So after having a gal for the second time in about three weeks yell at me for nothing in front of customers, I told the manager I need to avoid her because if she does it again I gonna go off on.

 

I know I'm wrong but I don't want to be a pushover, but when is enough, enough.

I think it is wise to say that you can avoid someone who continues to verbally abuse you.You are not a human doormat.

I don't tolerate verbal abuse at work, especially when someone starts with personal attacks, insults family, etc. At all. For any reason. I'm in a public facing job, and being polite and professional usually works. I will also add that I warned my boss of this before I ever started working there. I got really good at the verbal game as an NCO in the military -- so they understand why I won't tolerate verbal abuse. Jesus didn't say we had to be doormats.

 

Most idiots are absolutely stunned to silence when you inform them, "Sir, I don't tolerate personal attacks of that nature or vulgar language. I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to take that elsewhere."

In other words, there is no limit. How many times has God forgiven us? In my case I know that it is many more than 490 times. Give God the glory! Do I need to be a doormat to please God? Show where the door is...

A famous Christian boxer, whose name escapes me, once said... "I obeyed the commandment in the Bible when a fellow punched me once... I turned the other cheek. He hit me again, and I clobbered him real good. Bible says turn the other cheek... after that it's all up to me."

 

Just remember, though, people will sue you for looking at them cross-eyed or file a charge for assault. But if you are willing to pay the consequences...

I do not get the impression the OP is talking about a Christian. 70 X 7 is for fellow believers.

True, and its also a case of choosing your battles carefully. Some things just aren't worth bothering with.
