What was up with the Moon last night??

I haven't checked out the news at all today but did anyone see what I saw last night? I wonder what caused it.

There was a wide hazy ring around the Moon last night when I saw it about 10:15pm .

So cool.

It came to mind - the end times when there will be signs in the skies......

Yah, I read up about it.

Cool isn't it!

It was beautiful in my neck of the woods.

As I was standing there looking up, I was thinking, wow, the sky is the best screen of them all - absolutely immense.

Rings around the moon are caused when moonlight passes through thin clouds of ice crystals high in Earth's atmosphere.

As the moonlight passes through the ice crystals, it is bent in a way similar to light passing through a lens. The shape of

the ice crystals causes the moonlight to be focused into a ring.

This is similar to the way water droplets in the lower atmosphere can bend sunlight to create a rainbow.

So, not a sign, but normal stuff...I've seen that many times

Actually it might be a sign....... with the moisture in the high atmosphere most of the time it rains within a short time. At least around here it does...

How often have you read in a magazine or heard on TV of an astronomical phenomenon that wouldn't happen again for a century, or a thousand years or more?

Yet we are jaded in our appreciation of what we are witness to.

Even more....

There have been singular events - one time only - such as when Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 impacted with Jupiter. It was an astronomical light show that professionals are still talking and writing about.

Yet we remain apathetic in our understanding of these wonders in the heavens.

One, even one, such event in ancient times was sufficient to be lauded for generations and centuries. Paintings were created, legends begun and songs about the passage of a single comet would be composed (as in the days of Mark Twain and comet Halley).

Yet are we even mildly curious as to the meaning of these things?

They're just rocks and lights in the sky. Happens all the time. Right?

WRONG!

It doesn't happen all the time! Astronomers tell us the confluence of these events is basically ONCE IN HISTORY.

It has never happened before and such things will never happen again. Ever!

Mostly what we observe in the hearts and minds of men is mild curiosity. As though this sort of thing always happens and always will happen.

Mild curiosity on one end of the human spectrum, boredom on the other.

Man is so inebriated with his own importance and so consumed with his own affairs that he cannot and will not see what is happening in the greater universe around him.

Man's heart is so full of conceited self-importance that he believes himself to be god.

So when the heavens above cannot get man's attention, the war for rightness and goodness and the glory of God will come to that one dark place where man believes he is inviolate and untouchable.

The hearts of men will fail them for fear.

Because we refuse to acknowledge the awe and fear of God declared openly and with great spectacle in the heavens...

and because we deny Him upon earth and in our lives, in our deeds and in our communities...

Heaven is bringing FEAR to us which cannot be denied with a flippant attitude, a clever remark or a rigid denial.

The hearts of men will fail them for fear.

Nothing is or will be safe. Not our country, not our theaters, not our schools, not our homes and not our places of worship.

Death and destruction and upheaval is coming - yes it is even among us now!

FEAR is to be our constant companion! Bitterness and guilt shall be our daily bread!

The army can't save us. When seconds count, the police are minutes away. The neighborhood we live in won't save us (we don't even know who those people are). Tradition won't save us (What tradition? Does the word itself have meaning any more?).

"People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken."

- Luke 21:26

It is time to take seriously what is happening in the sky above us, in the world around us and in our heart of hearts.

The stars in their courses have declared - IT IS TIME TO REPENT.

It's later, far later than any of us imagine.

For the judgment of God begins in His own house. And if we do not attend to the signs of the heavens FEAR will come to us in our sacred sanctuaries.

There is no place to hide, except in Christ Jesus.

and that's just me, hollering from the choir loft...
