One thing for sure God can be a complex being in the abilities that God can do. Especially when we sit and wonder how did God create this or how did God do that and so on.

Now I have a question that has been puzzling me for a while. It is only because now I read the Bible through the whole chapters instead of just verses. The more we think we understand God the more mysteries we can find in the Bible without perhaps no answer or not the right answer or the best educational answer we can get. Since we were not there at the beginning of creation how can we be right or really know how God created things? Yeah I know He spoke things into existence. I don’t doubt that.

But I don’t understand the Mystery of the Lights. You see in Verses 3, 4 and 5 the Bible shows us that God created light then He divided the Light and Darkness and called it the first day.

But now in verses 14 to 19 the Lights are spoken about again? Are these the same Lights described in verses 3, 4 and 5? Are these different Lights? . Why would God create Light on the First day and Lights in the 4th day? . The only Lights I know and see are the Sun, Moon and the stars. Yet to me this is a Mystery I don’t understand. This almost makes it seems like the creation of Lights was done twice once on the first day and once on the fourth day. Of course being a human that can be our aspect of observation.

Can anyone here try to understand how could God bring in the Lights in Day one and in Day four? Are these lights on Day one the same Lights on Day four?

I know that skeptics, agnostics and atheists would make a claim this proves there is No God. For He could not create the lights twice. Yet I am a Believer and I know there is an answer. But what that answer is I wish I knew. So that is why I am asking here.

Genesis 1:3-5

Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.

Genesis 1:14-19

Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

In the first verses, God only divided the light from the darkness. He did not create the Sun, Moon and Stars at that time. Exactly how God divided the light from the darkness we don't know. We are just told He did. Just like He created the earth on the first day that without form, and void. It was still the earth but He did not finish the job until the second day..Just like you and I, we were created upon conception, but continued to form and grow until we are born, then we still continue to grow until we are with Him.

Well?

And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. Revelation 22:5

The purpose of creating light before the Sun, Moon and Stars has to do with helping us understand that though these give light, they are not the source of true light. As Joe said above, there will be a day when all these light sources will be done away with and only the true light shine from God and God alone.

What I have been taught as I sit with God is that Genesis 1 is not only a literal given testament to what God did and when but that he did it in a certain fashion as to prophetically layout a time line for the perfecting of his creation which began imperfect with sin. A day with the Lord is as a thousand years. This has a two fold meaning. First, time means nothing with God. Secondly, it is a prophetic statement to help us understand how to layout the timeline of human history that God wrote before he even began creating. God used word pictures to help us to understand what is going on with mankind through creation. Water, sea creatures, earth, land animals, fowls of the air, trees, herb of the field and man all have a role in explaining what God is doing as he takes and perfects his creation over time. This can be seen throughout the prophets who used these things speaking about people being water or earth or beasts of the field etc. It is a study that I have not completely finished, nor do I think I will as time is too short. With that foundation, let me offer this unto you for prayerful consideration:

The mystery of the lights:

Day four, God created the Sun and the Moon. God wrote into creation his story which is history. As he created things he gave them attributes that help us to understand that which cannot be seen that are spiritual in nature. The sun was created to represent the Son and the moon, the church. The sun is its own light source. The moon relies upon the sun for light and merely reflects the light of the sun. The sun has a burning light that no man can approach unto and when it rises with a burning heat even the goodness of man which is as the flower of the field falls off. 4000 years after the creation of the world, God brought the Son into the world to be the light of the world. The church was born as well. I also believe that at this time he set an order amongst the ruling angels in the heaven that is represented by the stars, these having dominion over the age of grace until the kingdom come when the stars shall fall from the sky and the elements burn with a fervent heat.

The moon has a specific affect upon the sea as well. When the moon is shining brightly and close in proximity to the earth the waves of the sea rise. The sea of humanity is the body of heathen and David asks why do the heathen rage? We know why. The truth that the church brings stirs them up. The lights were given, one to rule the day and one to rule the night. We are told that the evening and the morning were the first day. We are told thus that darkness comes before light as when the light came the darkness comprehended it not. How many people truly understand you when you try to bring them salvation through Christ as Lord and Savior? Life began in the sea of humanity and God brought about many different forms of life. But he made the dry land to appear, the symbol of the bringing in of knowledge of God into the world. From there the beasts of the field reigned supreme though they be without true knowledge missing much truth.

We, my friend, are at the end of the sixth day and at the eve of the seventh. Though darkness is settling in all around us, God is preparing to send the Last Adam and his Bride out into the world to have dominion over the fish of the sea, the fowl of the air, every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, the beasts of the field as he is about to preform his greatest feat of all and conform those that are his into the perfect image of God in Christ without sin.

What a marvelous but frightful time to live upon the face of the earth! What I have shared is a work in progress and I know in my heart is incomplete. I am simply thankful for the understanding I have been given and hope it helps to shed light on the subject for others. There is more in the bible to explain all things unto us but we must be ready, willing and able to receive Gods truth and walk in it. According to God himself, his people are destroyed for lack of knowledge because the refuse knowledge. One last thought on the sun, God even wrote the death, burial and resurrection into creation when he created the sun and gave it a winter solstice where the sun goes down to its lowest point in the sky for three days then rises again. What a glorious and marvelous show of Gods mighty power and vast wisdom to be able to do such a thing.

Peace be with you in Christ,

Gary

If you read the pattern of Genesis 1, you will see God creates and separates, then He fills it.

Physically, I am not sure what the Day 1 light is. But if you read Gen. 1 spiritually, you can see the Gospel being presented (i.e. "the land" - eretz in Hebrew, translated here as "earth" - represents the people of God whereas the "waters" and "deep" represent the people and nations - gentiles).

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
