Ok, I was out of line on teasing that it was a little harsh for the loser of the next war to have to keep France.

I also get weary of the European superiority attitude, and France is by far the worst form of this arrogance.

Nonsense we do that sort of thing much better in Britain. We just do it more subtly than the French.

Never mind that the United States saved Europe in two World Wars and that thousands of American soldiers lie buried in its graveyards. But saving Europe when it screws up is what the United States is supposed to do. And damning Americans for saving them is what Europeans are supposed to do, under the French principle that no good deed should go unpunished.

Let's not forget some key facts. The French use to be the US's only ally. They helped blockade Cornwallis at Yorktown...and without their help (especially financially) in the Revolutionary War, we probably wouldn't have won. Likewise, they gave us a steal of a deal on the Lousiana purchase (of course, this was with alternative motives).

Also, while the Iraqis are using French and Russian weapons, let's not forget that if we do find those chemical weapons in the desert, there will be a huge "Made in the USA" sticker on them.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't like the current French government or attitude...just trying to show the French hvaen't always been bad.

I really dont know much about U.S. politics, but as far as I remember, the last administration left a surplus isn't it? Also, Reagan (I think he's republican), and Bushs (Sr. and Jr.) went to war, right? You, my fellow american, can you explain the situation about the reagan's times? About the world despising americans, you're right.

Millions risk life and limb to make it to America every year. I really don't see a mass exodus out of America. The world is full of humans and humans are full of envy.

i think the world is simply ignorant of history. They say they hate America, yet if it wasn't for America, they would have nothing. For one, we were the first nation to rise against colonialism and make ourselves our own nation. This inspired others to off their monarchs and rule themselves. Likewise, while we have caused some problems, we've also saved the world three times over. First with WWI, secondly with WWII, and third by keeping Communist Russia in check. So while we've done some wrong things, the world does owe America. We prevented the spread of colonialism and expansionism, we stopped, defeated, and liberated all of Europe from Facism, and we brought down the cold wall of Communism. So like it or not Filipe, historically the world owes America.

Likewise, to suggest that there is discontent here and that people are leaving America is just stupid. While in other countries when there is a split in the population war breaks out or people flee the country, here in America we simply live with it. There are no masses leaving America because America still has A LOT to offer.
