It seems like whenever I start feeling a bit haughty, even over something stupid, the Lord has a way of pulling the rug out from beneath my feet. Sometimes I hear a thought running through my head: "So what do you want? A banana?" At other times, I get bitten by the very thing I was feeling smug over.
