Earth Much Older Than Believed By Most Christians

In Bethlehem a babe was born, and A few years later , He bore our sins on the cross. 2004 years ago! His precious blood ran onto the ground. In His agony we were set free ! Is'nt that all that matters ? I thank God everyday for that miracle that saved us from damnation in hell. The age of this planet has no bearing on that !!!

Ronald: Such hostility! Lighten up a little bit, you've got to realize that there are other people who believe differently than you do. I don't believe the Bible is infallible, but I also don't believe that that takes away from the meaning of the Bible as a whole. It just means we shouldn't necessarily use it as a scientific tool, or necessarily even as a historical tool...for example, it's generally accepted that Numbers skips generations when listing family histories (list specific instances if you want). Basically, it's not God who messes up...it's us.

Other points:

- nitpick: our calendar was set up wrong, so actually the true number since Jesus was born is different, but I can't remember if its more or less...not that it even matters

- as for transitional bones...a) bones decompose over time and b) did anyone else hear about the newly discovered "hobbit" (aka 3 ft tall early human) of Flores? check the national geographic site...its really cool!

There is room for differences in some areas of our beliefs, and there are some areas beleivers shouldnt compromise on. The bible is infallible GBG.

Traditional religious beliefs hold that the earth is just under 7000 years old and began with the six days recorded in Genesis.

Actually, most churches acknowledge the earth is several billion years old, because most churches acknowledge that the Bible is not infallible, especially when it comes to matters of science. It is not a question - TaBiblia is right, it is a fact.

Excuse me, but most churches I know do NOT acknowledge the Bible is infallible-the Bible is the inerrant, never changing Word of the living God-a God whom you will have to stand before and answer to that blasphemy.

Actually, the bible is filled with errors in the "technical renderings" of the text. However, the "Divine Thought" which is the primary purpose of the bible is, in fact, inerrant. It has never changed nor shall it ever. This is one of the amazing things about the scriptures. With all of the errors, mis-quotes, scribes notes from side margins inserted hundreds of years later by other scribes, numbers in the same chapter contradicting one another because of differences in the times in which it was translated, lies by Satan himself which are recorded there, and the fact that we simply do not read with the thought processes of the land in which it was compiled, the "Divine Thought" has NOT been lost.

So in some ways your comments are correct. It is dependable to the point that you can entrust your eternal soul to its truths. Just "search the scriptures" and do not settle for traditional teachings that might have you ignore a simple truth that has been covered over by those traditions.

The Bible is the Word of God. II timothy 3:6 All scripture is given by inspiration of God "that includes Genesis", and is profitable for doctrine,for reproof , for correction in righteousness.

You see you can not pick and chose which part of the bible you want to believe is true. Either the whole bible is true or it a lie there is no middle ground. You see the whole bible is important. Not just the parts you think are true. You see in the book of Genesis Eve was given the first promise of Jesus death for our sins. In Gen 3:15 God says to the devil. I will put enmity between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed : it shall bruise thy head and thou shalt bruise thy heel. That was God first promise of Jesus come to the earth to pay for our sins but if say that the Genesis account of creation is not true then you deny that Jesus came in the flesh. Which you do by the false doctrine of the Gap theory which says that between Gen 1:1 and 1:2 God had a pre adamic race on the earth and then he wipe it out and start over again. But that is not true cause you see there is no gap between Gen 1;1 and 1;2 cause every thing that happen in Gen 1:1 to 1:5 happen on the first day evening and morning do not mean billions of years, they mean a 24 hour time period. You see God if he wanted to could have made the Earth in 6 seconds but he chose 6 days to work and the 7th day to rest on. God did that so that could he teach his people Israel in exodus 20:8-11 Remeber the Sabbath and day to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work. But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: For in six days "not billions of years the Lord made heaven and earth, and rested the seventh day, wherfore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and Hallowed it. Now in the Hebrews chapter 4:1-4 says that that Sabbath rest in the OT was a type of Christ who is our Sabbath rest. When we get born again we enter into God rest. Verse 2 part A says For unto us was the gospel preached. vesre 3 part A says For we which have believed do enter into his rest. verse 4 says For he spake in a certain day of the seventh day on the wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. His works was the six 24 hour days of his creation. You see the whole bible is important. God did not put in the book of Genesis just to fill in space. The whole bible from Gen to the last book of revelation is for one point only to teach about God the Son JESUS. But if you says parts of it are untrue then you deny Jesus. Cause in john 1;1 Jesus is called the Word of God. Jesus is the living Word. So you need to Repent of False Teaching and get right with God other wise you will hear at Judgement Day Depart from me "Jesus the living word" ye cursed in to everlasting fire prepare for the devil and his angels. The bible says all liars shall their part in lake which burns with fire and brimstone. rev 21:8

First off, the basic principles of evolution and the Darwinian approach are different. Evolution is simply an organisms ability to chage or adapt over time to meet the demands of an ever changing environment. Its a proven fact that simple evolution(changes) occur. Coyotes have "evolved" to live in urban areas. White-tailed deer have "evolved" to consume grain crops provided by man. So species do undergo this form of evolution. But the Darwinian approach(known as The Theory of Evolution) is different. Where simple evolution cares not the origin of life Darwinian evolution states species do change over time and all forms of life(plant and animal) have a common ancestor. Which is stupid

But my thoughts on the age of the earth......

Different geologic processes mean NOTHING if you look at from a christian standpoint. God put all this together!! Poof, and there it was!!!! Just because it would take billions of years to carve the Grand Canyon with a little river does not mean it happened. Just because it would take billions of years to put all the various strata(layers of the earth) together if it occurred naturally does not mean that God, the Almighty could not just snap His fingers and make it so.

You see, so many people try to disprove God by this approach and it JUST WILL NOT WORK God can put anything together in what ever fashion however He wants.

No area of science can disprove God. I don't care what formulas you throw out. None of it matters if you put God in the picture. God does what we can't do; He makes possible what seems impossible. Boy, isn't God awsome??!!

When ever this subject is taken up, I would suggest that you check out what The Christian Scientists have proven in lab tests about instant creation. Non Christian scientists are not going to admit to anything that might support God's 6 day creation. Dr. Carl Baugh, and Dr. D. James Kennedy have a lot of information on this subject, and I believe it is all available on the internet. TBN carries a 30 min. program on Dr. Baugh on which he brings some very well respected scientists who believe in God, and they don't just present theory about 6 day creation, they present factual proof.

God wrote The Bible, He used men as He would a pen. Being no respecter of persons, He wrote it in each language that He created when it was time for them to receive the written word. There is never a Scripture that tells man to go study another language to know what He is saying. He tells us that The Holy Spirit will do that job, so I went to the first complete English version I could find which turned out to be the 1611 KJV which The Holy Spirit had to teach me how to read because it is written in old English. I did this because this is what God told me to do when He baptized me in The Holy Spirit, and proclaim His Truth everywhere to everyone. This after I had accumulated quite a library of interpretations, helps books, commentaries etc. which will forever after stay where they belong, on the shelves. Like someone else wrote one of the smallest boxes man has tried to put God in is the communication with His children box. Who are you oh man that you think God needs you to explain Himself, and His Written Word to someone else, because you don't think Him able.
