

To me, that is the crux of it. No one should be denied medical care. Period.

I don't know if universal insurance is the answer or not. A lot of people I know live month to month with little to spare after the basic necessities. They simply cannot afford hundreds or thousands of dollars per year in insurance premiums.

So maybe insurance isn't the solution. Maybe the whole system should be government run, the way other services are. When I need police assistance, I pick up the phone and call and expect someone to respond. Maybe that's the way medical care needs to be. If it can work that way in prison, of all places, surely we cann find ways to make it work elsewhere.

I don't claim to have all the answers. But we need to find a way that every person can get the care they need. Period.

A sad thing is that there are Americans who hate Obama more than they care about their fellow man. There are Americans who are willing to allow people to die, rather than allow the current administration to do anything that actually saves lives.

That is a load of crap. No one is calling on anyone to be denied health care. Everyone readily admits that our health care system needs reformation. It just doesn't need Obamacare.

Our country can't afford Obamacare thanks to his reckless and irresponsbile spending. Obamacare was forced on us without any debate without the benefit of having a nonpartisan debate so that less desirable aspects could be examined, tweeked and that Obamacare could be something Amercans support. Emperor Obama didn't want a debate. He forced a vote before we knew what it was in it. He didn't want to negotiate or leave any part of it open to debate or the possibility of change. It is just ONE example of this miserable, godless administration's attempt to take away freedom from Americans.

We are being forced by the federal gov't to buy health care by virtue of being an American citizen, which is not constitutional. Obama could have made it legal by making it a tax, but he didn't want to claim it as an additional tax. That would not have been politically expedient.

Dictatorships always couch their grap for power by claiming that it's "for your protection and for your own good." And thanks to liberals, Obama has already had some success in circumventing the Constitution for his own ends.

What else should we give to those who cant afford it? Where does it stop?

Yesterday someone actually said he deserved to have someone give him a tv. He felt entitled to it. Why? Because he did volunteering at his church. This is how low our society has fallen that people think they are entitled to free things.

Jade, I don't think I understand what you mean by if you have the money you won't be allowed to have some proceedure? Is that part of obamacare (if so do you know where so i can look it up?)

What we currently have is not sustainable or even acceptable if it could be sustained....Health care for those who can afford it and "too bad" for those who can't.

There is a need for reformation of health care. No one is saying otherwise, but rejection Obamacare is a rejection of the socialist mentality that undergirds it. It is rejection of a unconsitutional mandate that oversteps the government's constitutional role. It is not a denial of health care for those can't afford it.

Hospitals are required to treat you whether you have insurance or not. The rest of us have to pick up the tab. That needs to be changed. Obamacare was shoved down our throats before an alternative could be found. Heck, Obamacare might have been acceptable if the president had been willing to compromise. But, he wasn't. Pelosi said that we would find out what was in it after it was passed and when we found out, most Americans didn't like it, especially thousands of small businesses. Do you sign contracts before you read them??? Why pass a bill before knowing what it being passed into law?? Why make a law before knowing if we really want to live by that law???

What is worse is that this miserable administration has destoyed jobs and yet forces all of (whether we have jobs or not) to purchase health care. He squandered the first two years on this stupid healthcare law and the economy and unemployment has only gotten worse. Now how are people who can't get jobs, (23 million of them) going to be able to afford to buy health care? How can afford to pay the fine they will get for not being able get health insurance because this administration has made it impossible to have real job growth?

Yeah, I am serious. Obamacare is too expensive for this country to support. It has increased the beauracracy in our government expotentially and we don't have the money for it. It is a major finacial drain that we cannot afford. If we keep spending, spending spending, we will go complete broke. We don't have enough doctors and we can't afford to give free health care. It is unconstitutional to force us to buy health care, to boot.

If you truly love America, you can't support a system that circumvents what makes this country the greatest in the world. Obamacare is unsustainable and it is unAmerican. It is the product of a socialist mentality, not a freedom loving mentality.

If you like it so much, go live in France or go join Burning Ember up in Canada. But keep your hands off of the Constitution.

A central, essential part of any socialized healthcare scheme is to force everyone who is under the laws of the country instituting said scheme to use it..

If you have the means (money, that is), the only "opt out" you have is to go to another country for your healthcare. That is why, for an example, that the health care facilities in the area of Upstate NY where I reside is clogged with Canadians. They are here fleeing the horrendous waits that are part of the wonderful Canadian system we hear so much about.

Congress can enact all kinds of laws. I suppose they'll have to figure out how to outlaw the law of "supply and demand."

And to make if a criminal offense to go to another country for the purposes of receiving healthcare.

Sadly, it's likely your argument is falling on deaf ears.

When people are offered a "freebie" like healthcare (something concrete) versus something that is abstract - like freedom - too many will choose the former.

And they will not miss the latter - until it's gone.
